Hi, Has anyone talked to Antti Pankkonen as to howhe got the Dauphin to do what it does. I meanhow did he get a fully functional autopilot and dual engine operation? Also how did he edit thefuel burn rate to be more realistic or to matchwhat the actual aircraft performs at?I think what he has done is great, and nowI too want to learn how he did it so I can build it into other new and existing models.I emailed him but have got no response. Soif anyone knows how or knows how to get in touchwith him please let me know.Al ColsonCougar01 CEO of Cougar Mountain Helicopters

I bet that many out there are not aware that there are a few well established helicopter only ( no fixed wings at all) VA's.One of them is Fox River Helicopters, at the following site:http://www.bozair.bravepages.com/Foxriver/index.htmGo have a look, you will like what you see.Others are the Virtual USCG and the 60th HSU ( a military type VA, based closely on the USAF)Have FunDanny

How hard would it be to add a pilot figure to the model? The helicopter is so great it just seems to be missing that one tiny thing. I have no idea how to model and Im pretty sure the pilot figure is part of the model itself, and if so does anybody know if Antti will be making the same model with the little pilot figure inside? Thanks and happy flying! :)Shane

I decided to give the FS2002 squawkbox a try and ended up having a blast flying a little too close to the VATSIM ground traffic >:) Robert

Hands Off!Bell's 407 Meets Automated Flight ControlsAfter years of development, the Bell 407 and its new autopilot are finally certified. Contributing editor and veteran pilot Ron Bower recently flew the autopilot-equipped 407. Here's what he found. by Ron Bower Reporting from Fort Worth, Texas--------------------------------------------------------------------------------THESE DAYS, IT SEEMS there's an automated option for just about every flight maneuver. What's next? Robots in the cockpit? That's not science fiction anymore. They're already here-in the form of a new breed of highly sophisticated autopilots. In late December, I went to snowy Pennsylvania to fly and eval…

Hi,I saw your message in the "picture" forum. You must be shure that the Dauphin reaches his 100% power setting. I follow this procedure:1. Be sure the joystick is disabled.2. Shift-5 place both handles in the most upper position.3. If the electrical system is on, switch it off and back on. IMPORTANT !4. Be sure that all switches on the "electrical system" panel are switched "On". Be sure that the booster pumps are switched on!5. Shift-2 to be sure that the Dauphin system allows yoke control, Shift-2 to hide the panel again.6. Move the left handel just below the tab, and push the start button. At first the power needle is moving very slowly, move the handle slowly to the …

Well, I have just been hanging back to see if there will be a virtual Chopper company or not. So i decided to come up with one myself (No Rex I have not forgotten you ;-) ) 'Clutch Cargo Air' is the name of the service. There are 2 zones with three camps in each zone being made up. It will be in the Northern area above Ketchikan International airport. Each zone will be no more that 25 miles apart so as to keep from falling to sleep while traveling there . There will be special instructions that I will randomly replace at each zone. You must land and then taxi up to a hangar area and follow the animated Marshaller's hand signals. you will then be able to see your instruct…

And another thing:I find that if I'm not quite diligent in monitoring the new uploads to Avsim's file library, I can very well miss a great helicopter. And unless I'm missing something, it's hard to go back and find them without manually perusing the list of aircraft that are there, scattered amongst the seventy-eleven thousand Boeing repaints. The thought has occurred to me, now that we have our own dedicated forum, that perhaps a "parallel" effort could be undertaken to split out rotorcraft from the seized-wing types. What say ye about this? And if any Avsim principals are reading, is there any possibility of doing this?I for one would certainly appreciate it.cheers,Dave…

The author is out of luck - but i figured some of you tinkerers could help me out.number_of_devices=3;cyclic_pitch=1,Y;cyclic_roll=1,X;yaw=3,Z;collective=1,SLIDER0;beep_trim=1,POV0;pan_view=1,POV0;force_trim_release=1,BUT1;brakes=1,BUT6;toggle_landing_gear=1,BUT5;toggle_cycl_fd=1,BUT2;toggle_coll_fd=1,BUT3;toggle_coupler=1,BUT4;go_around=1,BUT7;I have a CH strike force 3d sticka ch yokeand ch pedalsit all works - BUT a few things ( which I think are interrelated )1. When I try to use the collective - ( and I look in VC mode ) it quivers for a sec and goes to 0 and my RPMs drop to 0 almost like I disengaged the Rotor.2. If i try and use the AP - and initaite a hover - RPM …

Since theres alot of activity here now due to the extravagant dauphin helicopter(which in my opinion is awesome), I was wondering if anyone knew where to buy real helicopter hardware such as cyclic grips and pedals, preferably used and at a reasonable price.ThanksRyan

I was finally able to lift off a bit, gain a little altitude (a few hundred feet), actually maneuver in the direction I wanted to go and set down without crashing my chopper!! I feel I'm starting to get the hang of it a little. I made three successful lift offs, maneuver and landings at Canberra in Oz. But, gee, if you're not paying attention EVERY second, it really does get away from you, doesn't it? My last landing before ending my practice session, I wanted to see if I could actually get it back to the airport (which admittedly wasn't far away, but I WAS traveling in the opposite direction) and set it down somewhere close to a runway or apron. Well I did manage to…

I can fly any chopper that has ever been uploaded onto the internet. The 206, the AS-350, the CH-46, I can stop on a dime, hover over the same building for over 30 min straight, I can put the UH-1 down in between two houses that are separated by only 5 more feet than the span of the rotor, but when I try to fly this Dauphin 2 I look like a bumbling idiot. I must be doing somthing wrong, is there a switch that I am not flicking correctly or an autopilot that is setup wrong or what? I can NOT put this thing down going less that 30 kts, or else I just cant control it. I tried substituting another .Air file to see if it helps, but I couldnt get the dang thing off the grou…

Hello, has anyone gotten the dauphin.cfg file to recognize a separate throttle device (not a slider)? I am using a Suncom throttle and for the life of me can't get it to be recognized by the dauphin. I have a slider on my Microsoft FF that works fine, but it's not a zeparate throttle device... Robert

Okay this new dauphin is driving me nuts... I've been trying to configure the controls.. I got the Pitch, yaw, and roll working but I cannot get the collective to work with my throttle.. as it stands right now as soon as I hit Shift+2 the collective jumps to 96% or so and stays there it won't move. Any ideas? anybody figure this thing out? Its a shame to have such a wonderful bird with such poor documentation. Thanks in advance for any help.-Jason Peters B-52H Crew Chief USAF [email protected]

Okay, so I got the thing installed and I'm making plenty of smoking holes in the ground (I'll work on making it fly right as soon as I start hearing things).I downloaded up_dauphinsound.zip from the library and believe I've followed the Docs instructions on installing the sounds (renamed to he4.wav and xhe4.wav, and didn't mess with the sound.cfg). Made sure the dauphin.cfg is in the main FS2002 directory.Landing gear extension/retraction works (though with a hefty framerate pause). Touchdown sounds are present. Of course, these are default Simulator sounds. So what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for the help,
