HIBeen experimenting today trying to get the default Jet Ranger flying as an AI Heli.By using both the De Havilland Dash 8-100 aircraft.cfg & Model.cfg It will taxi /take-off and land on a conventional runway.THE BIG Question IS Has Any One Got A Heli To Land & Take Of With Out Using The Runway ?Any feed back on the best AI cfg files to use or any other info would be most useful. All The BestDave

I posted this in the MS Flightsim General forum: Hello, I have the following two questions: 1) A couple of the helo's I downloaded seem to have unlimited fuel (I have the unlimited fuel checkbox unchecked). One chopper is the Hughes 500 made for FS2K2, the other is the Blackhawk made for FS2000. I download a S76 and a OH58 both for FS2000 and they both burn fuel. Does anyone know if there is a special way to make helicopters burn fuel (if they are not doing so). 2) Is there a workaround for the gear issue with choppers where you have to pause the sim prior to extending or retracting the gear? Any info would be appreciated thanks! Rober…

Has anyone had any experience setting up the rotorwing hardware from FlightLink (see http://www.flightlink.com) for use with FS2002 (or FS2000 for that matter). I am particularly interested in the setting up of the anti-torque pedals and collective. I'd really like the anti-torques to act less like fixed-wing rudder pedals.Ciao,Graeme

Hello,After a lot of trouble (installing gmax1.1 and converting)i have my Lego-model in gmax. The sad thing is i couldnot finish it in time (i do not know much about gmax andthere is a little health problem).I made a Lego main- and tailrotor but i could not convertthe materials. I can give you a .x file witch should containall materials but you must then convert it maybe to a .3dsfile to load it into gmax or the .gmax file like you see itbut without the materials.regards, Hobbes

Hello,Thats the nice LAMA from mister logic_wizard.Mail address:[email protected] homepage:CG Arthttp://logic-wizard.hoops.ne.jp/He made realy great helos for FMS take a look at his side -would be great he would work for FS2002- andhe is a very kind modeler because you can get his models in .mqo. Its very easy to convert from thator .x to gmax and i think this could be a very finegmax-model with VC and all in the range of the greatBell47g. I will not work on that before winter -its37

There's an updated version of Brian Whitelegg's ch149caf at http://www.flightsim.com which has retractable gear and floats on the water...and seems to have better texture, though the rotors are "quite" noticeable.

Why are so many freeware choppers just different models with the stock 206 FDE? Not knocking the designers at all, just wondering...BTW, great to see a chopper forum.:-sun1

Our avid reporter, whose name cannot be divulged here for reasons of national security and personal safety, managed to get some more inside information on this highly anticipated project by Antti...... :-).... the first chopper with real twin engine functionality... shutting down one engine really makes you loose power.. (duh !)... And it can hover on one engine too.... Hey I'm sure many of you have heard about the MSFS insider page. Plus the email address [email protected] where we can email our thoughts and suggestion for future versions. The only way we are going to have a major over haul of the helicopter in FS2004 or any new version is making ourselves well known. I want everyone here to email MS with helicopter related issues. When MS sees the large amount of helicopter issues they will put more time into it. Remember how on the other sim sites and forums everybody wanted ATC and other planes with them in the sky and a 747. Well thats what was put in, its still early enough to put large scale ideas in. Also any one …

Who would have thought that a cheap & cheerful analogue joystick would be more accurate than my Logitech Wingman Force for helo flying! It is certainly a LOT easier to control a helicopter using the twist handle rudder feature than using rudder keys on the keyboard. Takes up a lot less desk space too! :DI still need a lot of practice with helos, however, at least now I can take off a few feet, hover, turn around using the rudder and get the chopper back on the ground. What is the best helo for practicing with (FS2002 Pro)?Anyways, the stick I opted for was the Saitek Cyborg Gold USB, (although it needed a 7Mb download from Saitek to get the stick to work in WinXP). 17. Well, I didn't want to watch the H-60 crash and tumble down that slope but I was glued to the screen in horror! Why! I flew in H-3 aircraft while in the U.S. Navy and then as a Test Engineer for the U.S. Navy for 13yrs. In that time, I was involved in some rather harrowing tests that could have crashed the helicopter. We always had a plan, especially a safety plan, before each flight. Thankfully, we only dented parts of the helicopter and made it safely back to land.I wonder how much planning was in effect in this case. We are sometimes too gungho and don't think out the consequences before we act. I support these rescuers and pray for their speedy recovery.

Greetings Fly 2 copter (and fixed wing) pilots! Robert "Helibird" and I invite you to participate in another multiplayer flight on the TRI server, starting at EWR, Newark Airport in NJ, on Sunday 6/2 at 1 PM EDT. We will be using Scott's EWR and NYC scenery. Robert and I will be starting out at EWR, but we are also planning a flight around Lake Tahoe the same day (to get familiar with the area for the AVSIM conference!)We will be using Roger Wilco for voice communications, on the AVSIM RW server, with IP 205.252.89.41. We will also be using Fly 2 text chat. Look for us on the MultiCom frequency, in multiplayer text chat.See you all there!Wayne"SimPilot"

Quick question...I want to get back into helicopters, but I 'upgraded' my analog CH setup (pedals, throttle and stick)to a CH USB yoke because I couldn't get my rudders to calibrate correctly (even w/ FSUIPP and help from CH support...probably due to XP).Anyway, does anybody know if I can use my analog stick with USB pedals? I plan on getting some soon but don't have the money for a new stick too. Thanks in advance!http://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/Us...cdf6182b41d.jpg Great Lakes Express VA - The Midwest's regional and feeder airlinehttp://www.voyagerairlines.com/gle/index.html

Hi there, these are just some screenshots from my point of view during our session with Wayne "SimPilot", Scott "nycflyer" and me.You can already read all about in Wayne's post..While I was sitting on the ship, Wayne landed at the heliport..Landed at Liberty Island, Scott circling around....Scott flying over helos at VERY low altitude :-).While Wayne was landing on the Intrepid, I landed on the ship right left to it..Close formation flight to DXR (Danbury airport). This COULD be the best pic IF I had closed the chat window :-).Preparing for the "race". Eye to Eye Scott and me....That's all, hope you enjoy and it motivates you to fly with us soon...Regards,Robert:-rotorEDC…

Here are some screenshots from a Fly II multiplayer "flight-seeing" trip around the NYC area today. We had two Bell 407's, flown by me, and Robert "Helibird", and a Cessna flown by Scott "NYCFlyer." We started at NY's La Guardia airport, and headed West to Manhattan. Scott flew over Central Park, as the two copter pilots made a quick stop at the MetroPort 60th Street heliport. Then, we all flew down the East River. After another landing at the Wall Street heliport, all three aircraft headed for the Statue of Liberty. After circling Liberty Island for some photos, the copters make an approved landing, as Scott flies overhead in the 172. Then, everyone heads North, up …
