  1. I am tickled pick with my 15 year old son's ability to sit down at FS2002 and immediately fly the bell helicopter and the other fixed wing aircraft. He is so smooth with the controls. This young man's only experience with flying is with a Mario game and race car driving. His old man, ME, has been around aviation for 40 years testing and evaluating, aircraft systems and procuring high end flight simulators. His aviation skills beat mine all too he-double hockey sticks!!He's the same way with golf!I am literally excited and proud of this aviation skills. I wonder if he'll want to get a real pilot's license??

Hello huys....It's been two days without a single new answer or post. Where r u all? More than 5000 people, and not a single one is posting. I had two works for two days, and had no time to take a view at it, but i expected at least 5 topics to read about. Is helicopter simming really that boring, that no one sticks to it?Keep that ventilator above your head turning!Ballistero

Hi Fly2 rotorheads,Good news! Some time ago I posted the following problem on the Fly general forum:I always crashed landing at ships, the oilrig or addon helipads / buildings. (but not due to my flying skills :-)Today I tried it with a clean, but fully patched Fly2. No problem, I could land everywhere. So after painful hours of searching (just kidding :) I found something in the fly.ini:This setting is the reason: WheelDetectionMode=1If you set it to "0", then the heli crashes! So it has to be set to "1" like in the clean Fly2 installation. I don't know why it was changed to zero, I didn't!Since there was no reply to my problem (execpt others having the same)I don't know…

Hello Chopper Heads!I've been reading some conflicting reports about how real the realism settings are. On this board, I've read some who say that anything less than one or two notched below max is "cheating." Meanwhile, I hear real helicopter pilots say that 50%-70% is more realistic because a Bell 206 isn't nearly as unstable as the high realism settings make it.Personally, I can fly pretty well on super high realism settings, but the swinging around that happend with the smallest finger preasure seems a pretty extreme (and my passengers keep asking for Dramamine!)What's the scoop? Do I just need to keep practicing my stick control?Steve Bertrand

Hi all of you!!!!In order to get the upcoming testing reports done here on the site, I'm asking you for some input....mainly what model of chopper you would like to have it testing..on items like realism etc..also on how it does fly within the sim itself. I had this kind of thread before..but not much respons on that...hey I don't mind!!! But it gives non real life pilots a sense of more of "one of the guys" in the chopper world........hell why aren't there more women "flyers" around here....So give me some choppers!!!....Sure the MD500 of Bjorn is already on the list (naturaly!!) and I got my own OH-58 air-file modified Bell 206...but as this site belongs to all of you h…

Hello folks, due to some incidents within the last weeks, and the last one about 10 minutes ago in the zone, i regret to inform you, that just good flying makes not a good day of online-flying.For those, who do not understand what i mean, let me explain that to you. When i started flying helicopters back in FS98, in had a hard time getting control over the helicopter. It went where it wanted to, and i was just passenger. After a few years and hundreds of hours came FS2000, and the helicopter model changed a bit. I upgraded my computer in addition to the spohisticated flightcontrol-system i had bought in the meantime, and FS2000 became then my favourite flight simulator. FS2…

Ok, facecountis to hight but its like you get thereal CAD. I think thats the reason thatsometimes realy great Gmax models popup. We should realy look for helos in dxfor other formats.regards, Hobbes

How is the flight model with the standard FS 2002 Bell?I find it really hard to fly?Are there other helicopters that you can download on AVSIM? If so which would be good for a beginner? Thanks!Barry

Fellow chopper pilots,With helicopters, I crank up my flight stick sensitivity to 100% with no null zone. But once in a while I still love to do some fixed wing flying. Just curious if you guys change the sensitivity setting when you are flying fixed wing? I find full sensitivity actually makes flying fixed wing less realistic (well, not that i have flown a real plane)... Your reply would be much appreciated.Jonathan Kong

Here is a link to a story about our two-ship of Bell 407's that took a flight around Manhattan Island this weekend, using Scott's NYC scenery enhancement for Fly2 (see AVSIM file library under "Scott Cannizzaro"). Robert (Callsign-Helibird) and I (Callsign-SimPilot on Fly2 multi-player) landed at each of the four heliports in the Scott's NYC scenery, and also made a quick stop over at Liberty Island. It was great fun!http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...rum=DCForumID47Hope you enjoy our screenshots, posted to the screenshot forum!Wayne

Hello,I saw that someone can convert *.mdl filesto *.dxf by a tool called Mdl2dxf32d witch I can edit with my cad-program for dummies. It was told that it workson the great helomodels by Ian Standfast witchwere done for FS98 and FS2000 so all credits goes to thatgreat modeler. My question: because all that legal stuf can I go thatway and edit Ian's models -transparent windows, workingdoors, VDC!, etc.- for my privat use?regards, Hobbes

Just added a new place called Jb's Retreat. Nice lodge with a dock. Also added a Storage facility that has some storage hangars an open air hangar and a pilots office and lounge. That is about it for awhile. This makes a total of 10 places to fly into with a Helicopter. Some tight some not so tight . Get the update at www.flightsimsetc.dhs.org.Frank B^)
