I have a 3570k in my system and I have sort of inherited another PC which has a 3770k. So I am thinking about swapping the chips and putting the 3770k in my PC. Does hyperthreading make a [performance] difference in P3Dv2.5 or am I better off sticking with the 3570k I have currently?

Hi guys, Same as over on the aerosoft forums, but it's quieter there. I am quite worried about this one as I can't work it out. I am hitting massive issues running Olso Torp in p3d. The scenario is that in basic terms the sim grinds to a halt. If you look at the aircraft from any view it looks like it's speeding up and slowing down midflight/taxi. The fps drop all over the place from 40 - 11. I run p3d in advanced aircraft at 30-35 everywhere. Vancouver FSDT, Copenghagen Flytampa, UK2000 heathrow everything with no issue. This is related to this scenery only. What do you think is going on here? I've not seen anything like it before. Kind regard…

Anyone still having airport elevation problems after installing FTX Global Vector or have the problems been solved. My FSX install is based on most of the Orbx FTX areas, 10 FTX airports plus FTX Global. I also have approximately 50 freeware PhotoReal airports from numerous sources. I am wondering if FTX Global Vector continues to have some negative impact on many airports such as elevation, terrain errors or sinking runways. All of my other Orbx softeware has installed flawlessly with no conflicts with any other scenery areas or airports. Not willing to take the chance of messing up most of my other airports. I will hold off ordering if problems still persist.…

I want to install ORBX Global on my new lap top. I have installed FSX steam edition and it is working well. I have no other version of FSX installed. I am pushing 80 and am computer challenged. My question is: How strait-forward is the installation going to be. If it is complicated, I won't install ORBX fearing that I will mess up and screw up my system. Thank you in advance for any help that I can get.

Ok..I don't get this at all...if someone out there (Russian fellow) transposed them for FS9, why in the world, would not ORBX offer a 'from-0RBX/sanctioned' Global product for FS9. Obviously, this can be done....for it has been, via an un-official channel. So...I'd buy it....and for them, would be another revenue stream. They only have to convert...and not create... My thoughts... Ses

I started flying the first MSFS back in the mid 80's with an 8088 processor in CGA, and that was about 8 years after I got my PPL. I have had just about every version since then , and did all the tweaks, and suffered all the CTD's, lockups, and everything else that could go wrong with a PC program on a continual basis, until I finally gave up on FS and got it off my hard drive about 5 years ago. I very recently saw a video of the A2A C-172 on Youtube, and having flown one in real life for a couple of hundred hours, was amazed at how realistic this video looked. The next thing I knew, I was downloading P3D, and frankly was expecting this to be no different than the last ve…

First off let me say I love ORBX Palm Spring airport. Beautiful job ORBX. But since installing my sim stutters about every 10-15 seconds with FPS dropping from 45-60 down to 9 FPS momentarily causing annoying stutters. It did not due this prior to installation of Palm Springs and does not do this when I remove Palm Springs from my scenery file. Anyone else experience this and if so have you discovered a solution to the problem with stuttering? Thanks.

Folks, Is there any terrain.cfg editor that helps to organize the entries' numbers in the correct order. My last install of UTX was a mess, so a lot of work is needed. Thank you Dmitriy PS. Is there any way to restore the original terrain.cfg without reinstalling P3D. I understand that those add-ones that use terrain.cfg should be reinstalled as well.

I've avoided making any Bloom adjustments since I installed P3D V2.5 on my new main sim PC, but decided I'd try out a few changes and post my results: Location ...\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2\ShadersHLSL\PostProcess Backup these two files before proceeding to change them. File ... NVGBloom.hlsl Line 13 static const float BloomMagnitude = 2.0f; Line 15 static const float BlurSigma = 4.0f; File ... HDR.hlsl Line 12 static const float BloomBlurSigma = 2.4; Make sure P3D is NOT running when you make these changes. Also, delete your shaders folder after any file edits BEFORE you start P3D. Shaders folder location (example): C:\Users\YourUserName\App…

On the NL2000 forum I found a recent post saying that they're now working on P3D compatibility and even though it's a work in progress, it seems to be ready to give it a go. I installed a few airports, including EHAM, and did a couple of flights and so far everything seems to work just fine. I thought there might be some people here who would be interested to know.

A few people here still use FRAPS along with P3d, so I'm hoping that one of them can confirm something for me. Just by chance, I happened to notice that FRAPS runs only on Core 0 by default. That made me wonder if the stuttering that people have seen in P3d using FRAPS has something to do with the two apps fighting over Core 0 (which P3d generally pins at 100%). Could someone confirm this behavior for me? It is possible to push FRAPS off of Core 0 either with the Windows start command or changing the AM on the fly with Process Explorer/Task Manager.

Howdy folks! I want to increase my scenery/airport payware add ons and would like to know if the following sceneries are full compatible/working with P3D v2.5 (e.g. runway lights, papi, etc.) By http://fsdg-online.com/ Thessaloniki Kastellorizo - The Aegean Pearl Heraklion By http://29palms.de/index.php Skiathos X Mykonos X I have read that some are P3D v2.x compatible out of the box, but nothing like having real user feedback! I am having troubles with addons that are beeing advertised as v2.x compatible but don't work proprely (e.g. Aerosoft). I just want to be sure before I buy them... Regards, AK

Trying to remember what I did years ago when flying MSFS, I can't remember of I subscribed to updates on the Nav data back then . Now I have the 430/530 GNS and they have a subscription for Navadata available. My question is, if the data in the P3D which is used as the default database, is in step with the airport data, would not updating the database with a current one of today, then make the data out of sync with the default runways, airports, etc? I will most likely be flying General aviation flights, so I am wondering if getting a subscription for current nav data might be just a waste of money.

Hello Guys, I have recently upgraded my FSX with FTX Global Base, FTX Vectors, FTX OpenLC and FTX England and was wondering if some of the older addons that I have will be compatible with the ORBX software. I have some UK 2000 Scenery Xtreme Airports (Manchester + Liverpool) and would like to know if this is compatible with the new ORBX addons? Thanks

Hello all, I've been following an interesting development over the last few months. A member of AVSIM, AviatorMoser has been working on a worldwide Mesh upgrade for both FSX and Prepar3D using elevation data from NASA. He has released this addon today. He asked me if I could post it in the P3D General Forum for those folks that might have missed it in the FSX forum. Follow the link to the FSX Forum for all the juicy details! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/467933-freemesh-x-global-10-release-announcement/

Seeing as there is a great sale on Orbx airports, there are a couple I would like to get like Palm Springs and Juneau. I notice it says as Flightsimstore that you "must" have the regional areas installed to use these. Is this really the case? Being as I am a RW private pilot I rarely ever fly low and slow in FSX... I am all jets. If I had to buy these packs just to use a couple of airports it would be sort of a deal breaker. Can someone shed some light on this? Thanks in advance! Cheers, Pete

Folks, I've been reading that Prepar3D does "multi-channel" which, if I understand this correctly (Please don't let me be starting a bad rumour here :-) ) enables you to combine multiple, networked PCs to run different views (aka Wideview). Some questions for the gurus out there: - Have I understood this correctly ? - Anyone have any links to text on the matter - I can't seem to find anything ? - Related to the above, I can't seem to find any documentation with my Prepar3D install - am I being really dumb here ? - Any other info relating to this "multi-channel" much appreciated Answers on a postcard - preferably a large one with lots of details/experiences…

To start off, my P3D is set up on triple monitors (through Nvidia surround) on a GTX 980 and I use TrackIR as well. I keep reading posts where people are getting smooth frames below 60 FPS, and various advice about Vsync on/Vsync off, locked vs. unlocked. The only way I ever get a truly smooth experience is running unlocked frames and Vsync on within P3D, and only if the FPS is at least 60. If it dips below that, even 50 creates a stutter fest, especially when looking around with the TrackIR. Am I missing something? I used to use the 1/2 refresh rate in FSX and wish that that was a viable option in P3D, but as I understand it, that is not possible due to N…

I bought the Mindstar 430/530 GNS unit and it seems to work well with the exception of one thing. I don't seem to be able to get it to switch to the arrival airport frequencies when I am nearing the destination, so I can't tune in ATIS as I get close to the airport, the only frequencies it list are the departure airport frequencies. . Has anyone else noticed this, or found a work around, other than jotting down these frequencies before takeoff. Tried to delete this post, I found the answer in an online quick guide. The Waypoint page can select any airport and provide all the frequencies. Also, somehow my question was posted twice. If the moderator wants to d…

Hallo, I use the Trackir5 with P3d ver. 2.5 and I found it fantastic. If the default profile of the point of view is perfectly, for some airplane it is wrong. For my VFR flight I use the Alabeo's C207 and Trackir is wonderfull for look around the cockpit but when I see in front, the dashboard is too high and I don't see the horizon or the taxiways etc. I must lift the body on the chair but this is very unconfortable. There is a way for change the point of view so I can lift the view over the dashboard and allow me see over the dashboard the horizon the taxiways etc.? Thanks and bye-bye PS sorry my bad english :-)
