Bit of a noob question here sorry. I want the most accurate representation of the world with little to no fps hit. Here's where I get a bit confused. I can go and buy these three products 1) FTX global 2) FTX LC 3) FTX vector which if I am correct should make the whole world look a lot better and more accurate without any real performance hit. Heres the other thing though, I already own orbx NZNI and NZSI (new zealand north/south island). will these packages override all the above 3 products, if I am correct region specific packages like NZNI basically contain all the data that the above 3 products would but with even more detail and eye candy? I ha…

Hi, I tried the new vector light tool for use with UTX roads and I can tell you there is something changed in the terrain.cfg that definitly lowers my frame rates. I am upset because before I tried this my fsx was running very well, I could get well over 100 fps with the default trik in a test situation. I was wondering if anyone else is having this problem after trying this tool and if so did you fix it? I would really appreciate the help to fix this problem or just get my sim back to the way it was before, uninstalling the changes didn't fix my sim. I use FTXG, UTX, DX10 Fixer and all tests are with no weather program at a default airport clear skies. Thanks for…

I've noticed what appears to be water bleeding thru just in front of the aircraft in a few places near coastal areas but don't know how to go about determining what's amiss. I have P3DV2, FSGenesis mesh, FTXG, and REX4 TD installed. Ideas?

What can we look forward to in the near term? Obviously, the 0.5 update from LM, but what else? I'm awaiting these: 1. FSGRW 2. Orbx port over of PNW and other regions 3. FTX Northern California and Europe LC 4. Ideal Flight (new version being released any day now for FSX, but P3D version in the works--come on Steve!) 5. SimAir (will it ever be released?) and Air Hauler v2

I wonder if anyone has noticed this anomaly with P3D and aircraft shadows cast onto terrain? With FSX the aircraft ground shadows are a fake kind of shadow which gets placed over the terrain as a fixed polygon rather than a true rendered shadow. This shadow was generated from the exterior model however which allowed developers to delete all those parts and polygons not visible in the virtual cockpit which would save quite a few fps. In fact, you can easily cut the total number of polygons in half for the VC by removing those parts not visible from the cockpit (eg, landing gear, bottom of wings and fuselage, engine etc) . With P3D and the new shadow system this thr…

I bought FTX Global and love the enhancement. I would be interested in hearing from users if the FTX Vector software worthwhile to add for enhanced scenery. Thanks. Rob

Be nice to see poll results on this if you don't mind sharing your opinions. I'm on the fence on upgrading, in part because I like the one-piece all-in-one solution that REX3 E+ offers, and also haven't heard enough from users about water and other texture quality w/ REX4. And drive space is a consideration, though a minor one. Thanks in advance!

All I want for Christmas is P3D 2.0. I've even geared up with a 3770k (watercooled, OC'ed to a stable 4.7Ghz), 32GB, GTX 780 ACX (not yet OC'ed), and Windows 8.1. I've been waiting months with this system, and then with the frenzy of noise about the new version I finally broke and bought 1.4 a few days ago. It's nice, but I had FSX pretty well tuned already, thanks to years of lurking, studying (Thanks to all the experts, you know who you are) so I don't think I'll hang on to it. I actually broke down to install it to learn only one thing ... But I'll definitely be up early Monday morning downloading 2.0. The screenies and youtubes look awesome. I don't th…

I'm assuming that the only way at this point to use things like fsmap, rex latitude, etc via remote laptop is to use p3d v2 in legacy mode with the Estonia Migration tool.. So in my testing i've also noticed that the fps average is about 13 fps less (using my benchmark that i've done for p3d) in legacy mode than it is in standard mode.. I checked in P3D settings and tried to make sure all settings were the same there.. What i'm thinking is that the "fake" fsx.cfg that seems to appear with these contents each time needs to have some of the tweaks i did for the p3d one, in it.. but i'm not sure if this is accurate?: [Display] SKINNED_ANIMATIONS=1 [MAIN] FIBER_FRAM…

Can you edit the size of the sun in P3D2? To my eyes it's waaay too big at dusk and dawn so I'd like to make it smaller. I've tried the obvious by editing the suneffect.cfg file ('SunSize' line) but it seems to have no effect whatsoever. Any ideas?

I just purchased FTX Global and tried to install it to my Prepar3dv2 install (got it from flight sim store as a download) firstly unzipped the zip file in to a folder (got x1 file with FSS in the title (the wrapper I think) and looks and x9 other files with titles like FTXglobal10.2 10.3 up to 10.10 or so ) - note I unzipped the zipped download file into a separate folder on my D drive and my prepar3d install is my E drive. Then I ran the FSS application/wrapper file - this firstly checks my licence is ok - then it asked me if I want to back up my prepar3d textures which I did - then it finds my prepar3d install and starts to install FTXG however shortly after it …

I'm trying to figure out why, when I am in standard 2D cockpit view, I am not able to see my main instrument panel. I've gone into the "View" menu, clicked on "instrument panels" and have made sure to mark the "Main Panel" option. When I do that, the outside view gets pressed up to the top of the screen and I'm left with a big black area below the outside view where I presume the instrument panel would be, alas, no panel, just blackness. Any thoughts on what I've done wrong? I've tried this in many of the default P3D aircraft (i.e.- mooney bravo, baron, bonanza and maule) and all have same issue. I can get radio stack and GPS panels to open just fine. just can't g…

Hi guys, Does anyone know if there is a way to extend the radius of the 3d lights in FTX Global; see my screenshots below - the radius of the visible lights just seems far too close. Is there a setting I have set too low or is this just a limitation of the tech? thanks Running FTX Global v1.20 on Prepar3d v2 In this shot you can see the airport (UK2000 Edinburgh) illuminated ahead of me - making the gap between the Orbx 3d lights radius and other scenery more noticible

hi there, I´ve got a new strange behaviour for days. While standing on the ground, no matter where and which airplane, frames start at (let´s say) 50FPS. Then they start do decrease second per second until 13-19. No real weahter inhjected, blue sky, nothing special. anybody any idea? setting are fairly moderate, changing the sliders does not solve the problem. what could be the problem? maybe the SSD (which is about 1 year old)? Oh, I´m just remembering that I´ve inserted AffinityMask=14 (quad i5), maybe I should diable it and try again?! (not other tweak in the cfg!) I´ve never had such a behaviour before... thanks for any hint :-)

I just installed Prepar3D v2 on a computer with 2 hard drives. I have Windows7 op system on Drive:C and Other Flight sims on Drive: G. I wanted Prepar3d to be installed on Drive:G but I did not see any options on what drive it would be installed on. It installed on Drive:C Did I miss the options? Is there a way to install it on the Drive :G , instead on Drive:C

I recently purchased the Wilco TBM 850 for Pr3d v2. It installed ok and generally performs ok. However, there is one big problem that I have encountered: using the PFD or MFD to create an approach. I can select the type of approach such as an ILS, then when I want to choose the next type of fix or vectors, I can do that. Here is where the problem is: when I want to "activate the approach", it will not do anything and just sits there doing nothing. I wrote to Wilco support and they answered in a timely fashion. However, the answer they gave me did not seem to conform to be realistic. They told me to reinstall the aircraft and if that didn't work, to reinstall P3dv2. If e…

I noticed that when I create a flight and I select "high altitude airways" for the route, the route is thousands of miles long for a short flight. It appears that route information is corrupted. Also in the GPS window "facility information", when you select an airport with multiple ILS's and communication frequencies, you can't see all of them in the window. There is no way to scroll up or down. Thanks

Here is my modified TERRAIN.CFG entries for the UT section of roads, Urban and Rural, as well as Bridges. I suggest that you have my file open in one window, and your TERRAIN.cfg file open in another. Copy and paste to each section the VECTOR data line as I have, and boy..let me tell ya...your night world will LIGHT RIGHT UP......all major, and minor Urban and Rural. I have left dirt roads (rural) alone as they usually in the real world, do not have overhead street lighting. I would like to thank everyone in the other thread for discovering, adding to...and making ORBX Vector Lighting, now happen upon UTX roadways. The file that was attached by a contributor …
