I have been reading in some threads that some people use REX for textures and Opus for the weather engine since Opus does not offer textures. Is this the best way to go for weather set up? I have not purchased a weather program yet and just shopping now. Thanks. All options are welcome.

I have P3dv2 running. I have been playing around getting it running as smooth as possible, in which I have done a fairly good job considering my system is pretty cruddy. Theres an option in the menu I cannot get enabled "hardware tessellation" its a tick box and says it requires a restart I cannot get this to enable! tried enabling then restarting obviously. but it won't stay ticked. I kinda of thought this was a major pro point of v2, is that it offloads more work to the GPU hardware. Will it not enable because my GPU is not good enough? I know a lot of people are having to disable there's because of performance issues but I would like to at least try it out. My …

Dear All, Two questions : (1) Did anyone managed to get Emmen X (flylogic) to work under P3Dv2 ? I tried with EMT but no joy. Scenery is in the library but when I place a plane on that airport I see the default scenery. (2) How can I get carriers into P3Dv2 ? I've Installed the brilliant T-45c from Dino and would like to train carriers ops :-) Thanks in advance. Kind Regards

Anybody using an .fx file that can work as a taxi/landing light in P3Dv2. Looking for something to replace my A2A shockwave lights for now until there is a fix. thx

I just upgraded to the latest version and do not know what they did but the clarity of the textures around KFHR and KSEA was stunning. I saw some possible performance improvements in the KSEA area too but that's always difficult to prove. It all depends on the aircraft and other settings. Yet I've never seen things so clear in these areas before. Maybe it's DX10. Don't know. All I can say is I thank Orbx/PNW for the upgrade and hope they keep them coming! Best regards, Jim

Hi All Returning to Flight sims after quite a while I got hold of Prepar3D Academic and installed to seperate hdd. I then installed FSUIPC, ran Prepar3D, but where in FSX you would get the pop-up asking to accept a DLL file, in Prepar3D the pop-up does not appear. I am using windows 8.1 Is this usual ? Also not able to get RAAS working either, but thats a whole different kettle of fish Many thanks Whitetimer

FYI - OrbX / FlightSimStore have released the updated v1.1 installer of FTX Global so we can get that installed into P3D v2 right off the bat. That is all.

First of all I know most of the advantages of P3D v2 vs FSX but mine is a different condition because I dont use a high rig like most of the people uses. I am using a different setup than most of the people which can be seen in my profile. The fact is I have 650m GPU and I know P3D is much more depended on GPU than CPU so will it make any performance improvement for me or it will stay the same because I don't have a powerful GPU. Can someone give a technical look and help me before I waste my time If it doesn't worth it. I am using DX10 in FSX so try to compare the performance considering it. Thanks.

I currently have a 1GB GeForce GTX 560Ti graphics card, and I have noted all of the comments about P3D requiring at least 2GB VRAM to run properly. However, I am curious to know if a 1GB card would be OK if I decided to run P3D with all external shadows disabled (in other words, like FSX). Is it the shadows that require all of that VRAM, or something else?

Hi folks, First crash I've had in many many weeks now. When I exit V2, I get the hang then the "not responding screen. It shows a .dll as being the issue. I've not been able to find a solution. The "only" change is that I added the Aerosoft Twin-Otter Extended, which is P3D ready (supposedly). Thanks so much and have a blessed one. Tom

HI I have an issue with ftx central /global I have uninstalled pnw as I it has taken up too much storage of my ssd and am just flying in Australia and using ftx global now my question is that, once deleted I see that the ftx PNW icon is still in in ftx global/central can someone please guide me on how to resolve this issue thank you Anyone? :mellow:

I purchased this aircraft from the Flight Sim Store because said it was P3DV2 compatible, so I downloaded the AC. It came with its on install wizard. The install only took about 3 seconds and said finished download successfully. When I went to the LM P3DV2 file, sim objects, aircraft, the Carenado King Air file was not there. I do not have FSX on this computer so the file could not have gone there. I selected P3D on the install wizard prior to download. I went over to my control panel and checked Features & Programs to see if it was there and it was, however, I cannot find the file anywhere. I thought that you enabled AERO by setting your Background / Desktop Theme in Windows 7. I just read on another from that there is also an "Aero Peek" option located in another Windows configuration (Performance management / taskbar properties). Does P3d require just the "Areo" theme or the "Areo Peek" option enabled? Or are they one in the same, triggering each other?

Has anyone ran into this.. i have p3d up running.. a flight loaded.. its just sitting there paused, then suddenly, its gone.. the exe is gone from taskmanager.. vanishes.. I'm not sure what is causing this.. i suppose next would be to try to disable a few of the addons i've ported using Estonia.. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this..

Is anyone using this addon with similar spec to mine (see sig)?I'd VERY much like this addon, but fear I'll end up with an FSX slide show.

I recently tried to use the Flight Planner in P3D v2. Based on my results the flight planner does not work. Or is not included. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks in advance to all who reply. Bill

My understanding is that ExternalSim is a subset of SimConnect. If so, is the recommended method of writing an ExternalSim add-on still to build it out-of-process, as an application (an .exe file) rather than in-process, as a library (a .dll file)?

Since p3d v2 has all or most of the important graphic settings built in, is there any reason to even mess with nvidia inspector? We can set pretty much everything inside the sim now. So what benefit do we get from using nvidia inspector if any?

Despite using ORBX Aero setting and Rex runway textures I always see the default out of focus runways. It is the same in P3d V1.2 & 2 as well as FSX. I have tried all slider and value setting to no avail.

Hello everyone - I am nearly migrated completely from FSX to P3D 1.4 after just purchasing the professional license. So far I have migrated some add-ons... PilotEdge, REX, Elite USB controls driver, and some others with no problems yet... On the FSX drive I have left the full state of California MegaScenery and the FSX folder. Any recommendations on what files I should save from the FSX folder before I uninstall FSX? Maybe some CFG files? And please no trying to change my mind and keep the FSX install alive... I have just been too happy with P3D thus far!

Have been using P3D2 for about six weeks now, and thought that I was convinced it was absolutely superior to FsX. In particular the weather effects and the longer range autogen had made it difficult for me to go back to FsX. But I have the Razbam Metroliner in both FsX and P3D2 and have been flying both of them. The only reason I went back to flying it in FsX at all was to be able to fly in all of my ORBX FTX regions (while we wait on Orbx to prepare P3dw installers). I have been attempting to open the aircraft menu in Lockheed Prepar3D, but each time I try, it crashes to the desktop. I have tried repairing P3D because of my recent attempt of installing ENB series, but that wasn't the problem. I have imported several of my FSX addons to the sim and they work with no problem. I recently installed a new livery to my QualityWings 757 which was working perfectly, when I installed the new livery, it stopped. I will try to uninstall the QW 757 to see if that's my problem. If not, then I don't know what is. Thank you
