This aircraft has once been a part of our flying club hangar. The civilian Super Skymaster LN-TVY cooperated with the Norwegian marine, and was used for radar testing and target seeking operations. When finished duty, it ended up at a museum in Bodoe. The original TVY was a Cessna 337D Super Skymaster

Its more of general Carenado question, but since the C337 is the first on my list to adjust, I thought to post it over here. I'm running a setup with one monitor for the main view (cockpit and outside view) and a second monitor, build in a hardware panel, to show the main part of the panel. Since Carenado doesnt have 2D panels, this way my frame rate gets a tremendous hit from the rendering of the second monitor scenery behind te panel. I asked Carenado on how to solve this, but since this is not covered by official support, they directed me to the forums to ask how to do that. So the main idea is to switch off the rendering of scenery behind a panel view, so that it w…

I've been looking online for flying guides and found several for the C337H. Thing is, several of them mention manifold pressure and the ones I've found mention that, for the H, it should be 35 Hg on takeoff. This model's gauge doesn't even go that high. The D model info I found mentions manifold pressure of 25 Hg...top of the green arc. So, is this a D? Gregg

I've just installed the Skymaster in P3D v2.2, and am dazzled by it all...particularly the instrument panel lights at night. Does anyone know if this dimmer switch works ? It moves when you click on it, but doesn't have any effect in P3D v2.2 as far as I can tell. Perhaps its a P3D thing and it only works in FSX. I don't have FSX installed any more, so I can't test it there. Any help gratefully received.

I'm having some problem programming the Autopilot Pitch to the pitch trim on my Saitek Multi Panel. This is what I've done: In SPAD, I opened the setup page of the Multi Panel and on the Trim tab, I set both directions to an FSUIPC virtual button. Both with unused virtual joystick and virtual button numbers, of course. Then I logged the AP Pitch in the virtual cockpit, which showed the AP_PITCH_REF_INC_UP/DN. I send the virtual button from SPAD to FSUIPC by clicking Send-button-to-flight-sim button and programmed the respective AP_PITCH_REF_INC commands to the buttons send from SPAD. When I check the log as I now move the trim on the Saitek panel, I get multiple l…

Today, halfway my flight, I noticed that the fuel consumption from both tanks was out of balance. The left tank had about 2/3 of fuel in the tank, while the right one was almost full. I have been looking all aorund the cockpit for a crossfeed for the fueltanks, but I couldnt find anything. Is there a crossfeed somewhere around, or is there some other way of dealing with this?

I have the fs9 vertion of the Carenado 337 and I noticed that it came no where near the cruise performance on the climb chart(it was only cruising at around 120-130 knots at max cruise power) and it climbed slightly slower than it should at max gross weight. I went into the CFG file and changed it to being turbocharged and made the max manifold pressure 37(which is full power with a real c337h) and made the critical altitude 1 because I wanted it to be non-turbocharged. When I loaded the plane It came very close to the cruise speeds but high power settings were slightly slow and low power settings were slightly fast but those are the limitations of Microsoft flight sim th…

Reading the normal checklist it appears that you use the fuel pump only before starting the engine and only the HI fuel pump. Is that correct ? Is there any other part of the flight when you have to use fuel pump for this particular aircraft ? (it's an high wing so I guess gravity does the job and there is no need to engage the fuel pump before take off and landing as usual but I 'm not sure) Do you ever use the LOW fuel pump ? (I guess if it exist they must have some kind of purpose)

I'm having trouble finding how to program the fuel selectors to a hardware controller, through FSUIPC. I started by logging the selectors and found that they only use 1 single command, the Fuel Slector Set. But whatever I tried, I couldnt get this command to do anything at all, when programmed to a controller switch. Then I tried to just program all fuel selector functions in the list to controllers, but I couldnt find anything that would make the virtual selectors respond. Since it are 3-way selectors, I was planning to use the swtches on my Saitek Throttle Quadrant, one for left, one for mid and one for right, but since I get no result whatsoever, I'm getting stuc…

I'm using a Saitek Pro Flight auto pilot panel, in P3D 1.4 and I'm having trouble setting up the ALT HLD. When I activate the ALT HLD function on the panel, it sets an altitude of 0ft, like the autopilots from the native aircrafts would do, where you first have to set a desired altitude before you engage the ALT HLD. The Nav-O-Matic 400 from the C337 cant pre-program a desired altitude and has to set the current altitude at the moment you press the ALT HLD button, as people will know. How do I setup my Saitek auto pilot panel, via SPAD and FSUIPC, so that the ALT HLD will work as it works in the C337?

Miss the usefulness of the RMI. Anyway to add the default FSX RMI (King Air or Baron) to replace the ADF gauge. I experimented, but my prior experience is just swaping radio stacks. Regards

Just logged about 25 hours recently in this model. During a long flight, with time to mess around, I thought to myself... What if my RXP GNS530 failed. I certainly still have a working NAV2 radio and instrument. But I went over the panel with a fine tooth comb and could not find a way to toggle the autopilot to NAV2. The documentation is paltry. Is there a way to do this that I have missed?

I just bought this unit this week Dec 2013 in case someone reads this in the later year . Got it cheap for a xmas price-- the HD . I have Opus weather and took off out of Port Hardy for Vancouver in FSEconomy didn't get up to 9,000feet and the ol girl started slowing down and losing engine power big time.. right away I looked for icing switches and had the pitot switch on, so I hit the "H" key for icing and she come to live right away and the engines sparked back up . Is this all normal in this bird running when it comes to icing? Louis

Hi everyone. I'm just wondering if anybody has been able to get the landing light on the C337H to "work" - that is, to illuminate the runway / ground when coming in to land? It seems pointless to me to have such a nice VC lighting system, but not be able to do any night work with it. I have tried landing at a few GA airports at night, and most are nearly impossible to land at safely without a working landing light. You are really just guessing at where there touchdown point is. Thanks guys. Cheers -- Pete.

Hey guys, I recently uploaded the Skymaster repaint 'Electric Blue'. http://library.avsim...crp&DLID=175369 I have flown GA planes at night before in the realworld, and I always felt that the Skymaster's nightlight was pretty but it was too bright for realistic night flying for me. For Electric Blue, I dimmed the night lighting for what I felt would be an appropriate level for night flying. Before After If you would like to use this night lighting on all your Skymaster paints, move cessna337_(1-3)_night.dds and both gauges_337 night dds files from texture.n37tj to texture.common. Backup/remove the equivilent bmp textures already in the t…

I really like this plane but on my system, the longitudinal stability just seems not right. The altitude indicator and the rate of climb indicator are always shifting much too rapidly. ex: The plane can start an assent from 0 to 1500 ft per minutes in a fraction of a second. Then if I push on the yoke, he will start a descent in less than a second also to the maximum descent rate. I'm always chasing the altitude and the plane react as if it has no inertia at all. Just seem wrong even if I haven't flown C337 in real life. I have a CH product yoke and I adjust my axes with FSUIPC. All my other airplane are stable but only this one is overreacting. I have put a slop…

Having flown alot of vintage lately, I'm getting used to monitoring CHT, carb heat etc to avoid engine failure. I know this C337 has cowl flaps controls, and what appears to be an advanced fuel mixture model. So, is it possible to get engine failure or at least damage if you push it too far or neglect the temperatures?

Hello Folks, I think that the T337H Skymaster is a 337G which received minor changes and an optional turbocharged engine, so, i had a look at the cfg file and of course the turbo "option" is = 0.Any folks around here for a proper modified cfg for a Turbocharged version ?I tried modifying some values but the result was = #####, the world was spinning around like hell, no nothing was working, even the ctrl-shfit F1 did nothing...Anybody for this challenge ?Cheers.

I'm setting up my new hardware controller for my Skymaster and I use FSUIPC's logging to look up the controllers I have to program on the switches. Now with both switches from the right fuelpump, I noticed that they dont send any control to the logging page and I cant find any controller they will respond to. Can someone tell me which controllers I have to assign in FSUIPC for the right fuel pump hi and lo switches, please? Thanks
