Hey Guys,First off, I know the photo is not taken at the gate, I was just messing! This is the first time in FSX that I have seen the option to have a ground based air-con unit added to your aircraft to keep your crew and passengers comfortable before engine start. In the photo you can see the air con unit with the rather meaty yellow hose connected to the belly of the aircraft. You can also see the ground power unit and air starter units. Each of these three units are available to you independently according to your needs. Yes, they really work too, with your onboard systems being appropriately affected! After the discussion thread on hot aircraft, I wanted to show you the…

Ok this is going to be an odd question. First of all no I am not a cockpit builder, but I would like to build one in the near future. So my question is two-fold, regarding the NGX.1. For current B737 cockpit owners who have a few displays for their "out the window" views will the HUGS show on this display when in use?2. Is the HUGS a gauge that can be directed to a home-made HUD (hard to implement I know) similar to how you can send gauges to another monitor. As I doubt I would never make a HUD for my home cockpit I guess I am more interested in being able to see the HUGS on the out the window view (I don't know the name of this view, but in the J41 it is called Cockpit and…

Hi All,I watched a 1 hour "air disaster" documentary the other day. Back in 1983 when the Boeing 767 was brand new to the airlines. Apparently while enroute a duel engine fairlure resulted at 26,000 ft on a air canada flight. The captain dead sticked it into an abandoned military airstrip, which was used for local street or mortorcycle racing. There we races going on and the captain had to do a hard side slip (like that would be done in a Cessna 172) on the Boeing 767 to get on the ground. The captain had alot of glider experience also. Nobody has ever been able to recreate this in the airline simulators. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimli_GliderThe investigation conclud…

Gang,I am sure that a lot of you, like me, really enjoying flying the long over water ETOPS flight, so I wanted to share a little info on that. The NGX can be configured - realtime without leaving your flight situation, as an ETOPS or non ETOPS aircraft. You can select the additional battery and additional fire protection required for these over water operations and configure your aircraft as ETOPS ready for these longhauls - the flight from LA to Honolulu being a good example.Once your aircraft has been configured by yourself with the necessary equipment it is ETOPS certified for your journey, as you can see from the placard hereAlternatively, if you have your aircraft c…

Hi,As a cockpit builder I am very eager to get hold on the SDK for the new PMDG B737NGX soon to be released. My simple question to PMDGis:Will you release the SDK at the same time together with the aircraft software when it is released, or do we need to wait days, weeks or months for the SDK.Best regards and a successful release.Roar Kristensen

Hello. I was wondering if the retail version on the NGX will play nice with Project Magenta for us cockpit builders. Or even if a cockpit builder version might be considered. ThanksGianluca

I was tearing up and down the parallels at EGKK testing the RTO function and while doing so happened to look at her sillouhetted against the conglomeration of buildings and the glow of lights that comprise any large airport at night. Suddenly, testing took a back seat to entrancement. The fuselage has substance- truly a 3 dimentional tube, with the archetypal Boeing nose at one end and the characteristically tall filleted tail at the other. In between, the detail is stunning.First you have to know that while I write, I actually had to turn the sound down. In the forward externals, it's properly horrendous, with that sensory overloading shreak of jet engines idling up …

Patience! I've read all the posts & seen the various reactions to updates from the PMDG team & it made me wonder about those who have showed restraint & those who have not. I wonder what will they do first when this bird is theirs? It made me think about me too, will I start parked at a gate with the deck in a cold dark state. Will I go through setting her up & then munch my way throughthe check list like I've planned? With the other PMDG planes I've always cut to the quick & pushed back as soon as possible but this new bird makes me want to do it the correct way. I a real aircraft you just follow the procedures in pc based flight sims it always seems …

Captains,As always I apologize ahead of time if this has already been discussed; I have yet to see anything like what I am getting at. Anyways, I know that the 747 has a tiller that is used for taxi operations. Just to make sure, the 737 NG does not have a tiller, right? I was also wondering, is there any way to just use the tiller for taxi in the 747 in FSX? Another thing, during 737 NG taxi, does the rudder move? If there is no tiller, the rudder pedals must be manipulated, which also control the rudder of the airplane. The reason I ask is that on a recent trip to Newark, I noticed how some aircraft were turning during ground operations with no rudder movement. Any elab…

I've searched but I can't find any reports from the wide beta testers regarding the frame rates they're getting with the NGX. Is that still subject to the NDA?Reason I'm interested is I'm trying to decide whether I need to upgrade / replace my current PC (E8400 Core 2 Duo + 4GB RAM + GTX260 + Win7 64bit) ready for the NGX. I'm getting reasonable performance with the MD11, especially in the 2D cockpit, but the Jetstream even with the options turned down is a less smooth experience.Andy Lawton

Just a thought for the future.... Maybe... not sure but..... maybe once a plane reaches a certain point of development, say Wide Beta.......We could maybe pre-order the plane so that when it comes out...... all we would have to do is log in and download.... Might help the servers a little on release day. Anyways, just a thought. Feel free to shoot me down in a giant fiery blaze.

Just observation When an announcement is made usually from RSR, there is a flurry of excitement and then dies away very quickly. This is the case with the Beta Testers.... let me explainCouple of days after the 9th July announcement Markadeane posted some beautiful screen shots and Lasnubes has posted some great posts minus screen shots. Markadeane post was deleted because of some remarks made on that thread, so why not just delete the remarks and leave the screen shots on?Now I would say there's more than a dozen Beta testers if not more testing the latest build and according to RSR thte latest build is nearly there or the wide beta team would'nt have got it, now my poin…

Greetings!I've gotten a lot of fun hours in the MD-11 but something that always annoyed me was the VNAV system. Not because it wasn't realistic, but because it required entry of winds aloft to function accurately, and getting accurate data out of FSX was always a pain. On almost every flight the airplane would be off profile on descent because I didn't have the "right" numbers in the FMC. I know PMDG has spent a lot of time getting the VNAV on the NGX just right and I'm curious how the predicted winds function has been implemented. Are we still going to need to manually plug in wind data from somewhere else or will this be somehow automated?

Are tire blowouts simulated in the NGX? If so, will the aircraft "slump" to the side in favor of the blowout? The reason I'm asking this is because even with crash detection on I still can frequently make hard landings in FSX and know that I should of had consequences for doing so but never see them...

Hi, I was watching the Customize on the Fly... video. And I thought, is it now maybe possible to put pdf documents on the yoke to read STAR/SIDS? The pdf can maybe be zoomed up a bit with a click and have a designated are space to not conceal other instruments. You choose which pdf from your computer/folder. You can do it before flight or during. You can have browse button activated somewhere on the yoke? Maybe the yellow checklist knob? You may store maybe 10pdfs there and scroll between them with mouse wheel?I dont know if it is possible and relatively simple but while in VC it certainly may help to set up everything...Have a nice day everyone.

Will anyone be making a BBJ-style paint for this thing? I realize there are actually BBJ variants but all of my NGX flying will be general aviation N number style.

I've loved aeroplanes all my life. Through it all, I've loved one more than all others. Ever since that early morning in August of 1981 when mom and I first set foot on a B747 the Fat Girl has stolen my heart. Through the years it's been a continuous love story. I remember chatting with Hardy and Mel on CompuServe and Hardy telling me to buckle my seatbelt and hold on for the ride. That first beta of PS1 was amazing. Mel coached me on the finer points of driving her across the globe. His admonitions that she burns an average of 12T fuel/hour has been inviolate as a rough calculation- even on 12 hour routes. When I was first introduced to the PMDG 747-436 I thought…

While not particularly focused on the wing view, I happened to look out there today- and was transfixed- so I thought I'd share. You know that distinctly flat grey bonded aluminum stressed skin paneling that the 737 has on the upper inboards? The NGX has them too. The black streaks of carefully blended hydraulic fluid, grease and dirt that wisp back from operating surfaces, diminishing in opacity until they vanish with the wispy tendrils of high velocity air towards the trailing edge- yep- there on the NGX. The NO STEP markings and wing exit arrows and pathways- all looked like they're supposed to. That particular Boeing flap canoe shape that is so familiar from hours…

Hey lucky testers,I know I've brought up the topic in the past but so far have not had a reply IIRC, and since we should be much farther down the road by now, I thought maybe there might be a new status as to if RAAS will be an option on the NGX or not, or maybe for a future update. I'd so much like to have this feature as it seems to become more and more common. Plus it's been said by the devs it might be feasible for the T7 if they had accurate rwy data (which I suppose they should have). I know this means nothing as to if the NGX might or might not have it, but oh well I'm still dearly hoping for it.Thanks!
