PMDG MD-11 (Legacy Version)

  1. Started by captain_adf,

So I'm just putting the finishing touches on my newest FS build, one that will carry me through the next 3-4 years or so, and I have said goodbye to FSX, having finally jumped over to P3D. But before I disassemble the old system there is one last flight to make. I'll be ferrying my sweet MD-11 to the boneyard. Parting with this bird is no easy decision, but I don't want to maintain 2 Sims and no I won't consider circumventing the EULA. So here we go, one last time, westbound from Stansted. Yum

Does anyone have an idea how to cure this faulting module error message that flags up in EventVwr when the MD-11 crashes FSX-SE on loading, yet when that particular DLL is deactivated, it loads up albeit without any animations, i.e. cannot click on anything on the overhead, etc? Correction. That should be Faulting Module\gauge\ PMDG_MD11_ACS.dll

  3. Trying to install the MD-11 for FSX off my disk, but Windows 10 which seems to think it knows better, blocks the Setup.exe with a flag that 'the administrator(me)has blocked access to the Setup.exe', which is a bit odd as well as maddening. How can a setup on a disk be suspicious in comparison to a downloaded file? Any clues anyone, or is this a case of Microsoft Windows 10 gone mad?

  4. Dear PMDG fans and developers, I have strange issue on my newly build Intel i7 6700K PC. I cannot install the DVD-ROM with either the MD-11 (FSX) or the 747 (FSX) Queen of the Skies. I get a useless error 'A secured module cannot be activated' which terminates the installation. Newer DVD-ROMS install just fine, like the PMDG 737 for example or the JS4100. This problem persists with the older DVD's installations. I thought it was software emulator but removing it did not help. This problem sickens me. Can someone help me please? Thanks! Peter

  5. Hi guys, does anyone know if this new gauges could be integrated in the VC or will it be? I think only PMDG could do it, so is there any plan by PMDG staff? Alternatively could be possible to create a shortcut to display this gauge as 2d popup w/o using FSX menu to recall it? or insert a clickable area inside VC to click over to display 2d gauge? I'm using it with MD11 and am very happy, but every time I change my camera view (with EZCA) 2d gauge disappears, so I need to click a spot or shortcut to recall it. Many thanks for reply. Ric

Alright, I know that I already made a thread with one of my problems but I decided I'll just create another one and put all my questions down now. Question 1: When flight planning, I have always used Simbrief and it always gave me accurate fuel values and routes I could use, but it doesn't seem to quite work the MD-11. I always to have to little fuel according the MD_11 and need to add like 50k lb of fuel to make it. Am I doing something wrong in simbrief or something? Question 2: During departure, I always seem to have the problem that the MD-11 won't accelerate. Then when I put up the flaps, the speed will then go up but my MD-11 will then be in the red zone for…

Hi, so I got the MD-11 earlier today and I've been enjoying it so far but I've had a few problems. One of those being that when I took off out of PHNL on I believe the MKK4 departure, where you have to use heading to guide yourself to the first way point. the plane climbed like normal to the altitude I set, 5000 ft. What was strange though was that it did not level out or anything at 3000ft to speed up, instead it kept going as if it was a rocket....figuratively. Anyways, I let it go, and after getting to 5000 ft, I raise the altitude again, start raising flaps, and it's fine. And then my plane is accelerating beyond 250 knots, and I am pulling the hair out of my head as …

I realize that it's a normal thing for aircraft about 18k ft to have reduced climb, and I'm wondering if there is a trick to get more than .1 on a climb after this? Patrick Boynton

  13. I'd go from overspeed to undersspeed to somewhere inbetween to back to one of the others in matters of seconds, and if you are just slightly low speed your aircraft will dip in the MD 11s case, and it can be frustrating dealing with RC4, What causes the random fluctuations? Patrick Boynton

I know people have mentioned that they cannot install their MD11 onto their computer with MS10, but my problem is that it is telling me to contact Tech support. Do I still need to go to the website and login to do this or can it be taken care here. Thank you Robert P Armstrong

I brought this out of retirement for the first time in a very long time, and my one problem with this bird is that it will not stay at the FMC speed, it always flies well below, sometimes to the point of causing the aircraft to dip, and if you use RC4 like me you're going to get yelled at the whole flight. Is it because I was not at the optimal cruise altitude? Patrick Boynton

I thought I could get manage this by 'bumping' the brakes on landing and turning off the autobrakes at around 60KIAS, but for some reason or another the brakes even so sometimes refuse to go off and I end up stuck on the runway, brakes locked. Even reloading the flight (AutoSave) or aircraft doesn't help, brakes are still on and nothing I do (limited possibilities!) changes it. Has anyone found a way to unlock them, or is that the end the flight (unless I slew the a/c to the gate!)?

I have noticed that although the correct ILS and LOC details are entered into the FMC of the PMDG MD11, on final, the locator line on the NAV display is slightly to the right of centre each time on all runways. I have the current AIRAC installed. Can any member suggest what may be wrong here or suggest a solution please? Thanks Quote Edit

Hi guys, I have had the MD-11 for quite a while, but I recently bought EZCA for fsx, and am looking for a decent profile for it. I have read through the forums but it seems no profile has actually been shared. Is there anyone here willing to share theirs with me? Help would be greatly appreciated.

I still revert back to the MD11 from time to time and its still a joy to fly, it's never crashed FSX, has fab frame rates and the sound within the cockpit is soo soothing!  One aspect i've never quite understood however, is the thrust reduction in relation to entered temp. With the fab 777 and reasonable load, I can enter flex to temp of 65 and it will "feel" heavy on acceleration, use up 3/4 of the runway or more with a gentle climb out. The MD 11 however with a reasonable load and flex temp of 70 still causes the passengers to choke on their false teeth on take off and then climbs like the space shuttle allowing the passengers to retrieve them …

  20. hi all, Instead of relying on the load manager, can I enter the info there directly using the FMS? For maximum realism I would like to do this but I don't know whether this works or the load manager is doing something else than what is available in the FMS. Thanks in advance.

After take-off and Auto Flight mode is engaged, ATC at some point turns me towards my flight route. I am a bit confused though, because if I am in HDG mode, the a/c will not turn towards the heading I have selected, in fact it turns in the opposite direction. The a/c only responds 'normally', arriving at the heading value I have entered, if I select TRK (pulling the HDG/TRK knob in all cases) I don't understand this. Is it me or the a/c that is at fault here? Shouldn't the a/c turn and then maintain the heading shown in the instruments when I am in HDG mode?

  22. Another little issue. I have noticed that on descent, the QNH value gets 'stuck'. No matter how I try to change it, with the dial or pressing /pulling the 'Baroset' knob - the numbers try to change for a fraction of a second but they jump back immediately to whatever the value they are stuck at. It may be that they sometimes 'stuck' at the correct value (today yes, but yesterday no, the QNH I couldn't change was very wrong), but whatever, I have never flown a plane where the pilot cannot change the QNH setting even so. Is this a 'feature' of the MD-11? Thanks for comments and a 'fix' if appropriate!

  23. Hi. I have been reading through the pdf manuals but am still not 100%... Could a 'flap expert' kindly let me know if this is correct: During taxi I set flaps to 22 degs using the 'dial-a-flap'. I set spoilers to armed and I get a green box...After take-off, and when I pass the FR marker, I retract flaps - there only seems to be one increment, from 22 degs to slats (what happened to 15 degs?). Then, passing the SR mark I retract the slats... basically OK? The green indications 'F35', just above 'FR', and then also 'GE' and 'SE'. These have no significance after take off, do they? They are only for descent, no? I also sometimes find that, even though I have set …

Hi, I haven't flown this a/c for a couple of years (for various reasons) so am overdue for a few days with it am loving getting to know it again! I am flying with the Overhead Panel set to 'Manual' where necessary, and I think I have set all the switches, pumps etc. correctly. The plane flies just great anyway. However, whenever I have the systems set to 'Manual', I get the corresponding system shown as an orange notification on the cockpit instruments: HYD ELEC AIR FUEL. Is that just to show that I have the aircraft systems in manual mode? Or that I have made an error somewhere in setting up the overhead panel? There are no other warnings or notifications. Thanks…

I can control the flaps using my Saitek X52 as I put them down, but when I want to raise them there are no increments via the X52, it goes from full flaps to flaps up with one click and then slats up at the next. I do also use the 'Dial-a-Flap' but is there a simple way to fix things so that the flaps will work properly via the X52 as well? Thanks.
