Hi all. Long time X-Plane user here. Usually prefer to use X-Plane on the Mac, but I'm now running a Windows 8.1 install with X-Plane as I want to also use SimAVIO for touchscreen Avionics on an external monitor (only want to use 1 computer as it's plenty powerful for it all). What I'm noticing is much better performance on the Mac install (10+ fps better) with identical settings, identical setup, everything identical. Have others found Mac better than Windows for X-Plane? Bumming me out. Runs so much better on my Mac install but I need to use Windows to do my SimAVIO thing. :-(

Just a little Eye-Candy

So far I have only been able to see sale of XPlane 10 as a DVD product. If that's the only option it's very alone in that regard. By now are we not past buying products on discs instead of direct download? Also I see an USB stick for $30 that would make it possible to run XPLane 10 with out a disc in the drive. Why should I need to buy a stick for such a high price only for that purpose? It was a long time since I needed a disc in the drive in order to run a program.

Hi, I have recently purchased the 777 worldliner from Ramzees. I have tried to tune the radio to the various ATIS frequencies activated them and got nothing. I have no ATC at all just the load the flight plan menu which does nothing. How do I get taxi instructions and vectors etc. Which radios on the pedestal are the comms and which are the Navs? Any guidance in these areas would assist me greatly in dealing with my frustration. Thanks, Jamie

I moved XP10 to a new physical drive (dragged and dropped entire folder - maybe a bad idea?) anyway for some reason my default Baron flight has the entire aircraft in a cold and dark state,. How do I set it up so the aircraft is ready for taxi?

Hello, I have several Saitek Pro Flight Switch (and other) Panels that work perfectly in FSX, yet I cannot seem to get them to work correctly in X-Plane. I have installed the Saitek plug-in, but it seems that it will make it so that everything has to be done through the Saitek panels and it locks out the switches in the virtual cockpit. With FSX, if I want to turn the BAT switch on within the virtual cockpit, I'm free to do that, even with the Saitek panel active. I can still start the aircraft within the virtual cockpit and use the Saitek panel gear lever to raise the landing gear, or the radio panel to set the radios. I read in the commetary field of a youtube revieww of XPlane 10 stating that there are no VOR ILS NDB in Xplane 10. Is this really true? I had VOR ILD NDB on my Commodore 64 based flight simulatror.

Hello everybody! Is there any way to select the route that AI will fly ? it files a new plan (by the way,, all of them too long for me) .... each time "AI flies your plane" is selected I tried filing a plan just before selecting 'AI flies your plane' option but it doesn't work.... it just keeps filing new flight plans PD: It would ok for me at least if I can choose destination airport.

Hi guys, inspired by past discussions among jcomm and others, I want to jump into jetliner payware airbus territory. Which is a good first one? Fbw and handflying are most important to me. I'm hoping the package includes a good tutorial or quick flight documentation. The ones most often mentioned for few performance are peters a321 or the qpac. Is this still the case? One of the things that has always bothered me is XPX seems slaved to the Desktop Resolution. I run my desktop at 1920x1080, but would like to run XPX at a lower resolution full screen and not some centered video. Am I alone with this?

I tried the demo of XPlane10 when it was released. One glitch I encountered was this. I could get out below a cloud deck in have a clear view of the ground. Then after further descent I could find myself inside clouds that had not been visible before. When I mentioned it here I think I was told that the developers where aware of the problem. So has this been fixed yet?

Anyone have any luck using the XPlane exporter in Sketchup to create a light effect? While I slept, the Xplane gremlins were at work, putting a glitch into my otherwise perfect Xplane setup. Maybe someone can help. When I fired it up this morning, the whole Xplane main window was stuck in the upper lefthand corner of my monitor. I can't move it, resize it, or anything. As I said, it was fine when I went to bed last night. Wot happened?? Anyone have any ideas? Ive tried resizing screen, deleting preferences, etc. Thanks in advance.

I'm in Toronto and training R/L toward a PPL. I've been a long-time simmer. I'd like to sharpen radio and circuit skills. Wondering who is using either VATSIM, IAVO or Pilot Edge for Toronto. Also, when there's no ATC available, do these products allow a reasonable or even barely passable simulation of Unicom or ATF type communications & traffic? Who is using what product - where/when are the best chances to find like-minded pilots?

Hi there! Since yesterday (I just installed P3D on XPX's dedicated drive, to give it a go and see it in person), I have a very strange problem with XPX 10.25 64bit: The sim runs as always, very smooth, no problems during flight. But whenever I select "File -> Quit" from the menu, to exit the sim, an error pops up saying "X-Plane totally ran out of memory..." and my rendering options get reset. I tried to load different locations all over the world, different planes, payware, freeware, default ones, but every time I close the sim, the error comes up. What has happened here?

I know I have seen this mentioned before but cant remember what forum or thread but can anyone tell me what causes this and if there is a way to cure it? I find it rather anoying to be sitting in the VC and have the ground shaking/twitching around the aircraft when looking out the window. I realize this is rather vague but I'm hoping its common enough I need not post a screenshot or explain system details etc.
