Hardware Controllers: Joysticks/Yokes | Throttle Quads | Rudder Pedals | Drivers etc

This is a forum to discuss issues with Joysticks, pedals, yokes, other interface hardware like panels, etc.

  1. Started by Otterpilit,

I Upgraded my Computer, and found the following Problem. I am Using windows 10, P3Dv4.4 and exclusively fly the PMDG B-747 B777, and Primarily the B-737 NG, using a Saitek X52 control. After my re-install i found that the aircraft on takeoff and after landing will start to turn to the right and usually uncontrollable. I am wondering if it is a hardware problem not software. Thoughts or Fixes? Thank you Ken Hand

Hi all, The little time I have to search the forums regarding yokes I’m gathering that ACE is not such a great choice. However these negative comments are more than a year ago. Has anything changed since then with ACE products for the better? Im looking for a USB b747 yoke preferably with a vertical pole rather than a desktop type. Unfortunately ACE seems to be good value for money if they’re still in production these days. Any help would be appreciated IM

  3. Hi all, I've just had my VRInsight Flight Master Yoke III arrive. SPAD.next knows the hardware all OK!!!! but, there is always a but... programming the switches etc is a proving to be a pain.. 🙂 Would anyone nice person out there have a ready made profile for SPAD & Flight Master III (or maybe II) yoke? You might save a good part of my life if you do... 🙂 Thanks in advance Brad

  4. Started by Dragn,

Hi All, While doing some testing I backed up my to appdata/roaming-local folder for P3Dv4.4 and let the sim build new ones. Had to reset some settings and recalibrate my Saitek Cyborg EVO controller. In Slew mode I use the buttons at the top of the stick to go up or down in elevation, and to tilt the view up or down. It's the tilt function that I can't seem to get working again. When you press the button to tilt up or the other one to tilt your view down it does it in a smooth manner and you need to press the opposite button to stop the motion. Anyone know what to assign for that to work? Thanks in advance, Rob

Hello! I bought on Ebay (for a few Euros) this Airbus Seatbelt and No smoking sign. I want to use it as deco with an simple On/Off switch. But I have to wire it the right way and dont want to destroy it on the first trie. I have basic layman experience when it comes to electrics, but I have motivation - if that counts 😁 Look at the following link to take a look at the sign. It has three contacts, marked with 1+ 2- 3+ and it has 5 LEDs where 3 are lighting the seatbelt sign and 2 the no smoking sign And yes, it is still somewhat dirty as it is a used part. https://imgur.com/a/EQ693oo Any help appreciated, Thank you very much!.

Hi all, I'm looking to move beyond the simple HOTAS setup I've been using for many years to control my flying in P3D, and wondered if people could point me in the right direction? I mostly fly Manfred Jahn's C47 VFR, though I'm looking for things that will work with most any aircraft. My primary desire is for a way to control the radios in the plane, as I like to fly VOR to VOR so tuning to each station, and then ideally being able to see the instrument so that I can see when I'm on the radial. Secondary is some sort of switch panel to save me having to look up to the overhead constantly during engine start etc. Now I've seen the Saitek/Logitech panel…

I own two GF-166A’s. I purchased them from GoFlight about 5 years ago and am just now trying to use them as I’ve finally built a simulator in earnest. I’ve got $6k into everything and it all works but the #@##$& GF-166A’s. I have the latest drivers of everything and nothing in Program Files or Program Files (86). I have plugged them into a 2.0 hub as well as direct into 2.0 and 1.0 inputs on the back of my computer. Sometimes they show on the GF configuration, sometimes don’t. Sometimes one will show but the other won’t. I’ve gone through all the standard stuff (device manager, usb power management etc etc etc) with no success. They show on the GIT but won’t do a thin…

I am running the trial version of SPAD.neXt 0.9.6.025 (the "latest" version). I am also using Logitech software version 8.0.213.0 for creating profiles used by my X52 Pro H.O.T.A.S. I can load the profile I prefer (and spent many, many hours developing) then start FSX-SE. My joystick works exactly as I have programmed it. I do not have an active Multipanel or Radio Panel, naturally, because I have not yet started SPAD.neXt. FSX-SE functions just as you would expect with no problems. I then start SPAD.neXt to activate the flight panels. Once it starts, the displays on the flight panels are visible and function in their basic mode (I have not yet configured any c…

I am finally in the market for new flight sim hardware and I am having a hard time finding solid reviews on certain well known throttle quadrants. For years I have been stuck with the Saitek yoke and throttle quadrant, I am ready to retire the set and get some serious hardware. I already have Yoko the yoke in my shopping cart so all I am looking for is a throttle quadrant. I want something on the lines of an airliner throttle and not a GA aircraft throttle quadrant. My budget is $1,000. I would prefer a full metal build with excellent quality and performance in terms of no deadzones etc.

Every few months my PFC throttle unit turns me into Stressed Eric. This Xmas break was no exception - great timing as usual. I planned a flight yesterday, set it up, pushed back, and the throttle unit was unresponsive There have been a few Windows updates recently and since these updates my throttle unit is no longer being recognised by Windows. It doesn't appear in the USB Game Controllers list - although it does appear in the Hardware Devices list with a yellow triangle (I think error Code 10?) The warning message just said device unresponsive. It also doesn't appear in the PFC GUI utility (but I guess that makes sense if windows doesn't pick it up) So I …

Last week I ordered a MCP and an EFIS from GoFlight. There are rumors running around GoFlight is shutting it's doors. The phone numbers have been removed from the website and Tony is not returning my emails. Anyone hear anything? Thanks! Bob

  12. Started by Radial9,

I’m heading down the proverbial rabbit hole. Today I took delivery of a GoFlight MCP Pro and an EFIS unit. These will sit alongside my existing (2) 166’s, GF-46, GF-T8-2, and (2) GF-P8’s. I’m upgrading to a new premium Jetline Systems rig over the next month or two. I have the chance now to add or delete options. I will most likely purchase a new Yoko yoke with it, once they are released. I will install and configure a Warthog HOTAS and throttle I already have . I desire the ability to sit down and fly either a WWII taildragger fighter or a Boeing 777, as the mood strikes me. I’m in the process now of rearranging my physical flight deck to accommodate all this h…

I already own a T.Flight HOTAS-X and CH USB Yoke I use for both GA and regional airliners in P3D. I'm looking to pick up some rudder pedals second hand (I'm on a budget)! I may also want to use them for some occasional driving sims. Oh also I sit on a swivel chair on a wood laminate floor, is that going to present an issue? I wondered if anyone could recommend me some and comment on both usability and reliability, I'm aware of the following and would appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has experience of them: CH Pro pedals - some people apparently find these too close together? They come with a rudder lockout so I could use them in driving games, which would …

Hi Guys, Just curious as to whether any of you have had some experience, using a Hall effect potentiometer. I have a home made setup for nose wheel steering, using a normal potentiometer, operating via a Leo Bodnar card and FSUIPC. It seems to loose calibration fairly quickly, which makes steering a bit of a challenge. Im led to believe that a Hall effect pot is very stable, and would like to go down that route if possible. Any comments would be helpful. Cheers

Hi I have been using my old logitech racing pedals as rudder and because the have DB9 plug I had to remove the PCB board from steering to be able to use it with out having the wheel out, but today I found adaptor http://www.leobodnar.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=187 Now I know I can achieve the same thing using Arduino Leonardo board and DB9 female plug, question is would I be able to also have additional buttons/ switches running of the same board? If I'm not mistaken I should be able Link to board in UK https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Leonardo-R3-Pro-Micro-ATmega32U4-Board-Arduino-Compatible-IDE-…

  17. I have the latest FSUIPC and am having some serious difficulty learning it. I’m not a programmer and some of the menus and concepts are very complicated to me. I asked Mr. Dowson but that didn’t end well, don’t want to explain. I really need to know about the difference between aircraft settings and so-called profiles. First, I have these controllers; TQ6 throttle quadrant from Virtual Fly Yoko Yoke from Virtual Fly RUDDO pedals Thrustmaster HOTAS stick only Saitek TPM I plugged in my new yoke today and P3D 4.4 assigned the axes to it. So I removed them and when I went to FSUIPC it saw it when I went to the axis tab but I cou…

  18. Hi, I am new to this and searched over internet for some information. I got Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System with a broken circuit board and want to fix this. I found out that a Bodner bu0386x would be good for this, but is it possible to also connect the throttle quadrant to the same card without loosing functionallity as reverse throttle and so? Anyone know where to find some information of how to connect yoke and tq to the card? I know that the display on the yoke wont work, but i wont use that anyway. Regards Mattias

What on earth is going on with new kit and RGB lighting? Had to replace a LOT of PC kit recently. Mostly due to what I now understand was a massive power surge after a power cut. Now my stupidly expensive Asus keyboard has been 'EATEN' by one of the dogs for gods sake! So.... I go online to look for a new mechanical replacement, only to find they're all lit up like christmas trees! Are the children gamers currently driving the market, or has the world gone RGB mad? If anyone has any recommendations for a quality mechanical keyboard (with the least possible amount of RGB), then please fire away? Ta!

Hi Does anyone know where the CPFlight USB driver for the MCP pro is located nowadays? I tried looking on their website as per their documentation but can't find it anywhere... it seems really odd they say specifically to download a usbdriver.zip from their website and yet it is no where to be seen.... "Download the file “usbdriver.zip” at our website www.cpflight.com in the MCP737PRO product section. Files are in a compressed archive .zip; unzip the files in a temporarily folder.Connect the the DC power adapter and USB cable to the MCP." I can't find this usbdriver.zip and every time I connect the MCP windows asks for this driver. Seems strange that it is …

  23. I'm a little surprised there doesn't appear to be any discussion on Thrustmaster's new TPR Rudder Pedal system. I came across them in the latest PC Pilot magazine given away to some at the flight sim show at RAF Cosford last weekend. They're made out of steel and weigh 15lbs. They also have Hall-effect sensors rather than pots and the two reviews I've seen so far are very positive about them. Their most serious competitor would be MFG Crosswind but those operate on a slightly different principle. I'm pretty sure they'll be a big upgrade on my CH pedals I've had for over 10 years! The price is interesting. I have seen them as low as £412. Serious dosh but a long-…

  24. Got a Saitek X45. Love the thing, and there's nothing I'd want to replace it with for less than $500. The throttle developed a big dead spot right in the middle of travel. Disassembled it and blew it out with compressed air. That made it much better - the dead spot worked, but jittered a lot. So I took it apart again and went after the sensor with contact cleaner. Now, if you bring it slowly down from full throttle, it's completely smooth. But if you bring it slowly up from idle, there's a big dead spot from about 25% travel to 75% travel. After that it works fine. If, for instance, I set the throttle in the middle, the sim thinks I'm at idle. If I pull the throttle …

Hi, I am now using the Thrustmaster HOTAS stick, TQ6 quad, and RUDDO pedals. But I just bought a Yoko yoke. The stick, pedals, and throttle quad I use are all set up in FSUIPC (I admit I'm not too good with FSUIPC). When I get the yoke next week I plan on unplugging the HOTAS stick and use the yoke. My question is will I have to create all new profiles in FSUPIC for all my planes? Or can FSUIPC be modified and if so how exactly? I really have no idea what to do so any advice will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
