  1. I assembled this system 4.3y ago and have a ton of hours on it. [email protected]/2400mHz 32G DDR3/GTX Titan at stock speed. Never had any issues with this build. Core temps are always under 60C at peak load. I was flying a couple of days ago when all of a sudden the screen just went blank. No BSOD, just blackness. I turned off the power supply and let it sit for a 10 min, turned it back on and then hit the PC's start button and the case fans started for maybe 5 seconds, then off it went again. So I had a look inside and noticed while the Titan was seated, the right hand side where the little plastic retention tab helps lock it down was not in the locked down posit…

Running P3D v4 under load and getting a temperature between 66-78f (never to 80) on my i7 4770k oc'd to 4.4 using the Corsair H110 cooler. This is with the fans set to 'Quiet' through Corsair Link. Question, is this an acceptable temperature? If I use 'Performance' through Corsair Link the temperatures are in the low to upper 60's but this makes the fans very loud. I know these numbers are acceptable but would like your thoughts on the former numbers using 'Quiet' mode. Thanks!

  6. Hello all, I've been away from FSX for almost two years, I'm planning to buy/assemble a new system, for that system I'm going to use Samsung CF791 monitor, it's 3440x1440 My questions are: 1- CPU: planning to buy i7-7700, I know FSX is a CPU dependent, and therefore higher speed is better than more multi-core, is it going to outperform the 7800x and AMD 1800? what I like about the new AMD is they are much lower in heat generation. 2- GPU: Since the FSX is CPU dependent, do I need to go higher than 1060? 7. I recently got an issue with the HDD my FSX is stored on (saving it is crucial, of course ;) ), a Seagate barracuda 500GB. Whenever it is connected to the PC, the machine gets stuck at the BIOS boot screen. When I disconnect it from the motherboard, the PC boots normally. Also the HDD sounds as usual. I used an adapter device that allows mounting internal HDDs as USB drives and as soon as I do that when my Windows is already booted up, the HDD is recognized and fully accessible, but, of course, at a reduced speed. With the USB connectors of the HDD adapter plugged in while powering up the PC, the problem is exactly the same and the boot process gets stuck. Does …

Hi I need some advice about case cooling,I have a cooler master case it came with 80mm fan in the front I put a 120mm fan at the rear I have two spaces on top of the case for two additional fans one would be just above and in front of the CPU cooler fan and the other just behind and above the cooler fins but don't know if they should be used to bring cool air in or to exhaust the warm air, also I am using the two chassis fan connectors on the mb so is there a way to add more connectors so the other fans can also be controlled by the motherboard, anyone provide a link as to how to set up the case fans thank you, . I am looking for some advice on what components would be best for me as I am looking to upgrade my 5 year old system in order to run P3Dv4 with high settings. First of all I have been running P3D version 3 in what I would consider Medium-High Settings with lots of AI and gotten pretty good results other than in high density areas like cities and large payware airports. I also was running across alot of OOMs at times so I'm anxious to get moving with Version 4. I have not even installed version 4 yet and I have not flown in months because we just moved so now I am looking at going ahead and doing a hardware update now because it seems like a good time. My existing …

I just took delivery of a new "sim computer" three days ago and have just this afternoon managed to make some time to start setting it up. Gah! What a massive PITA this is going to be, but I sincerely hope the end result will be worth the bother. My main "development computer" suffered a complete failure of the C drive, and I lost several years worth of archived emails. While this isn't the end of the world, a lot of the information I needed (key, passwords, etc.) to reinstall stuff is now gone. My plan is to get the new "sim rig" running with at least FSX:SE and P3Dv4 running, then rework the "old sim" to be my new development machine. I got Max2012 installed o…

  12. Hi, I want to buy a new PC, because mine is quite old... I want to be able to play FSX: Steam Edition smoothly with nice graphics with following Add-Ons: A2A Cessna 182, Flight1 GTN 750 and high scenery settings and also if the sky is very cloudy. The Graphics Card should support a minimum of 3 Screens (Because I also need it for work). Is there anything good for around 1000€? I found the Chillblast Fusion Stratus 2 designed by Matt Davies: https://chillblast.com/chillblast-fusion-stratus-2-flight-sim-pc-designed-by-matt-davies.html Or this one: http://www.mifcom.de/flightmaster-foxtrot-id4935 However, are 8GB of RAM enough? Do you know other products? …

    1. It has been apparent since several years intel has not shown any interest in boosting single core performance. Can AMD be expected to cover this area or bets are still on Intel if ever it happens? 2. Will we have to wait for above to happen for a remarkable increase in performance or LM is going to multithread the rendering before that? 3. None of above will happen and things will continue at a crawling pace as they have for past few years?

Recently the cpu fan died on my ten year old desktop. My desktop would only stay on for ten minutes before automatically being shut off when the cpu reached its heat limit. What to do? I went to the dollar store and bought a cheap desk fan. I opened the side of my desktop and pointed the desk fan at the cpu. My ten dollar solution worked, the desk fan keeps the cpu cool and I can do everything, including fsx, without the cpu overheating. It looks weird but the solution works. I can keep the computer on all day long now. Eventually I'll replace my computer but for now it does everything I need. John

My 4.4y/o ASUS P9X79 WS mobo died a month ago and as it was out of warranty I decided to see if ASUS could fix it anyway. For $140 they sent me what I assume is a refurbished P9X79 WS (different serial #). I put everything back together today voila, all's exactly as it was! Getting the same overclock now that I was previously, I of course was able to pick up right where I left off and avoid the big reinstall of P3D and all the addons, and a 2nd SSD full of other w/ other stuff. Whoohoo! It was nice to be certain it was the mobo and not my trusty 3930K which now once again humming along at 4.4Ghz as it had for all of those hours. I have A LOT of hours on this system …

  22. Hi Everyone, I received a reply from Logitech [Saitek] today saying 2.0 hub needs to deliver 4 amps to be able to power more than 4 devices. I bought Belkin 7-port and can not find anywhere on the box or google search what the output is. Have also read that Saitek stuff operates with 2.0 and not 3.0 hubs? Am a bit lost here. I don't know much about hubs or what to get to power 13 devices. Have 4 Belkins and cannot get all saitek FIPs to run. Suggestions appreciated!!!

Hi everyone, Was unsure whether to put this thread here or under Hardware - it's specifically a question about P3D so I guess here will do! With the imminent launch of Intel's new X299 platform, I'm contemplating building an overkill rig for P3D v4 that will see me into the future with something that should stand the test of time. I'd very much appreciate opinions on whether this is likely to have much of an impact on P3D v4, whether my selections appear to be compatible and what I might do away with, in the interests of saving money, if it will have little effect. 25. Hey guys this question is for a friend of mine. I will be assisting in this SSD swap and I want to make sure we know exactly what we are doing before the swap and avoid any data loss or system down time. The Setup: Cloning his Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500gb to an Intel PCI-E SSD. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820167359 The drive only has Windows 10 and a fully setup P3D installation with all the addons you can list. What would be the best way to approach this? Clone Image utility? Acronis image backup? Any info would be great guys. @Rob Ainscough
