I could really use some help and advice. I recently updated my system to a P4 3.2, and 6800GT 256. Things run great except for a few things. I have flickering clouds sometimes, like they are on fire. Also, my clouds at night do not look right (see screen shot). I have installed all the latest drivers for everything and I have been wrestling around trying to make it work for some time. I can not believe that I upgraded and my cloud flicker sometimes and look like that at night. Any suggestions?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/104320.txt

Hi Fellow Simmers,I have been watching these forums quite frequently over the years and have come to the conclusion that FS9 crashes are mainly due to bad video card driver installations. Sure, there are crashes due to corrupted FS9 configuration files, memory leaks, or hard drive problems but if you have a CTD, you should immediately suspect your video card drivers even if your system is reporting your drivers are properly installed.I had a CTD the other day, my first in many, many years of flight simming. Whenever I opened the kneeboard and clicked anywhere on the window, the system crashed. Everything else within FS9 worked and I had great frame rates, and great reso…

I currently have 1GB of RAM and am thinking about dumping another 1GB in my computer as I think it will help with the running out of memory errors. Now the problem is I cannot find the same kind of RAM I currently am using. I currently have 2 sticks of 512MB Corsair PC3500-XMS DDR433 CL2 Extreme Memory with heat spreader. I cannot even locate this on the Corsair website. Anyone point me to a site with it? I looked at newegg.com and could not find any there either. Maybe the man with the answers (Greg a.k.a. Soarpics) might know?

I am having a great deal of trouble copying CD Data to my CD's.This has been an intermittent problem off and on for a long time. Some of the time I have been able to copy at will either useing the default WINXPPro provisions, or Nero.At the moment, I have discovered that I can copy with Nero and read the content on another computer, but not on mine which originated the copy. In turn, my computer will not read one written on another either. All of my old CD's that I copied in times past read just fine.I have deleted all third party copying provisions (NERO, BurnAtOnce, and burn4free with the intention of going back to the WINXP default provisions, however I am now having a…

Rather early in the install of my new system, but I need to ask a few questions about the BIOS.Should my HDD setting mosly be on auto, or is one setting important that it should be specific? It's just a 120 IDE Seagate ATA-100 drive. NTFS with WinXP.I left my CPU (Athlon 64 3200+) at 1000 MHz and 16 bit on both HT data streams. Okay? Now my memory page really confuses me. I just have regular Kingston non-ECC PC3200 DDR memory. what's this node interleaving and bank interleaving? Auto, disable, enable??? Burst length 4 beat when Dq? It's set at 8.All those other setting below are on auto. And the AGP is set, but MDA resources? VLink 8X? 3.0 Calibration? DBI output? …

I've recently had to have a new ASUS Mobo fitted to my PC. My existing Graphic Card, a Nvidia GeForce Ti4200, was fitted to the new mobo. Yesterday I noticed that the BIOS AGP Aperture was set at 64Mb; whereas in the old mobo the BIOS setting was 128Mb. My question is, which is the correct setting?Ken

Hello all, there seem to be quite some hardware experts in this corner of AVSim and since I'm buying a new machine solely due to MSFS I thought my questions would be suited better in here than on other hardware websites. :)I most likely might get a ATI X800XT card, that is IF I can find one on the planet! Here in Switzerland they are not available. Although out for several months still no shop can deliver them here, why that is so is beyond me...Is there any good store in the US that shipps overseas and has got some X800XT in stock? I'm tired of waiting...Now another thing I need some advise:What chipset is best for MSFS? I'm not interested in games, but MSFS should run as …

My EPOX EP-K8DA3+ motherboard sound card (Realtek) is pretty good and sounds are also top notch. I have an older Audigy lying around which I could put in to the board. Do you think it would be worth it? Will it free up resources on the MB for other tasks? What advantage if I upgrade to the newer Audigy cards?ThanksShez

Hello All Again...I posted a few days ago asking for opinions on whether to buy a new soundcard or new speakers to solve the "popping in the speakers" problem I experience while flying 3rd party add-ons like the PMDG 737 and the DF 727.However, as the subject of the post shows, the popping has continued. It occurs when I advance full throttle and then back to idle, as well as in the spot view.I have updated the MB BIOS but it didn't help. In the THX control console, and I go to calibrate speakers, and I check the enable noise test, the static noise comes out of each speaker. In the first speaker, it's fine at first and then a rhythmic popping begins, about one per seco…

FS stopped recognizing the prop pitch and mixture axes of my CH yoke for some reason. The Windows calibration thingy is OK...everything works there. The mix and prop will not show up in FSUIPC either. Everything is OK in FS with all other axes (including throttle).Any ideas? Thanks in advance![a href=http://capeairvirtual.250free.com/index.htm]http://capeairvirtual.250free.com/images/cavbanner1.gif[/a]

Hi allCan anyone tell me if the Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939 motherboard supports the AMD Winchester 90nm processors. I quite fancy getting this board together with an Athlon 64 3200 processor.Failing that I am also considering the Asus A8V board but I quite fancy sticking with the nVidia chipsets. Any comments would be welcome.ThanksPhil

FS2004 is OK but gets a bit clonky round the airports with PMDG737 running. What I need is the best Graphic card for my system - ie I can get an ATI Radeon X800 XTPE 256mb, but I suspect I will be saddling a great card with an average system by todays standards - or am I wrong?.Any thoughts would be welcomeStephen

Hello,Realair Sim highly recommends the Nvidia 32.80 driver set for the best performance with their aircraft add-ons when using Nvidia based graphic cards. Does anyone know where I can find this particular driver set on the internet?I've tried searching through the archives at both 3DGuru and at Nvidida's own archive site without any success. None of the popular search engines seem to be able to pull up a downloadable 32.80 driver set either.Just wondering if anyone might know of a place that still has this particular Detonator set. I'm using a GF4 Ti4200 based card and am currently using Forceware 60.72 drivers.Thank you!

Evening all,Currently, my new broadband connection is gradually taking a toll on my hard disk space. A few months ago I had 40GB of space on an 80GB hard drive, now I just have 26GB.I'm looking at a 200GB SATA hard drive and have a few questions. My Motherboard (ASUS A7N8X) has SATA connectors.Where can I find installation advice on the internet? In particular I'm looking at either:a) Using it as a secondary drive (d: dirve):( Having it as a logical extention to my c: drive (can windows XP home do this?)c) Transffering all the contents of the existing Parallel ATA drive to the new drive and then using the SATA as my primary disk, is this easily done?I've performed all m…

need some help with the settings on my new radeon 9600pro. i have an amd3000 and 1 meg of ram plus a 40 gig HD. i have AA set at 2x, anisotropic filtering at 16x and set for high quality. in fs9 i have AA off and am using the default settings for scenery which is about mid to high range. i'm wondering what settings in the video card i might want to lean toward or stay away from. i'm not sure what settings might work well together and which ones might not. i don't have enough add-ons to be concerned with so there's no problem there. i'm wondering about the anisotropic filtering and it being set at 16x. i had it set at 8x and put the scenery sliders in fs9 to mid range and …

I have a Audigy 2 card running windows Xp with the latest drivers and a logitech z680 5.1 speaker setup. For some reason, 90% of the time, FS9.1 refuses to play sounds in the back 2 speakers. This happens with every type of add-on, pmdg 737, rfp 742, etc. I made sure the windows and creative settings were for 5.1 and when I test it correctly says "front left, etc" out of each speaker. Is flight sim just not made for surround sound? Thanks for any help
