Hello fellow simmers!I've always had this problem I'm going to explain now, I was recommended trying to ask some of you guru's here about it.Whenever I fly over an ocean I always get blurry textures at long distance (near the horizon). This problem appears when there is great visibility and high flying. I don't really understand why I get this since many users (www.flightsim.no) with mid-end systems don't have it.Some pictures of described problem are enclosed..Sight distance 130 mileshttp://home.no/justme/wx/1.jpghttp://home.no/justme/wx/2.jpgSight distance 60 mileshttp://home.no/justme/wx/3.jpghttp://home.no/justme/wx/4.jpgSight distance 150 miles with clear weather. Hi, Just looked over some posts about new machines and the debate about the 6800 and the x800, well to late now but I just upgraded to a new machine Intel 3.73 with a 6800gt from a ti4600 and I just know that the latest drivers(76.41) are not the right ones or they are not tuned right as I really see no really different or improvement in FS9. Can anyone help tune this puppy.thanks TONYXPPROINTEL 3.73 1GB MEM6800GTFS9P1 any other info needed just let me know

Would upgrading from XP HomeAMD 2800 (2.2 processor)1 gig 3200 RAMNvidia 6600GTto an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor with everything else the same make much a difference? The only difference, just to make it clear, would be upgrading the MB to the one that accepts the AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor (2.0 processor). Some say that the 64 bit wont make much a difference right now due to OS restrictions.thoughts?Eric

Hi,I was wondering after getting some trouble with stutters appearing when I replay my flights in FS9 if this issue may be explained by a recent installation of a new video card driver and directX 9.c.What surprises me is that these stutters only appear while "instant replay" function is running. As soon as the replay begins, a couple of stutters appear, then disappear and the movie get back as fluid as you may hope. One point I have noticed is that each stutter is accompanied by an access to the hard drive whose light is turned on.Has anybody already experienced this ? What do you suggest ? Your help is welcome.Kind regards,Vincent Mellinger

Hopefully, I will shortly be getting a new pc. This will mean I will need to transfer FS9 from the old one. I have a number of add ons (payware and freeware). I would assume that it would be best to ask the payware companies as to the best way to transfer their products. As to the rest (texture, scenery etc), I was wondering if I could just copy the relevant files to a cd and then transfer them to the new installation of FS9. I don't really fancy reinstalling everything from scratch. Is this the best way or do others have a better technique?Victor

Hi guys,in my quest for a throttle that I could integrate in my new low budget GA home cockpit I stumbled over this one:http://www.flightlink.com/hardware/fixedwing/tpq.htmlI really like it as it is a little easier to integrate in my middle console than the PFC one. It also offers reverse thrust that the PFC only overs with the tubo prop quadrant. The version offered with the link is a version for the flightlink console, but at a price of 40US$ you get an additional box that makes it USB and fully FS2002 compatible. The only thing I do not know is how good the feel and quality is. Any advise from you guys?Alex

  9. Any one have this happen.... I searched many post but didnt catch much. I updated drivers and such the recommeded way Thanks to your posts.... other games work just great like Doom3 THQ but I go to start up FS and the screen pops up and harddrives go to work but then no fs menu. What I have done is to have msfs redetect hardware and such by moving the fs9 config and it detected card correctly on restart and a new config file was produced. So i next went to start-->microsftgames--> FS9 reset and tried that (lucky I kept backup of config) but no dice. It just wont startup.... Hate to do another reinstall... I got a new 9800 Pro card (replacing a 9700 that bit the dust), so I thought I might as well upgrade my drivers at the same time. Bumping up from Catalyst 4.3's. Hi community,I know that this is a very old subject, and prone to much argument, but here goes.....In a few weeks, I will be building a new system, for FS9 ONLY.I can't afford a million dollar computer, but I would like opinions onCPU.In the last few years, I have ran AMD Athlon processors, and have been fairly happy with their performance, despite the running temperatures.I was thinking of perhaps going Intel, given that AMD is going down the 64-bit path. I say this because I'm not too keen on running Windows XP 64 bit, given that it's still a Beta. Please note that I only need views on the CPUs out there.I will be running Windows XP Professional, SP2Many thanks in advanc…

For some strange reason, suddenly, my views are all pixilated. I think that's the term. For example, when I am on the runway, the surface of the runway is made up of various size and color rectangles. This had never been a problem before. I did just download an updated ATI Catalyst driver for my Radeon 9800 Pro card. I also noted that the driver for my Sony monitor was missing and reloaded that (after the pixilation appeared, but that didn't help. I wonder if the new ATI Radeon driver doesn't work so well with my Sony computer, or if the change in view was coincidental with some other thing that messed up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Bruce

Title says it all but I need drivers WITHOUT an included Control Panel or Contol Center (may have to dig into your older files for this one). Also needs to be compatible with Windows XP. ATI site does not have just drivers.Trying to install them with my ATI 9800 Pro card installed as well. Also trying to find the best procedurte to load both cards on one machine if anyone has done this before. Can you believe this... ATI techniocal support will not support any multiple card set-ups - even their own cards.

But my BIOS does not show any real video settings such as Shadow ram, etc. Is this the way Gateway sends these out, so you can't change anything, or is there a way to get to the settings?ThanksRick

I have started some on-line flying with the new SquawkBox 3 and want to plug-in my headset to the front of my case. There are two push-out plastic plugs to receive the jacks but I cannot find the appropriate cables anywhere, even the case manufacturer does not have them. The set-up I am trying to achieve is two stereo cables with a jack at one end and a 3.5mm? stereo plug at the other end which then plug into the audio and mic jacks of the sound card.I have tried everywhere - computer parts, audio parts including Radio Shack and there is nothing around.Short of making them myself (an…
