Hi, was wondering if someone could tell me how to get to the command prompt in Windows XP Home Ed. When I boot up my computer, I press F8 which is standard and it takes me to the menu, but there is no command prompt option. I would like to format my HD and create some partitions, but I have no idea how to in Windows XP, it's so much different from 2000 or 98.Thanks,Jeff

i've noticed lately a big difference in the way most of my addon aircraft fly if i recalibrate my stick before each flight. not sure if you're supposed to do it that often but there sure is a big difference in that all of them seem to fly more smoothly. anyone else do that and notice the difference? william

I must preface this with the fact that I've pretty much searched throughout and applied all the "FR improvement" methods, using some, messing with the settings, the cfg file, etc.. etc..But there is one thing that I haven't been able to resolve. Two observations that it "seems" that FS9 does that I don't know how to change. Again, these are guesses, but this is what I think it going on and if anyone understands this better, please feel free to comment!1) Filling up memory somewhere until FR drops. The reason I say this is that I will have great FRs for about 20 minutes, when things start to get a little jerky, and switching between views causes stuttering. To fix the probl…

Look at this thing! Note the integral multi-function display! This "Flight Control System" has *90* presets http://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...es/icon_eek.gifPerfect for those uber-complex FS9 planes. Apparently the LCD shows you the button-assignments, the time you have been airborne (has a stopwatch) and some other features.http://www.ladydragon.com/z/55x52.gifhttp://www.saitekusa.com/usa/prod/x52.htmI want onehttp://www.nextgenerationrecords.co.uk/boa...s/icon_razz.gif

Hi all, i don't know if this is right about MSFS2004 but is there a way that you can tell how much ram is being used by the sim when it boots up, now not knowing a lot about this, apparently you can up the ram which may help to sort out the stuttering and freezing now and again,i am using a Nvidia Ti4200 card ,with two 512 ram and 2500 which is about a 1.8gig ,it was fine in 2002 and if i knew which Nvidia card to buy for this FS2004 sim i would buy it ,my dilemma is the same i had with 2002 but found the Ti4200 card very good ,any suggestions would be appreciated ,thanks.:-)

Hi guys, what increase in fs9 performance would I get by going from my current machine (P4 2.4 400 FSB, 1 gig RAM, ATI Radeon 9800 pro) to this:http://secure.newegg.com/app/WishR.asp?ID=1471932The list at Newegg might not be complete and I might have picked the wrong memory or something. I just want to know what I could expect in image quality improvement, performance with heavy traffic, using planes like the LDS 767.

  14. Hello, I am looking for a really nice case for about $150.00 or less. I originally wanted a Thermaltake Tsunami but I don't like the USB's on the top of the case. I was looking at a Silverstone TJ03 but the price is rather steep at $272.00. Silverstone's TJ06 looked nice and it was priced right. It has a wind tunnel design but their site says that it is not compatible with boards that have the CPU in the center. I believe my new one will - MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum s939 Nforce3 Ultra. I am not going to do water cooling and I don't want something that looks like the Vegas strip or a alien spacecraft. I just want a good quality, very cold case. All metal would be nice.Any ideas…

I would appreciate an assessment/evaluation of my system and any suggstions that would improve my frame rates generally and in particular with LDS, PMDG, ASky et al in FS9.Currently I have put togetheran ASUS P4S800 m/b with a P4 3e Ghz processor 800 Mhz FSB.I am using memory modules from K-byte (2x512) total 1 mb DDR2700 PC 333 184 pin DIMM.My video card is GeForce FX 5600 at 8x AGP.My frame rates are averaging 5-8 fps. I understand that this is dependent upon the setup. Intuitively, I feel that the memory should be changed. Changed to PC3200 DDR400? Also, I purchases another video card, ATI XP700 Pro. I saw no appreciable change in performance related to fps. Coul…

Hi Guys,I went out and bought a new system last weekend.A new Gateway Athlon 64 3500+ with a 2000 FSB using the Winchester chip. I can't figure it out, I have turned off all the virus apps and just have FS9 running. Does anyone have any ideas as to what I may have overlooked? (I have the same settings for FS9 on both systems). Hi,In the search of a replacement for my old CRT, I am considering an LCD. I have seen LCD with 12ms response time, which seems to be quite good, is that really good? How does that compare with a CRT?The issue I have with these LCD, is that they only have VGA interface, but it seems that LCD with DVI are much more expensive (about 2 times the cost), is it really worth it?Regards,Francois

I noticed that with many of the more complex addons like the DF Bonanza combined with detailed airprots and scenery would cause delays in the sim when switching views etc. For example, if using the external view for a while then switching to the VC, the textures would take a while to load up. Also, bringing up the kneeboard or alt+tabbing out of FS9 would cause a harddrive thrashing frenzy and sometimes even opening the default GPS would take 10 seconds or more.So I took the plounge and replaced my 2x256MB TwinMOS with 2x512MB TwinMOS.-As expected, overall performance is unchanged-Switching views and alt+tabbing is instantaneous now-The new RAM, despite being several year…

I plan to reuse my 6800GT and 1 meg of OCZ PCc3200 Ram.When I went to order tonight, I noticed there are two AMD 4000s. There is a SledgeHammer and a ClawHammer (cores).Anybody have any info how these compare, or work in FS9? Dennis Mitchell

on the Dreamfleet site for the following question.I have a Saitek 45 Joystick that I use on my laptop. When I use the saitek the pitch and roll is very erratic flying the airplane almost as bad as the default aircraft. I know it is not a Cardinal problem because at home on my cirrus yoke and Go Flight pedals the airplane is smooth as silk. What I am hoping is that someone has been able to adjust either the cfg or Joystick settings to make the wonderful Cardinal a little more manageable. I will try here and see if a kind soul can help me out.

Greetings all!For quite some time now I've been running FS9 on a rig with an ASUS P4B533 mobo, Pentium IV 2,4 Mhz, 1 Gig RAM, GeForce 6800 128 Mb, and an "onboard" soundchip on the mobo.Having been informed that onboard soundchips eat up a lot of CPU cycles and bring down the FPS considerably, today I acquired an USB Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 NX external soundcard, which produces a quite impressive sound when the four Merlins of my favorite Lancaster or the four Griffons of my equally favorite Shackleton are growling away happily, but... the bloody thing brings the framerates down MORE than the onboard chip ever did! It's not that the onboard chip is still running "p…
