I've been reading a lot, but have seen very different answers. Can someone answer the following question for me:With similar settings on the same computer, does FS2004 run as fast as FS2002, or does it run slower?I currently run FS2002 on my machine, and am pleased with how it runs - about 30 frames per second. (altough the sliders are set fairly low). I would like to upgrade to FS2004, but I think that I've got the sliders about as low as I'd like them to be. Thanks!

Hi folks, I just got a set of Pro Pedals, they are great, just need some time to get used to them. I still find its centering mechanism to be a little too fast and kind of hard. Is there any hacking tip or tutorial on how to improve the CH Pro Pedals motion/smoothness to feel more like real airplane rudder pedals? Maybe changing a spring or something? I'm not saying to get rid of the centering stuff but just make it smooth and not so hard. Thanks Leo

I was advised to set my aniso (which I have never used before) on the new Radeon 850XT PE to 16x but I am not sure I see what it does in FS. I've seen articles about how it sharpens distant objects and provides more detailed, realistic textures; but I already get incredible sharpness with FSAA and very hi resolution on my LCD.Should I be able to see curves and shapes of distant mountains and valleys, and ripples in rock faces, clearer distant fields and prairies, etc.? What does aniso do for FS ?Appreciate any posts, thanks.JS

I've got a marginal machine for gaming, but I've been pleased with FS2002 with the sliders set lower. (Celeron 2.4mhz; 512k ram; Intel built-in graphics)Two questions:1) Is it true that I won't see a decrease in performance with FS2004 assuming similar settings?2) Can anyone recommend a graphics card? I am NOT a hardcore gamer, and would only use it for FS. I would like something that will improve performance, but don't want to spend much money. I was hoping to spend around $75, although that may be unrealistic. I just don't spend enough time playing games to justify spending much more - especially when new computers can be had for $500! Is it worth it at that price…

<<<>>> This is a repost as I just now fouind this specific hardware forum. Sorry for the duplicate post. Just wanted this moved to a more fitting spot . . . .Hello all. Well, a dark day in simulation for me as my ATI Radeon 9700 Pro seems to have gone to the blitz of graphics graveyard. About a week ago funny lines and waves started appearing on my monitor and it gets worse daily Sooooo . . . . . . I started looking at graphics cards and . . . . My main purpose is Flight Simulator. I am looking at the higher end GeForce and ATI cards thus far, but I am going to save my pennies and invest in the best I can possibly get for my simulator. I mean -- I am …

My current FS configuration is living in an Athlon 2.1 ghz machine on an Asus A7V133 board with VIA chipset, coupled with a 120gb hard drive partitioned C-D-E.DriveC holds XP OS, DriveD holds FS9 and all other programs freeware and payware relative to FS, and DriveE holds all scenery software.I have recently upgraded to an Intel P4 3.1 ghz on an Asus P4S800 board with SIS chip set. knowing that I cannot simply move the drive from the Athlon to the Intel due to difference in chip set, what steps do I need to take to painlessly and seamlessly retain the integrity of of my current FS configuration? This would include those registry entries necessary for FS9 and all payware…

Noticed this a lot now. My PC clock is off and even the day sometimes. Having to use the Date and Time Properties window to correct this. Shouldn't this be automatic? I always that was the purpose of the battery on the MB?

Hello All.I received the components for my new machine yesterday and will be building this evening. I have a question about drive selection in relation to FS.Specs-MSI K8N NeoPlatinum SLIAthlon 64 35001gb Corsair Ram1 Western Digital 36GB Raptor 10,000rpm1 80GB SATA Drive. My question is the following, in what manner should I use my drives to best take advantage of the Raptor disk in FS.My thought was to install Windows XP and FS on the Raptor drive and everything else on the 80 gig, 7200rpm disk. I'm sure there are varying opinions but I would like to hear about different experiences.Thanks-Eddie D

I am sure this has been asked many times, however I cannot find any post in the forums. I gave it an honest try. How do I copy the FS9 keyboard shortcuts and joystick button assignments from one computer to another?

How do you fly a Holding Pattern when requested by ATC? On my PSS A321 a holding Pattern is built into the FMC; however my Fokker 70 does not have that feature. If I start 'wandering' about the sky at the Mayfield VOR someone is going to get very upset :). I just wondered if the Holding Pattern has a set routine written down somewhere, or if you are meant to go to a quiet place and practice for a month or two?Now that SB3 is out I'm thinking about going Online again; I remember back along ATC requested my to fly a HP, as I had no idea how to do it - I just hit the 'P' key and waited!!! - my Controller was quite upset (rightly so) and I haven't flown Online since. …

"Shall I upgrade? Shall I keep what I've got? I know what I'll do, I'll get a new system!"So went my mind last Friday. Spent Saturday convincing my wife that it would be a good investment :-) and spent Sunday and this morning checking out sytems, specs and retailers. I've now come to the following choiceAMD Athlon 64 3500+ (939PIN) 200GB Serial ATA (150MB/s) Ultra Fast Hard Drive 1024MB PC3200 DDR (400MHz)Either ATI X700 Pro or Nvidia 6600GTI was just wondering if my choice of graphics card may cause a "bottlekneck" for the rest of the system when using FS9. Would I be better, for example, cutting the size of the hard drive and getting a better card or perhaps getting a sl…

Some of my displays are not showing the total content. The first place I noticed this was in the Heading Text of this site. A portion of the text appeared to be shrunk or overlayed by the adjacent text above or below it. Apparently this changes somewhat as I do not see this happening at the moment (Murphy's law). As near as I can tell everything is ok in the AVSIM display presently.Good examples are the Loadedit displays for the Pheonix aircraft. The aircraft display (graphic of the seating) does not appear to be quite deep enough (up and down) to include all of the content. The portion of the display which includes the Max Fuel, Baggage weight etc. at the bottom of this d…

Hello All: Am looking at a purchase I made and am wondering whether I should return it before I open the boxes. A little background:I have been running a Barton 2500+ @2.17 for two years and it has been my best dollar/performance CPU I have ever had. I saw a dual channel kit of 3200 HyperX on sale for $100 (2X512), so I jumped on it and tried to run the barton @ 2.2, but no go! Well, I decided to move up to an A64, after all, it has been two years, but now I hear conflicting stories about the S939 I bought with the Gigabyte K8N. First of all, my dealer suggested this combo for future upgrades, but now I see on Gigabyte's website that the the K8NSN may not run 90nm…
