Whenever I fly using Radar Contact I have the most annoying conflict with my MS Optical Mouse. Whenever anyone is talking via Radar Contact (co-pilot, center, etc.) my mouse goes nuts. I can't control it and it moves all over the place. Once the talking is over I can once again control the mouse. I am using a Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS, Windows XP-Home, and a Windows wheel mouse. My hardware is not in conflict according to the Device Manager.I do show, however, two mice: 1) HID Compliant Mouse, and 2) Microsoft USB Wheel Mouse Optical (Intellipoint)Since I only have one mouse, and it's number 2 above, should I disable number 1? Need some help, please.Thanks.

I have run into a problem changing an assignment on my MS ForceFeedback2 joystick. I want to re-assign button 3 as a "Push-to -Talk" button (FSUIPC assignment)I went through the Options > Assignments and deleted the assignment for button no 3, which is the default for negative trim.I checked that the assignment no longer showed in fs9.cfg.I re-assigned the button in FSUIPC (buttons) and it qorked correctly as a Push-to-Talk button with AVC on a remote laptop...BUT...unfortunately the button also still sets the negative trim.It is almost as if the joystick is hardwired for the default settings.Any suggestions on how to solve this little mystery?(I did re-boot after chan…

I have just one giant HD on my new PC. If I want to back up FS2004 and all my add-ons, should I buy an external HD and use that? Must an external HD have an OS loaded onto it just like the regular HD inside my PC?Appreciate any advice, thanks!Jonathan

This is one heck of a powerful PC for FS9. It is transforming FS9 into the sim it was supposed to be and was vaunted to be by MS almost 2 years ago. At this point, I still have 100% default everything and have not yet applied the official MS patch 9.1. I have a dual LCD monitor (20" and 19") setup and get an average of 45 fps with most sliders set all-right or one notch below extreme for autogen and clouds, and visibility ranges of 100nm and 60nm for clouds. Average frames fall to 35 if all sliders are maxed right. On the ground in default Cessna or 777, spot view yields 55-65 fps just sitting still, viewing west of KSEA 34R and frames fall to roughly half of this when …

I have a problem here: whenever I leave my computer running without "doing" something (e.g., keyboard or mouse input), it freezes after some time (maybe 1 hour, maybe 3 hours, something "long" like that). THis is a problem when leaving the computer to run a long range flight in real time, because I don't want to sit in front of the screen for hours, but come back only for the final phase of the flight. By then, the PC has "freezed".What could it be?- screensaver doing funny things?- the fact that FS 2004 is "in the background", i.e. when I leave the computer the screen has the desktop showing?- interferences from the web?- any procedures kicking off that stall the system?…

Well, I finally installed FS9 on the XPS Gen 4 (3.8 Ghz) and it is superlative. In 1600x1200x32 bit, with FSAA 4x and Aniso of 4x--initial experimental levels for now--and all sliders set max right except for max vis of only 100 nm and clouds of 60nm, I am getting fantastic visuals and good frames on LCD monitors. Ranges are from a low of 22-23 at KSEA on takeoff roll in the default Boeing 744 to a high of 70 in the same plane at 3000-5000'. Average, if you can say there is an average, seems to be around 40-45 range. The thing I am observing is that even with massive cloud and t-storms, and rain, etc., the frames remain strong, up in the 35 to 40 level. I am impresse…

Hi,Soon I will build a new rig and I wonder if it is wise to use the raid controller which comes with the mobo (I have a ASUS A8N SLI DeLuxe Mobo)I'm talking about mirroring, NOT striping.I have a few questions:1 - Does it yield a substantial performance increase for FS2004?2 - Do the disks have to be EXACTLY the same (Brand, Type)3 - When a disk fails, does the Raid-controller takes care of reinstalling a new disk? Thanks for your help,

Is anyone else having the same issue? Ever since the release of Catalyst 5.2 drivers I have been having ridiculous stutter where before I had none. When I look at the frame counter I see that it's very erratic. It jumps from 30fps to 10fps or lower and this is with no clouds. It keeps jumping around erratically and you can clearly see that it's negatively affecting FS2004.Today I noticed that there's a new Catalyst 5.3 so I decided to try that and I still have the same awful results. The problem immediately dissappears if I install Catalyst 5.1 or Omega drivers. What's goin on here? I am using a Radeon 9800 PRO. Thank you.

I have looked in previous posts but not really come up with the information I am looking for, so I hope people won't mind another thread started on this subject. Besides, what I am trying to do is a bit specific, so advice would be welcome, from those who have the patience to wade through my setup description! I have no expereince of running two monitors together before .....With my new PC on order, I am going to end up with the following: Two separate PCs sitting alongside each other, my current, medium-powered one (ATI Radeon 9800 Pro card), for word processing, internet browsing, photo editing etc. etc. ; the other, a higher-end PC (AMD 64 FX55, NVidia 6800GT graphics)…

I purchased a nice little system from Falcon North-west two years ago, and now its pretty much obsolete. So it looks like it's time to buy a new system. I know pretty much next to nothing about PCs, except how to launch FS9. I don't know how to put a system together, and quite frankly, don't want to know. I just want to customize it on screen, and give them my credit card. So I would like to get the next system from Falcon as well, since they have been nothing but most professional. The new system I would like is, I think, pretty much top of the line:ASUS A8N-SLI deluxe moboAthlon 64 FX-55corsair twin-x 2048 mb 3200nvidia 6800GT 256 mbI think I just selected the best of e…

The menu screens seem to be fixed at 640x480. My laptop screen is fixed at 1920x1200. It is set to scale lower resolution screens to fit, but, for some reason, MSFS blocks this behavior. Is there anything I can do to change this behavior so the start up and help and map screens are displayed either scaled to fit the 640x480 in the whole screen, or display the menus at a higher resolution?I am using a Dell D800 PentiumM 1.7 GHz, 1 GB mem with a GeForce 4200 Go chipset with 65 MB memory with 4.28.20.31.10 drivers. Thanks,Thomas Perry

Anyone interested in this could read my post (initially about CPUs, but it 'evolved'!, at:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=6595&mode=fullBoth NVidia and ATI have commented on their SLI programmes (or lack thereof), and in relationship to FS9. I've copied their comments in that post. Hope it's useful to someone.Martin
