I am "bugged" by a slow and persistent memory leak - and I need help to figure it out.My setup is FS9 (with update) running together with FSNav on a 3.Mhz Pentium 4 CPU with 2 repeat 2 Gigabytes of high speed ram.FS9 is installed on a fast RAID (0) drive - plenty of hard drive space left.I am only running FS9 and FSNav - all other apps have been "terminated" before starting the flight sim. Here is what happens: I start my flight (say with the FS default 747) and looking at the Windows Task Manager, the initial "PF Usage" is 580 (so there is almost 1.4 Gigs of ram left). The "CPU Usage" is 54 - 65% or so. After 30 minutes of flying, the Flight Sim begins to slowly "gobble u…

Hey everyone, I have recently picked up the TrackIR 3 and am really pleased with it's preformance. I would like to try a little something different with it. I am using a projector for my outside view and would like to ask if anyone knows how in the VC view I can delete the cockpit out of the view and leave just the senery. I have a second screen running the instrument panel. Thanks for you input.Tom Mihelich

Pilot 27 or anyone else who knows about SATA drives... To make a long story short: Have a Harddisk going on the blink so I thought I would replace it. At the PC swap meet today I came upon a Western Digital 250 Gig SATA For $130.00. Was planning on buying a typical ATA 133 but had heard about thses so I figured it was a pretty good deal without really thinking much about it or knowing much about SATA drives. So I quickly read my ASUS MB manual which does support SATA (has the connections), but then I started reading something about have them in pairs?, striping? bla-bla. A bit disoriented at the moment...It's real late here. I'm blurry eyed. So when I wake up tomorr…

I'm planning to build a new rig a little later this spring. I'm definitely going the AMD 64-bit route, but I haven't found much information on the difference between the AMD FX series and the "plain" A64's. Is there anything that great about the FX chips to justify their considerable additional cost? Also, I'm assuming that Socket 939 is preferred these days since it should have more longevity than Socket 754. True?

Hi all-On the back of my Dell 8300 w/ATI9800 are two adapter ports: one VGA (blue) and one DVI (white). Here's my question before I start switching things around. I have two monitors (both LCDs): one main (for FS9) and a smaller one for FSNav. The smaller one has a VGA port only so I connected it to the VGA port on the back of the box. The larger main monitor has both DVI and VGA connections so I connected the main monitor to the DVI port on the back of the box.On the smaller monitor, designated as secondary, when going into settings, I have a variety of resolutions available. Not so on my DVI (main) monitor. Its fixed resolution is 1280 by 1024. Also, when you go into mo…

Is this something that will blow amd away and make fs run like a dream? :-roll i wonder if i should of held off on my new system for this new processor from intel? :-rollWhats your opinion on this new 64bit?:-wave

I was wondering if anyone had this problem with their 3d shutter glasses, and what their solution was.In MSFS2004, the left eye has the correct motion, but the right eye is frozen. I only have this problem with fs2004, not any other game, ie. Shutter glasses work fine in Ghost Recon.Any help would be appreciated, Thank you

Hey All,I was just uptown and at our local consignment center is a set of gameport CH pedals and Yoke (the grey one) for $35. Is it worth it? Any downsides? Can you use this setup for NASCAR games? Or vice versa they also have a MS forcefeedback steering wheel and pedals for racing (also $35) so I'm wondering if it is possible to use the MS Pedals for rudder control and continue using my joystick. Maybe more utility this way. Thanks for any replies! -Ed-

Although my PC is not at all bad - basic specs below, I am thinking of getting a new PC for FS9 (and FS10, 11 & 12!) with much more cutting edge hardware (with, in essence, 2 x NVidia 6800GTs in SLI and an AMD 64 FX55 CPU). It seems to me though that 1 GB should be more than enough of PC3200 RAM. Does anyone have 2GBs of RAM and actually find any improvement over 1 GB? An extra 1GB is not cheap these days, and I strongly suspect that I would be throwing my money away.Martin :-)

HiI've been scouring the web for something larger than 22 inch. Although some folks at work said they heard of 24 and 26 inch monitors, I cant find em. Someone mentioned another alternative to the CRT would be a projector system. I had always thought that you really could not get the resolution from a projector. Im running at 1600 x 1200 currently and if a projector system is available that could give me this resolution with a large projection size that would be incredible. Of course price certainly would be a determining factor. Any help you guys have would be much appreciated.By the way, I did try an LCD, but with no anti-aliasing I had to pass it up.RegardsBob G

I needed to do a fresh install of Win XP Home edition. Now for some reason, Device Manager is showing my video card (GF 3 Ti 200)as installed in a PCI Slot when it should be AGP. I tried uninstalling it from device manager, uninstalling the drivers (56.56 XP), & physically removing the card after removing the drivers & it still shows as a PCI device.I'm at a loss, any suggestions?ThanksJim

  19. What is so special about this processor? Why is the 3.40 Ghz processor of this type several hundred dollars more than the regular Intel processor of similar size? Would it make a big diff having such a processor compared with a "normal" (i.e., non-extreme) 3.6 or 3.8 Ghz processor for running FS2004?Any advice, info welcome. Thanks!JS

  20. Well, I did it. After months of research and fretting. Yep. I gots me a flat panel LCD primary monitor for FS2004 after SWEARING they were a crock. I admit it, I am impressed!!I got a DELL Ultrasharp 2001 FP (404 square inches of visual real estate) which I use with a DELL Ultrasharp 1800FP (that I've had for almost 2 years to run FSNavgiator, radios, and cockpit panels) using a DELL factory standard Ti4600 card with 56.72 drivers. Both monitors are analog. The image of FS2004 is, to put it simply and frankly, fantastic. The colors and the reflections are stupendous, especially at dawn and dusk. Night colors and lighting look very realistic and exciting. In parti…

When I'm browsing through folders all of a sudden everything will disappear (folder, desktop icons, etc.) and then slowly rebuild. This is Win Explorer crashing isn't it? Is a bad registry to blame? I'm running Win XP Home SP1. I should say I have a lot of desktop folders and aliases I rummage around in, probably habit from my Mac OS.Thanks,Todd
