  1. I have a USB adapter hooked up to my system to facilitate toe brake action with my analog CH products setup. Win XP (Home) So when I go to calibrate my joystick I have two listings, one for the yoke, and one for the USB adapter. The system works very well. The problem is that everytime I shut down the machine I lose the drivers for the adapter (when I go to device manager, the USB adapter is gone) - I then have to go into my device manager, uninstall the HID devices, shut down the machine and then at start up I recieve the new hardware prompt which allows me to reinstall the drivers. This never used to happen - a few weeks ago I had to do a repair install of Win XP an…

  3. I was wondering if anybody has a good grasp of which settings (mainly display) are limited by which component- CPU, video, memory? For example is turning on extended terrain textures a bad idea if you have a slow cpu, but not such a problem if you have a jammin video card?It would be great to get together a list of settings options and what limits them most.THANKS!btw- I think I'm probably limited most by CPU-Athlon 1800 (1533mhz)768mb pc2100Radeon 9600Pro 256mb

My sim PC has recently started shutting itself down when it's working quite hard running FS2004.Basically it just switches off as if some has pulled the plug and then it won't reboot for a couple of minutes or until sometimes I have switched it off at the PSU and back on again.I built it myself and it has an Asus A7n8xe deluxe motherboard,Athlon XP 3200 processor,2 512 meg sticks of Corsair value select DDR ram, Radeon 9600 XT, 80 gig SATA HDD and a 350 watt PSU.The CPU and MB temps are fine. I have the latest Radeon drivers, latest direct x 9c and everything has run well for at least 9 months.I also tried out 3D mark 2005 and it's shut down 2 out of 3 times running that.…

  6. My computer has the habit of going into standby mode, while in FS2004. But it's not the usual standby mode. The monitors click on and off. The problem was present in Windows 98, but now that I have Windows XP, the problem is worse. The only way that I can get around the problem is to run FS2004 in safe mode, but I can't do that all of the time. I have built my new system (see thread "Built My Dream System), but I do have a software problem that is aggrevating. While flying today, all of a sudden FS9 minimizes and the dial up dialogue box pops up! For some reason this happens periodically but I cannot trace down the cause or trigger that calls up the dialer. I have turned off every automatic updater I can find, Windows, AVG, MS Anti-Spyware, Kodak, HP, and a few others. This was a problem on the old system and now it has appeared on the new one. MS AutoScheduler does not show anything scheduled for auto dialing either. When It happens, I check applications and processess but nothing shows up applications as run…

I will have the OS next week so if you have any horror stories about this now OS please share.About drivers i know both nvidia and ati have 64 bit drivers avaliable, but there dont seem to be drivers yet for many other things. Microsoft says that 32 bit applications will run equal if not better on this OS, i dont think i will get better performance with FS9, but it would be cool if i did.OHN

Well, I have come to the point of considering a modest upgrade to my rig because I have found that FS9 in particular is increasingly hurting performance, especially around major airports with lots of AI. However, since I am not particularly interested in any present games and therefore want to keep my rig going for just another one or two years (unless something should break ;) ), I wouldn't want to spend an awful lot of money right now and really don't have the nerve to reformat and reinstall everything at this time. You can see my current specs in my signature. Considering these, I was thinking about adding another 512 megs of RAM to my system, and possibly going for the…

This has been bugging me for a while. Whenever I save a website address in Internet Explorer favorites (for example avsim.com) I get a nice little site logo next to the name in the favorites menu of IExplorer. However, in subsequent browsing or other work these logos suddenly disappear to leave the normal Explorer "e" logo in it's place. I really like the logos and losing them all the time and having to resave the site gets irritating. Does anyone have any insight into how I can permanently keep those logos in the Favorites menu?RegardsShez

Hey I wondering if anyone could help me out with this one. I hear a lot of questions/comments about frame rate and performance but little about how FS9 looks visually, as far as smoothness. When I see screen captures from people most of the pictures looks so smooth and real. Whether the frame rate is good or not the screen shots just look real good. My machine however looks kind of rough and just doesn't look anything like what I see on the web. My frame rates right now are anywhere from 13-22 pretty consistently. I have most features enabled to some degree. Detailed clouds, textures, aircraft details. Now mind you that dynamic traffic is set very low and some of the text…

  18. I know nobody outside MS *knows* what is coming in FS10, but some of you who have watched the evolution of FS over the past 20 years may be able to make a much better guess than I can on whether the next version is likely to take advantage of hyperthreading or SLI.Upgrade time here, so some forecasts from the experts here might help me make a better hardware choice with one eye on the possible future.Thanks.--Bryn

The thread "WOULD IT BE WORTHWHILE TO UPGRADE FROM ATHLON XP 2800+ TO ATHLON 64 3500+" in this forum, covered an upgrading of my CPU and mobo, with lots of help and suggestions in the different messages. An overlaying message though, was that my graphics card (an Albatron GeForce4 ti4200 Turbo 128MB) was throttling my new CPU. Rather than adding to the thread, I have created a sequel about upgrading my graphics card since it has relevance to several current messages on the forum.I had planned on getting a Nvidia 6600GT ($Can 300), I have been a Nvidia fan for years, but some of the messages were suggesting that the improvement would not be that significant over my Ti420…

I currently have a gig of RAM installed. 512 MB per stick. However, one stick is 333 MHz and the other is 400 MHz. Therefore, I need to separate them on the motherboard. I can't recall what it's called when you stick them right next to each other. I believe it's called dual or dynamic and single paging mode? I also can't recall what RPM each stick is.Anyway, would there be any appreciable performance gain by adding another tick of 400 MHz RAM, and stick it right next to the other stick of 400 MHz? I'm trying to figure out the source of my stutters and believe me, I have tried EVERYTHING.The rest of my specs...P4 3.00 GHzD865PERL Mobo1024 MB RAM80 GB 7200 RPM HDGeFo…

I've had the good fortune to acquire a new system featuring a 256MB PCI Express x16 ATI Radeon X850 XT PE video card.QUESTION: I'm trying to find out where to get the latest drivers for this video card. The current version is 6.14.10.6490 that I downloaded from Dell Computer's website. 25. Hello everybody,What would you do if you had the chance :1 Two 3000Ghz based pc's with each a 6800 Gamers Edition graphics card and connected through Wideview.2 A 4000 ghz based pc with two 6800 GT graphics cards ( SLI ) and each graphics card connected to two monitors so 4 in a total. The Wideview setup probably gives more framerates, but does not support AI traffic. The 4000 Ghz setup can show AI traffic over 4 mionitors because they are all connected to 1 pc.The Parhelia was able to drive 3 monitors but the performance was not very good. The 4000 Ghz setup would drive 3 monitors with much better framerates than a Parhelia, but the intyention is to drive 4 monitors.Keep in…
