My setup was lacking a few items. Owning several Goflight modules for my comm/nav radios, DME, ADF AP, Xpndr, Gear, Flaps, Trim and other miscellaneous functions, an extra keyboard that I labled to handle GPS funtions, and a Siatek yoke and two thottle quadrants I had almost acheived no mouse usage during game play. All I needed was control of the switches (i.e. lights, de-icing, fuel pumps, etc.)I needed about 18 - 20 switches which would require about $330 worth of go-flight modules plus a mounting box. Desktop aviator could accomplich the same functions for a few dollars less, but the would not match my other modules. What did I do?While browsing around desktopavia…

I am looking to finally ditching my current system ans possibly getting a new one. My primary use is of course FSX. I have 2 questions. First, if you had an unlimited budget, what kind of system would you put together today to get the absolute most out of FSX? My next question is if not today's hardware then would you wait for some specific future hardware for a truly optimal FSX system or would you just say that it's simply better to wait for FS11? Thank you

Since FSX is a 32bit application it will not address any more memory running under 64 bit Vista ?I seem to recall NickN suggesting an x64 OS for FSX for memory gains?http://www.simviation.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/Ya...=1197380641/0#2Yet according to:http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/5709"Operating systems such as Windows Vista x64 Edition are not automatically faster than their 32-bit counterparts. In some cases, they may even perform slower ... Emulated applications running within the Windows on Windows 64 layer (discussed in more detail later in this article) will not be able to address any more memory than they could on a 32-bit system."

Hi AllHaven't been simming for a while - time restraints - but have decided to get back into it. Unfortunately I asked around for the best system and went out and bought what I was advised but things haven't worked out according to my ideas so I am asking for some advice here.My new system is outlined in my signature with my goal being to have the best simming experience I could get. being a real world recreational pilot I always missed being able to just quickly glance out the side windows in FS when turning from base onto final etc. I tried the TrackIR but couldn't get use to it. I am now trying the Matrox TH2G but I have been bitten by the monitors I that were suggeste…

I am getting ready to do a new PC build. I am very tempted to run Vista 64 Bit rather than Vista 32 Bit. The main reason I am wanting to do this is so I can take advantage of more than 3GB of RAM. Here are my questions:1) What are your experiences running FSX on Vista 64 Bit? Have you run into any incompatibilities of add-on software (aircraft, scenery, mesh, ect...), or hardware such as CH Products Flight Sim Yoke?2) Will I be able to tell the difference of using more than 3GB of RAM in a 64 Bit environment than what I am experiencing using 3GB of RAM in a 32 Bit environment?3) Are there any other major problems I may run into with a 64 Bit system that are external t…

Hello All,I have just upgraded my nVidia card from a 7900GTX to a 9600GT, but sadly for some reason I cannot get the new card to work well!! The problem is that I cannot get any antialiasing at all unless I activate it in the Sim itself and then it is of a very low quality. I think it is a driver problem because when I installed the latest drivers for my 7900GTX card I had exactly the same issue and had to revert to the older 84.21 drivers which seemed to work fine. The driver I have installed for the 9600GT is the 174.74 version. So far I have tweaked every setting in the control panel but nothing will get the antialiasing to work in the sim. I know that it isn't worki…

I've seen tweak guides for people with Nvidia cards however I was wondering if there's a tweak guide for users of ATI cards?Yes I know about http://www.tweakguides.com/ATICAT_1.html but that's just a general overall tweak guide. I was wondering if there's anything specific for FSX? Thank you.

Ray Adams has recently released a beta version of Tray Tools that works with the 38XX series cards. The cards are seen properly by Tray Tools, including clock speeds and proper fan speeds. I can't say whether this beta will enable Crossfire as I've only worked with it on a couple of non-X2 cards.Beta is v1.4.7.1173 (previous release was 1.3.6.1067)http://cid-a50350ea7a969f0c.skydrive.live....ic/attsetup.exeHope this helps,

Looks like Apple may have an iMac now that can offer fairly decent FSX performance using boot camp:The new top model offers:3.06Ghz Core 2 Duo Processor 45nm1066 FSB2GB Memory512MB 8800GS video card24" IPS glossy screenNot sure what a 8800GS video card is, but it should top the older ATI offering. For the same money you could build a much better spec PC but you want a Apple dual boot machine this one may due. What do you think?

Well, in the last several months, I've reinstalled FSX numerous times for varying reasons.-On my old system, I reinstalled several times to switch between RTM and SP2, becuase I was having problems with blurries with SP2.-I also reformatted at least twice for other reasons.-I then upgraded my system, buying a new mobo, case, PSU, CPU etc. I sold most of my old system, but I kept the harddrive, meaning there's no way the buyer will be able to play FSX (the license only allows you to install on one PC at a time AFAIK).-Initially I used integrated graphics with the new system, while trying to find a good deal on a videocard. After buying a Geforce 8800GT I once again reforma…

  20. Hi all,I posted a few days ago about the problem I'm having with my new Nvidia GeForce 7300GT AGP graphics card. This card is not a PCI nor PCI Express. Every time I click with the mouse in flight simulator 9, the screen flickers a couple of times and everything is fine. But it shouldn't do that. I've downloaded the latest drivers and tried another driver and it still does it. I've tried everything I can think of and I'm thinking about taking it back where I bought it and purchase another one. Before downloading a newer driver, this video card would cause flight simulator to hang or lock up. What is it about this video card that causes flight simulator to give problems be…

I just downloaded and installed the latest benchmark from FutureMark (http://www.futuremark.com/). It was released today. This one tests DX10 so it only works with Vista. My benchmark using the Nvidia 174.74 beta drivers is 8516 which is the highest so far for comparible systems (only 7 tested so far). Feel pretty good having the highest but I'm confident it won't last long. In fact, as I write this, it is probably being beaten. Wonder if any other flight simmers have tried out this new benchmark yet. 23. I am trying to decide what monitors to buy to make a 3 monitor set-up. I fly almost all of the time on 2-d panels, and view them on one Viesonic, 22'' (4:3 ratio)CRT monitor. The problem I'm having is, now you can only buy 4:3 ratio monitors 19" or smaller. I would LIKE to build a 3 monitor set with monitors 24" or 26", but the ONLY ones that I can find are ther WIDESCREEN versions (16:9 ratio). What do you see on Flight Sim 2004 when you put a 2-d panal on a WIDE SCREEN Monitor? My question is why is the fps so different between single vs sli? Is it a software issue or a hardware issue? -ThanksMy SpecsQ6600 3.04ghzMsi 750I SLi 2 9600 GT4 gb ramx64 vista with all the updatesLatest Drivers
