Hi All,I just acquired a factory overclocked GTX 275 to replace my old 8800 gtx. Prior to getting the new card I had recently overclocked my Intel e-6850 core duo from stock 3.0 ghz to 3.6 ghz and experienced only one lock up in three days of pretty intensive FSX use. But since installing the new GPU FSX crashes whenever it encounters heavy traffic or extreme scenery. The question is: Is the CPU giving up the ghost or is the new GTX card the culprit?I did a few stress tests on the CPU and outside of FSX it passed.I wonder whether the GTX, which is factory overclocked from 630 core to 670 and 1000 memory to 1200, is causing the lockups. It's hard to tell. Does anyone know …

I have a new computersystem where I use the built in mobo sound chips. On my older system I got an Creative Audigo player soundcard.I havn't bothered to to move it to my new system since I doubt I would here any noticable sound quality difference. Or does the mobo embedded sound have to be worse than a separate soundcard?

Dear All,Just wanted some factual advice... Going to build an I7 D0 and overclock to 4ghz+ and wanted to know what you guys out there have found to work best from a GPU perspective - seem's to be differing opinions... Appreciate FSX is CPU bound but if I'm overclocking it to the max does the GPU need to be any better than an 8800gts which seems to be the defacto max required generaly for FSX.. Happy to here advice on this....thanks!

Hi,I am running FSX on Core Duo E6850@3ghz, 4gig corsair ram, Gigabyte DS3 mobo, 768mb 8800GTX with a Dell 24' widescreen.I now want to add another 2 monitors either side for a full cockpit view also using my current TrackIR connected via WideView.Would I need to build another 2 complete systems and if so would they need to be same or similar specs to what I already have or could I take advantage of the low prices on some of the older cpus etcAlso would all 3 monitors need to be the same or could I add 2 17' monitors for the side views in addition to my 24' widescreen?ThanksGraham

I always wondered:To you guys who always upgrade your components to the latest and greatest, do you ever get to fly FSX? It seems people just upgrade and spend the majority of their time tinkering and tweaking until they find the need to upgrade again, and so the cycle continues. It appears expensive and time-consuming lol.My system is showing its age and I do tinker on occasion but the majority of my fs time is spent flying the aircraft. What do you really do? :(

I would really appreciate some advice regarding my computer system and FSX. I have been surfing the internet from my recliner for years. Now that my old laptop has died, I've been trying to find a new one that will let me enjoy FSX and addons -- UTX, GEX, FSGlobal, plus planes and adventure packs -- at generally high settings.I just bought a Gateway P-7805u from Best Buy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9172511&type=product&id=1218043606827 It's gotten rave reviews from both users and sites like CNET as a truly great gaming system for the price. $1100 bought me an Intel Core 2 Duo P8500 @ 2.26 GHz, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, Nvidia 9800M GTS with 1 GB DDR3, 320 …

  9. I just got my Areca 1210 raid coontroller card installed and my new hard drives. My aim is to achive the following:2 x 300 GB raptors, 1 x 150 GB raptor and 1 x 1TB WD Caviar drive connected to the controller card.My operating system on new 60GB SSD, connected to SATA port on the motherboard.I do not plan at this stage to set up a RAID array, just use the controller card to run the 4 hard drives, to minimise load on the OS and speed up my texture loading. So, i have not used or been into the Bios set up utility for the controller card. All the instructions are about setting up RAID arrays. Can I just plug the hard drives into the controller card and they will be detected…

  10. I'm looking at a system that can have either one GTX295 card, or TWO (2) in SLI format. The CPU is an non-overclocked i7-975Would FSX ***BENEFIT*** from an SLI dual-card setup, or would it run better under one really fast card? For memory it has 6 GB at 1066 MHz, or I can go with 12 GB's of same speed, if FSX can truly benefit from having 12 GB's on tap.For now, it would be VISTA Ultimate 64 bit, with an option to upgrade for free to Window 7, Ultimate. Also, would having either a Velociraptor 300 GB (10,000 rpm) truly be of a benefit in keeping the system fed (smooth scroll of scenery) or perhaps two of them in RAID PERFORMANCE MODE,or....would I just as well have one or …

I was going to just get another XPS but after visisting the Dell sight it looks as if these are being replaced by the Alienware line. After looking at all the configurations many times I have one I'm pretty sure is the best as far as running FSX but I sure would appreciate some input on a couple of the choices. My main two concerns are the processor and the graphics (duh) . I thought you guys would like that I spelled computer wrong. Here's another knob with a report. So anyways, it's a Canada thing, I upgraded to an INTEL duo core E 8400. With that came a new motherboard and 3 gigs of ram. It is actually 4 gigs but I knew someone would chime in that XP only recognizes 3 gigs. Anyways, it's a Canada thing again, there are two major things that I see in the upgrade from my AMD 3400 besides others. One thing is that when I slew, the computer can keep up with the display. My old machine used to have to process data for 2 minutes before I could fly from the new slewed position. Also with the Dreamfleet Baron 58 and a spot view in one mo…

Hi everyone! Some of you may have seen my post regarding building the Ultimate FSX Gaming PC based on the AMD 'Dragon Platform' utlitizing an AMD 790FX chipset base MoBo and Radeon HD 4890 video card. I have already ordered all the parts except the Mobo has been put on backorder. This has given me the chance to check out more MoBos and I found a brand new one from ASUS that looks great called the Crosshair III Formula. The one I have on back order is the MSI 790FX-GD70.Both boards are great and the MSI actually has more I/O ports, 4 PCIe x16 slots, 2 LANs, OC dial, supports up to 2166 speed RAM, and on board sound (Realtek). However, the ASUS board has a separate Sup…
