Hi all. I'm just urging all members that in recent events on the other flight sim site - I think we all know what the other one compared to here - there is a member who is arguing against Tileproxy. If you are a supporter of Tileproxy - we need to drive the ambitions of this individual DOWN against having it removed for download from all sources. He's even posted in his own forums to try to have this forum removed, and also having the program removed from other download sites.I have never felt stronger about a program than this one. This one enables one thing that many of us who can not fly for real experience - the true to life flying of day to day pilots. It's free, …

I have a quad four processor with a high speed internet connection. During flight the tiles load anywhere from 0-68. I know this is not fast enough and have tried several different things to bring the tile loading up. When I start the flight the scenery around the aircraft is sharp. Within a couple of minutes the scenery is blurry. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to increase the loading time?

So I tried TP again, this time with a Quad core CPU, but performance is still abyssmal. I'm starting to think it's my 2Mb Internet connection that just doesn't cut it. However if I view the map services' homepages in my browser, the tiles load quickly enough so that doesn't quite make sense either. But I don't know what else might be the problem - I keep throwing new hardware at the thing but it never performs well. Maybe my ISP has some sort of limitation on the maximum number of concurrent connections or something so that when FSX tries to load thousands of tiles it just sais NO! and cuts me off?So far I got the best tile loading speed out of a single core 3500+ CPU and…

A fresh article on another simming site introducing TileProxy and featuring some nice screenshotshttp://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/feature/flap25.htmThis is probably the coolest TP screen shots ever:http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=187291Here are some great Alps screenies made by soaring fans:http://www.flugsimulation.ch/forum/showthread.php?t=63672I found all of these by googling for tileproxy and using a date restricted search.Christian

My terrain data loading bar freezes at 36% every time. I replaced the ini file with one from Ed Truthan but it still freezes. I only get about 3 diamonds filled on the ini screen. Any ideas on where I should be looking would be appreciated. I have a 6 Megabit AT%T internet connection.I have also replaced the fsx.cfg file and it still froze. I have disabled every Symantec antivirus service i can see in Services. Thanks again

Looks like I might be going on a cruise to NZ early next year. Amongst other places, the cruiseship goes to Dunedin - so I thought I would check it out in TP. The entry into Otago Harbour looks like it will need a Harbour Pilot - for a 77,000 tonne vesselhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/192099.jpgBarry

I have been a supporter of Tile Proxy since very recently. It's too bad the only thing it does not have is night lighting for the scenery. The shots you posted recently were by me with the B-2 Spirit. I've been an advocate now of this wonderful program you developed and give you a virtual hand shake sir! These you all might be interested in:http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=187374http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=187374http://forums.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?t=182706You should be commended for such an excellent program you wrote. After the day I had yesterday, seeing you post my shots and article just made it a whole lot better!…

Here is a screenshot of a place very close to where I live - the southern tip of Moreton Island, just off Brisbane, Queensland. Moreton Island is a silicon sand island - with high, blindingly bright, pure white sandhills. The sand is so fine that it "squeeks" when you walk on it. Here you can see the white sand in the shallow water surrounding the island - at least on the bay side of the island.TP as good as it gets, for me. Without TP, the water here shows as a bright neon blue as far as the eye can see - yuk, very unrealistic. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/192484.jpg

I am about to throw in the towel. I have uninstalled and reinstalled TP and it is freezing on Loading Terrain data at around 33%.I look at the ini file and it says done. I have tried different services and it freezes at the same spot. Any ideas on what I need to check would be appreciated. All of my antivirus services are stopped as is my firewall. Thanks

I notice lately that I am getting 404 error messages when using G*** Service 2. Strangely enough, it doesn't appear to be spoiling my experience of TP - just I can see the error messages in the TP box.I know what 404 messages indicate - basically, a bad address - so any ideas??EDIT - I have just noticed that the map version of G*** in the area that I am currently flying is 31 - I have been using 30 in my INI file. Could this be the problem? Thanks Barry

Much of the photo-scenery seems tohave overly strong green coloring.Even rivers show as green. This seems to be a common trait on all of the sites. Since TileProxy has a "color hack" could a variation of that be used to provide degrees of reduced green?I have just begun to use TP after over a year of being away from it. It now "works out of the box". I have spent a lot of time with various amounts of photo-scenery and have become addicted to it. TP really helps that addiction. OK, I took the plunge and installed TileProxy several hours ago in my FSX installation. Got the latest version and followed all the instructions from the "TileProxy Quick Guide", and initially everything worked fine. Then tried the 30cm settings, and all heck broke loose. Absolutely nothing worked as far as tile loading, etc, and resetting the .ini back to 1.1m didn't solve the problem. Only option I saw was to uninstall TileProxy to start over again. I followed the uninstall instructions, and it supposedly uninstalled. But now...See this picture:It's off the USA East Coast just east of KJFK. I also get the same thing off the West Coast just west of KLAX. I've gon…

Since TP can now rise beyond 1.1M/pixel is there any source for photo-scenery at a higher resolution that works with TP? I have used 30cm stuff with the normal "static" scenery/textures and it is quite nice. Obviously the amount of data rises by about a factor of four as you step up in quality. That has little impact with static textures but dynamic acquisition would be a challenge.Regards,Dick BoleyA PC, an LCD, speakers, CH yoke

I have downloaded and installed TileProxy, used the recommended ini file, and changed the map service and it still won't start. I reinstalled FSX and then installed SP1 and Acceleration. It says:"The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application." What is going wrong? I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times. I really want to use it!Thanks,Evan

I seem to have some problems using Service Example 1 where there's only B/W coverage. Textures look perfrectly fine where color photos are available. This is above 21W airport.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/188852.jpg

I have always thought that TP looked "worst" in flat urban area. The buildings don't look real good of course- whereas I believe that TP is at its best in mountaneous areas. And I usually fly with TP during daylight hours. But I have discovered that TP at Dawn is quite good in urban areas - it gives quite a good feel and any unclearness of the urban textures is less noticeable. Unfortunately, there are no lights apart from those used in speciifc sceneries ( ie no autogen lighting) - I just pretend that it is dawn and the street lighting has just gone out :-) Try it - you might like it(Near Long Beach, CA - using Service 3, 1 M res) http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/191855…

Hello all,I have a question I use fs9 with TP7 it's wonderful but i would I'm slightly confused as to what to change to stop tp using the default fs9 water textures so soon. When i fly over even small inland lakes TP uses the fs9 water texture rather than the downloaded image and sometimes this can make lakes look terrible as they will have half phtoreal and hals Fs9 textures can I adjust the threshold so TP doesnt change water so close. I know there is a setting in the ini but I can't figure what i need to change.DomEDIT: I turned off water mask and will see if thats the way, i don't use float planes.

HiFirst, i want to thank Ed for his great tutorial. With it, i got TP running in less than 10 minutes. Second, i have a couple questions:After installation, i have 3 new folders:1- C:Tileproxy (with the tileproxy photoreal world and 1.5GB of files inside it after 3 test flights)2- C:TPcache (empty folder)3- C:Program FilesMicrosoft Gamescache.service3 (with 670MB of files in it, after the 3 flights)The questions are:1- Why is the TPcache folder always empty? What's the use for it?2- If i clear the cache (with the Manage Service Caches browser)which folder will i be cleaning, number 1, number 3, or both?3- Why do i have one folder with 1.5GB and the other with 670MB? Shoul…

I'm guessing there may be no answer for this but maybe someone else has had this issue. If I want to use g***le as my data source sooner or later I get the captcha form pop up,fine no problem, i type in the code then for some reason FS9 has just all locked up! I can't get back to it at all. Ok so the answer is not to use that service which is what I try not to do but there are a couple of areas where this is the only service with good coverage. Has anyone else had the problem of the captcha form crashing fs9 if yes did you solve it and how?ThanksDomp.s I'm using TP 7 (march 21 version) Firefox as my default web browser i have a AMD 64 2.25ghz processor2gb Ram1mb adsl512d…

It's great to hover around and wait for the 'pop' as the scenery becomes more vivid. See attached. This is I5 leaving Seattle and going into the Cascades. Unfortunately the Cascades aren't mapped...3 pops :)
