I have today installed TP into my new, fresh FSx installation. Over the past week, I have been "tuning" FSx and have read a lot about so-called"tweaks" for FSx. It appears that most of these were in fact developed before SP1 was issued and it seems that some are no longer of any use. In fact they may even be detrimental. It also seems that your success or otherwise in running FSx is dependent on a number of things - which some of these tweaks interract with in a negative way . 2 of these "things" relate whether you have a dual core or single core machine - and also to what amount of vid RAM you have.I note that installation of TP makes some changes to the FSx.cfg file1. T…

Well after almost a full week and no less than 14 hours of messing with TileProxy, I'm about ready to give up.Earlier I got the LOD and Level settings just fine but the program wasn't loading certain tiles regardless of how often I flew over or around the area. I was seeing several messages in the DOS monitor pointing to the same PhotoWorld folder so I figured I would do an uninstall/reinstall. BIG MISTAKE.I get the following error message on start up. Yes I searched and found the dseo13b.exe fix. Ran it. Still no luck. Before I give up I figured I would throw myself on the mercy of the court and see if anyone has a suggestion. All I want to do is fly a Cessna …

Hello,I know this is a little off topic but I thought a Tile Proxy user may have an answer to my question. I am looking for the most up to date imagery for Mexico - particularly the Yucatan Peninsula and Isla Mujeres. Google Earth's image is pretty current but it is very bright (reflection from the sun?) I can't see any detail in the urban areas. Yahoo and Bing are not very current in that area and they don't have the building I am looking for. Are there any other(free)options out there that I can look at? I'm not looking to use it in FSX, I just want the image. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

Hi folks.I'm a new user and very appreciative of all the input and advice that people offer here. It's such a steep learning curve but I enjoy it. I've been flying over my neighborhood in FSX in my C172. I often fly over it in my real C172 so I'm well familiar with what it should look like. Both Bing and Yahoo cover it very well (Calgary, AB).but I'm missing many tiles when I look out the window at various altitudes (ie 5000 feet AGL and 1500 feet AGL)I monitor TP progress (ovals) in a second monitor and I'm noticing two things.1. My tile access per second rates fluctuate wildly. From 400 to 0 in seconds. I fly circles and back and forth patterns over the neighborhoo…

Hi, I've been using tileproxy for a while now. I've just purxhased REX. While the clouds and water work with tileproxy just fine, it seems likethe reefs are completely covered up by the generic tileproxy blue coloured ocean. So I'm stuck running standard FSX to see reefs, or tileproxy for land detail textures but with flat blue ocean. Has anyone found a way to let the reefs be overlaid on the tileproxy dark blue tiles? (And for that matter, what's the rgb hue for tropical areas that have lighter hued ocean water...? :)

I can't seem to get things operating smoothly no matter what I do... can someone offer some insight regarding my ProxyUser.ini file and my fsx.cfg file? Symptoms??? Well I fly around and see blurries... I tried giving TileProxy a dedicated hard drive, copied and pasted Bojote's most recent fsx.cfg, tried hyperthreading both on and off, got the external FPS Limiter running at 30FPS, tried fiber_frame_time_fraction = 1.33 - all these efforts to no avail. I've even tried dropping max_lod to 13 - the blurries persist. I mean c'mon, I'm running 4.6GHz here with 8GB memory - I know this isn't a hardware issue. Here's a direct download link to each, but I'll also quote my INI fil…

Hello Lyod,I'll try and make this the last post for a while! I am nearly there and thank you for your time. My issue is best explained by the pictures I a have attached. I am seeking to gain a smooth look to my textures but at the moment I have this horrible shimmering look to them. I have a very powerful system and I am sure I can get a better look than the one I am currently getting. Please kindly take a look at my attached pictures. The picture at the bottom is the effect I am trying to seek, nice smooth look to the textures. Also, is there anything i can do to make the image clearer when flying lower, instead of the blur I get? My proxy.ini and pictures are below.Thank…

Hi there, let's assume we are using service1 (=Bing Maps). If I open my web browser and look at somewhere around Frankfurt airport (Germany) I see default aerial view (=satellite view). But I also can choose "Bird View" (detailed image) for this region, as HQ images are available. These are aerial pictures made by airplanes or helicopters, and therefore show much more details. My question is:How can we put Tileproxy to also download this very high LOD pictures at BIRD VIEW? I adjusted my Bing service to use max_lod=21 but TP doesn't seem to load these BIRD VIEW pictures. Anyone knows, how to do that?

Hi everybody,I recently came across tileproxy, a software that uses map services to create on the go sceaneries for Flight Simulator. I visited www.edtruthan.com/tileproxy/tutorial and use their ini file. It worked nice with Yahoo Maps but it didn't work with any other map service. I have w7 64 bit, 4 gb ddr3, I3 550 (3.2Ghz), Nvidea 9800 GT, 1TB seagate HD, FSX SP2, etc. I manage to tweak windows 7 and disable the signed driver thing and I got running tileproxy flawlessly. The only issue I have is that I can't to access all the map services. Service Example 1 and Service Example 4 give blurry and weird results. Only Service Example 3 works.I usually fly over Puerto …

Someone help me please, I searched lots of hours the internet but didn't find useful information. How the hell can I tell Google Maps in the URL to use quad coordinates? I found all the syntax for Googe Maps here but I don't know how to use a quadtree coordinate instead of Lon./Lat. or text search after the query field (q).Anyone knows the correct syntax?

Hey all, first of all I want to thank the author of this amazing tool. I heard lot about Tileproxy, but never tried it out, because I heard it won't work well. Now I saw this latest beta version and wanted to try it out. I spent lots of hours with reading manuals and configuring. I am using Service1 (VE) with the latest map version as described in the sticky. I am using a very good machine and have 30MBit internet connection, I think this is quite enough. I also checked manually on Bing Maps if my desired area is covered with HQ material, and yes it is. Here's the example:I don't know if this is LOD17, but if I zoom one more step I don't get an image. So this is the last z…

At first, when I started using Tileproxy on the intro island, St. Maarten's I thought wow ACES were so accurate that the island looked like the real thing anyway! How naive I was, because when I went to Cairo to see the pyramids, I noticed this:The pyramids and some of the map are still completely default. PLEASE tell me there is a work around.

I only have one hard drive so I realize I might be a bit limited, but is it true that if I take my time online gathering tiles, in offline mode they'll load a lot faster? If so, how would I set this up, besides just turning it on? How fast could they load? should I switch to a lower resolution for jet flights? Will GA's be able to handle 1m?
