While taking a scenic over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Grand Canyon, I began wondering if it is wise, let alone even allowed, to fly single engine prop or turbo aircraft over the Grand Canyon for real. I had my Meridian and thought about whether I'd make it to any airport in time if my engine quit. I have a World Air Routes Scenic Airways twin Fokker video, and it seems quite vast and distant once over the middle of the canyon. Does anyone know if there are any restrictions in the real world?? I can't think of a better term than "glistening" or "sparkling" but for a while now, I noticed that while taxiing for one, pavement looks like it has thousands of glistening or sparkling needles. Coming into KLAS at Las Vegas, mountains are sparkling, shimmering, flashing, or whatever, kind of like anti-aliasing prevents. I checked my ATI 9800 XT control panel, and Anti-Ali is still set. It seems something got changed or tripped, cause I don't remember this effect before. I used to have pretty smooth textures, but I can't figure what to adjust or reset. Any ideas? Thanks. Tom

Ok.. so up until now I've simply used Shift+P to start the pushback sequence. Unless I've had a ground control add-on built into the plane, I've never been able to turn the aircraft using the 1-2 keys. Short of changing the bindings, is there some special trick similar to the Shift+E+1,2,3 to get the a/c to turn?

I'm trying to find the best looking freeware/addon textures for the stock FS9 runway, taxiway, strobes, etc. I know (over the past few years) that there have been many different iterations of textures downloaded to the AVSIM library....specifically "HALO.BMP" and some other associated ones.Can any of you suggest what YOU'VE INSTALLED, and if you like the look?I'd like to also download those and see how it looks in my sim. I'm currently having problems getting them to look realistic (and not overly enlarged and fuzzy.....this is a recent development since I had to reinstall FS9 and all addons over this past weekend).Mike

I installed Bill Morads panel for the 421 Eagle and am using it in FS9. Am having trouble with the vc. Attached is a screen of problem. The navagation zoom gauges are super imposed on vc. Tried everything I can think of, even to editing out gauges, zoom panel. There are an extra set of gauges in window of #3 vc, but editing out these out does no good.anyone has an idea? it is an old panel's modification that I reinstalled now on fs9someone could help me?thanks

Hi everyone!Does anyone know if it is any way of increasing the FS2004 autogen density to more than it is in the menu?For example in FSX's CFG file you can define the max autogen buildings and trees per cell....Is it possible in FS9?Truls S. JohnsenENGM

For FS comparison - I own the RA Spit 14, and have tried (about 20 flights & returned) the Spit Mk16 by Plane Design.Graphics: It has one of the best cockpits of any aircraft I've flown - certainly on a par with the Safir or the Do-27. The detail is almost photoreal, with realistically-sized gauges (I compared the cockpit to a good inside shot of a r/w Mk1), well-proportioned and proto-typical. Externally, the aircraft appears more smoke-blackened and dirtier than most, and the textures are not as crisp as others - but all the right, photoreal detail is there and I could find nothing to really fault it. Just thought i mention something...I was flying around yesterday and I figure I take the sf260 for a nice IFR cross country flight with the charts and everything... I hadn't flown that thing in a while...man, never really realized how 'real' that plane feels... being a pilot and really knowing how planes feel real, by far I would have to say sf260 is the best... I mean if you go into a stall, the plane actually buffets and falls... really smooth to do forward slips with them, and not to mention flaring with this plane is very realistic... its not common to have a FS9 plane that you can flare very nicely... this one feels pretty darn real... I have noticed that when pushing back, some AI aircraft rotate clockwise while others rotate counter clockwise.Does anyone know what controls the rotation direction and how it can be modified? Does it have to do with the parking place positioning in Afcad perhaps?Thanks in advance for any advice.

Greetings folks - Just wanted to pass along a little hiccup that seems to occur on my installation of Vista (Ultimate) with FS9 & FSNavigator.First off, FS2004 runs quite well in Vista. No problems in the sim itself, and for me it runs smoother with less micro-stutters than it did in XP (*I am a clean-install nutcase, so I can say with confidence that FS9 in a clean install Vista works smoother than FS9 in a clean install XP situation). I hit a bit of a problem with FSNavigator though. When operating FSNav in full screen mode, things seem OK - but when I Ctrl-F9 the FSNav window to a smaller "in-game" window, my frames get chopped. Hi All,I am a big C-17 fan and am using the FSD C-17 in FS9 (best available). I would like to be able to integrate the Paul Schwerdtfeger FS2002 panel. Owen Hewitt made a panel config that intergated this panle a few years ago but he doesn't have it anymore. Does anyone have this panel config? Downloaded this aircraft, repainted it in RAAF colours, but am having a pig of a time trying to fly this thing.No disrespect to Mike, it could be something im not doing right.The problem im having is when the autopilot is trying to capture the altitude whilst climbing. When it does try to capture, it porpoises like you wouldnt believe, up to 3000ft + and -, and continues to do so, it just wont capture the selected altitude. Does anybody else have troubles similar to mine with this aircraft?

I'm reinstalling FS9 after installing a new HD. I have installed GEP, but see references in the application to UT textures/scenery. Should I have installed UT first- and can I install it now with GEP installed?Thanks- my memory's fading :)Bruce.

Hi All,I am running FS9.1 since a long time now, but recently, after starting FS9 and in the screen "Create a Flight" the selected aircraft does not appear anymore in the lower part of the screen.The same problem appears also in the "View Options" screen, in all selected views the little window remains black.I do not see what change created this problem, the only thing I remember is adding new sceneries.Does anybody know what can cause this ?Thank you for your assistance.Serge.

Is it a complicated process the change the color of an aircraft panel? I know next to nothing of panel design. It wouldn't matter except that turquoise just doesn't do it for me as a panel color.

Hi all! Quick question, I have an Afcad for UK2000 Manchester EGCC which has all the current airline parking specs but unfortunately has one problem. At EGCC the normal use of runways 24R and 24L is 24R for arrival and 24L for departure. However my afcad has them the other way around. Is there a way I can switch them to the way I want as I dont want to stop using it due to the fact the airline parking is correct. Any help would be appreciatedRichard

Hi, does any one have the SGA Dc 10 free ware? A really nice machine , i put in the new panel with the night lights and it's real nice and flies well . But trouble i have is what's the N! limit when taking off cause if it's N 107 % my oh my when your heavy she just don't want to go and let alone after wheels up your just draging your selve at 500 ft to get going so i'm wondering if it's right or do you just slam it to the end and let her go. If you load at landing weight of 420000 it's not bad but 500 5500000 she has no power . Louis
