As a simmer for the past 5 years, I have to say that the amount of freeware addons are incredible. The amount of work that people have done for others is what makes me love this community. I finally decided to give back and want to make freeware scenery of my own. I have made 2-3 airports and though I am not the best, it looks like gold compared to the many default runway-only airports in FS9. The only thing holding me back is the amount of people who will find my scenery useful. FS9 is over 11 years old and though my computer handles it much better, I see that most people have switched to FSX and P3D. If I design scenery for FS9, will people be able to enjoy it or am…

Has anybody tried to update their FS9-PC's to the latest 320.18 Nvidia Driver? Seems to have a real negative effect on FS9, doing something to the elemental shading/lighting/reflection-rendering properties of the sim. - Default 172SP's and other default plane’s rotating-icons on the entry-screen seemed to have an overall shadow, with only the doors, float-struts, and seemingly random control-surfaces retaining their correct shading/lighting/coloring aspects, giving the planes an all-over haphazard two or three-tone effect. - This effect from the start-up screen’s rotating icon’s carries through to the 3d-game -world; all over normal coloring/shading is shadowe…

Hello there I recently had to reboot my hard drive and lost all settings for FS9 I have merged project airbus model woth wilco panel and made all usual relevent changes to the config (exits, lights, contact points) but the model sinks on the nose when throttling up and on braking I know has something to do with the contact points but I am not sure how to edit them Can anyone help? I am totally shocked. A few minutes ago I was using my FS9 without a problem. I uploaded a flight plan that required a parking spot and downloaded an AFCAD file made for a very small scenery for SLOR (Oruro, Bolivia) and the only one I found was for FSX. I changed it to AF2_SLOR from its original format (FSX_SLOR) hoping it would work for me. All it did was to install parking spaces. I was actually looking for a simple scenery that would replace the default airport which sits inside a huge hole. I moved to another airport and noticed that my SLEW mode was not working properly. I normally press the "Y" in my key board and move around using the numeric keyboard. Unfortunate…

This after an OOM message... fs9.exe - Application Error The instruction at "0x7c14f0e7" referenced memory at "0x0000001c". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program I have been around FS9 long enough to know that it probably has nothing to do with "memory". Possibly related, there was a Windows Update a little prior. This being WIN XP, I see the System Restore function has kindly been disabled (by MS as part of their "unsupport"?) I wondered if any of the assembled expertise has a quick fix. If I have to re-install the sim or do anything that takes more than an hour... it's gone, and I will look to other amusements. :(

For FS9, which is the better Cessna 172? RealAir Simulations or Flight1? Looking to buy one, but don't know which one I should get.....

I just downloaded landclass made by Flight Ontario that covers the southern parts of British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan. Now I have add on airports in those areas that came with landclass (I also have scenery made by Holger Sandmann in that area), do I need to delete that landclass before I put in the new landclass I downloaded from Flight Ontario?

Hi guys. I have had problems with aircraft effects. The thing that happens is that when I'm flying with any aircraft and I go above 25000 feet or so, the vapour effect appears. BUT the effect is not detailed as all it is, is just a white thin platform of vapour rather than puffs of white detailed vapour. When im flying my add-on aircraft that have afterburners like the F-18 superhornet, when you look backwards and see the afterburner alight, it is just two flickering blue squares, rather than full-on brilliant looking burners. Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I have been an avid FS9'er for many years and my old rig passed away a few months ago. it wasn't the most powerful rig in the world but I had added many add one and tweaked things here and there and it ran to an acceptable level. I was reading some stuff in the forums and found a discussion in which our good friend Rafal gave someone advice about the importance of not mixing DXT3 textures with alpha and those without. He mentioned a utility that is available at Alpha India Group's website called AlphaSearcher. I went to their site and saw a discussion in which someone thanked the author and said that he had used it to identify textures at Aerosoft's Maastricht and having fixed them, he was now getting smooth performance. I am very new to all of this and I'm sorry if this question is in the wrong spot. My fuel amount is not recognized. I can have no fuel at all and will fly all over. Another version of the C-130 will say I need to hit ctrl x to fill up. All tanks are full. What am I missing?? Thank you

I purchased and downloaded FSC9. When I started to install this I got a message "MSFS9 NOT FOUND. INSTALL FIRST THEN RELOAD". I clicked OK. Got the main Database Manager page. Lefthand side says "select Flight Simulator Path here. Did that, but on the righthand side it says "Invalivd path". So wont go any further and load.Please help.ThanksPaul :(

Hi avsim, There are gauges flickering in cockpit in my FS2004 whether it's a default panel or addon panel, I'm not sure if it's because of 2D ones. Even if I open a panel window like the gps. I tried changing several settings in the display but no result. My specs are : i7-3770 @ 3.4Ghz Nvidia GTX 660 2GB RAM 16GB DDR3 1.6Mhz 2 hard drives win7 home premium When I used to fly on my average performance laptop it never did that. I have a desktop computer that was supplied with an mid- range AMD video card. I have questioned myself many times why the AMD user interface seems so ineffective compared to what nVidia makes available. It seems to me that most of the selections make to visible difference in FS9. In doing some looking around on forums I am discovering that there are quite a few AMD users that have the same problem. Some have said that it appears that FS9 and the Catalyst Control Center are not compatible. I have no big complaints about how the sim looks and performs. Hi There! Trying to get Nvidia Control Panel settings set to a "optimum setting" for best visual display purposes for FS9. I am not a guru on video settings at all, so I need guidance. I have listed my NCP setting options here to help you see what I "see". The Bold text will show what is the current setting. I just need suggested NCP settings to help FS9 "look the best". Because other than AA, I don't know what these NCP settings specifically affect FS9 - visually. Okay ... I just got another monitor so I could set up my XP machine with 3 monitors to use in FS 2004. I have the Kensington adapter for the left display to USB hook up to USB port on mobo. It has a config panel, in the system tray, but it had not proven helpful. There is a "Kensington Display-link Manager" option that is nothing more than a icon tell me the version. There is a "Kensington Universal Multi-Display Adapter, which leads to a side menu ... "extend to", "extend" "set as main monitor" "mirror" and "off".
