This is my very first try at d/l an aircraft,and I thought per the installion text included with the file ,it would be a snap. I think I must have done something wrong. The file I d/l'd from AVSIM LIBrary is Milton Shupe Aero Commander 500 (no VC) AC500V1After reaching the desktop I scanned it for virus,unzipped it and then just double clicked the .EXE file and followed the install wizard. All seemed well,until I tried to start MSFS9. The disk in the CD drive spins as usual;I get the splash screen as usual;then a warning box appears with "aircraft initialization failure:ac500 cargo vc dirty. close box.clicking on close box gets me back to the desktopWHOOPS. I'll be upgrading my computer next week (ordering the parts tommorow morning) and I was curious to see if I should install Vista on the computer... my laptop has it, and I really like it. However I don't know how FS9 (and other games) fare with it.... This is more of my 'gaming' computer, so.... I know the only benefit I can think of is the DX10, but can't think of anything else.

Help! I tried to do it myself, and now I'm paying for it. I tried to add a GPS to my Flight1 Pilatus PC-12. First, I made a copy of the panel.cfg file before I started editing. My changes which is the subject of another post, didn't seem to work, for when I tried to open FS and select the aircraft, it was no longer in my aircraft menu. I figured it had to do with the editing, so I recopied the backup file to the panel folder but it still doesn't show up. What happened??? Thanks. Tom

I hear a lot of people on here praising products like Ultimate Traffic, MYTraffic, etc, but I am curious to hear how many people here use only the default AI and are perfectly happy with it.....On another note, if one was going to download packages from, say, world-of-ai, PAI, etc, is there an AFCAD package that one can download that will fix all of the "default" airports for use with packages like these, or are you still going to have to download individual AFCADS? Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm still not sure I understand AFCAD files - do they say what "type" of plane parks in a spot, or do they assign diferent "airlines" to a parking spot? When I try to turn on anisotropic filtering (16X) I actually see absolutely no difference in FS9 in Vista. On my XP machine, with a 6600GT, AF has a huge effect on visuals, most notably on roads trailing off in the distance. With AF off, they very quickly turn to mush. I can't get this to work with Vista. Anyone have any clues as to the possible issue?

Guys,I have an extra PCPower and Cooling 1k power supply. This is a single SLI supply with dual 12V rails not Quad. The only setup this will not support is dual 8800GTX which requires the Quad SLI I have now.This is hands down the best Power Supply on the market and I believe went for ~ $500 when I got it. I need the space in the closet so if someone wants to take it for $100 + shipping it is all yours. Anyone know why my terrain looks like this?http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/174427.jpgThis shot was taken east of LA. I have Ultimate Terrain USA, GEPro, and FSGenesis North America Mesh and US Landclass Project. I installed the mesh first, then UT, then GEPro, then the landclass. But for some reason, I don't think the landclass is registering. It looks as if the Ultimate Terrain or GEPro textures are under this ugly tiled brownish-orange texture. Did I install these add-ons in the wrong order? Any help in solving this terrain texture/landclass dilemma will be greatly appreciated!

I've successfully installed and flown the latest Dash 7 VC by Milton but only the Greenland Dash appears in Fs2004, not the Tyrolean livery. This is bizarre because they are both in the .cfg folder and all appears normal with the text. But in the SELECT AIRCRAFT menu of FS2004, only the Greenland a/c appears. I can't for the life of me get the Tyrolean colors to appear as well. Can anybody help?Also, can anybody explain the Base Texture Folder to me? I don't understand the associated readme file and cannot figure out what to do with it.Appreciate any assistance, thanks!JS

Hadn't tried this one before, but now with the recent v2 -- very nice aircraft, and thanks to Milton and the Team. It flies very nice but I am having one problem, probably an operator malfunction: I have a problem coming out of reverse pitch. The aircraft takes off like a rocket. My setup is that I have throttle with a dead area set at the idle end via fsuipc. I do to idle and then have an F2 key programmed with a repeat, which causes the power levers to go into reverse -- all well and good. To come out of reverse I bump my throttle and it immediately goes to idle, but I guess the engines are still spun up. Shouldn't the pitch go into beta or something? Where shou…

You made it!I can not tell you how suprised and happy I was, when I was browsing the Avsim files today!After the great, great disappointment reading your (understandable) announcement about cancelling the Dash-7 project, this is my happiest day in my flightsimulator life! I didn't believe it until I did saw this baby on my screen. I told you about my special relationship to this bird...The virtual cockpit is amazing and so is the, preferred by me, 2D cockpit.It cost some fps but they are definitely worth the improvements done by you and your team. I was wondering how to add those awesome screen shakes that are visible from the spot plane and tower views?I have Active Camera installed and the spot turbulence turned on but I don't see it. Any suggestions?

I installed a couple of scenic file from Brasil and now FS9 gets to the splash sacreen, builds the scenic data etc etc and then just sits there. Its hard to find the premium stuff with so much in the library, so is there any must have FS9 freeware scenery? Specifially I am looking for something to enhance the water in FS9.I've been forced to go back to FS9 to enjoy the cloud9 phantom, but it looks a bit tacky compared to FSX, so I am also interested in getting some scenery to spice up a good fying area. I'm looking for something with large coverage, and something that is on par with payware scenery. For now I'll keep digging through the library. Thanks!

I need some help in trying to add the default Garmin 500 to the Flight1 PC-12. I created a new window in Panel.cfg with the next available window number, and then copied the new window info below exactly as it is in the default 172 panel.cfg file. I am planning on opening the window with Shift and the window number, but now when I startup FS, the PC-12 is no longer listed. Something's obviously wrong in my editing. What does the ident line refer to? I thought this might be the problem. Some entries have a gauge reference and others just a number such as "ident+130." Thanks. Tom
