A couple of days ago I was talking to my brother-in-law who has recently decided to go for the Windows 10 upgrade. He was previously running Windows 7. I asked him how it all went and, as expected, he said there were no problems. I then asked him how he would re-install Windows 10 if his hard disk went south and he had to buy a new one. He had absolutely no idea!! So I decided to look on the Internet to see how this could be done and I have to say it is a bit confusing. I have one or two airports (my version of LSGG for instance) at which, when you taxi along the apron and taxiways, dust/dirt is kicked up by the wheels from the concrete, as per fx_tchdrt.fx. Only on the runways is it OK. Anyone know how to stop this from happening at individual airports, without disabling the fx file? The AFCAD does show concrete in the areas where this happens, so I am not sure why the problem occurs. Thanks, Martin

Why do I so often lose the ability to set the brakes in FS9? At the moment I am flying the TinMouse 737-200 and almost every flight, by the time I get to the runway for take-off, the brakes no longer work, either via the Saitek X52 or via the usual keyboard shortcut (which still shows OK in the assignments screen). Parking brakes still work OK.. If I reload the aircraft, then brakes are OK again (but reloading certain a/c can mean starting the flight from scratch - panels not reloading in the same state etc., and then the issue can easily repeat itself ten minutes later). Hi. I always used the real world weather on Fs2004. I see realistic addons of weather and I was looking to download/buy one. What is a good weather addon that allows me to use weather that is not real time? For example the current time is 9 am and I want to use weather from 7 am. What addon will allow me to do that?

Greetings! I'm perplexed as to why some of the aforementioned Textures will not show the Front Intake detail and the Fan Disk in the Select Aircraft screen... I have matched up the Textures and the corresponding Model folder in the Aircraft.cfg, but when you look at the bird head on, the inside of the Intakes are just white... I have FS9 installed with win10. everything looks and works great, including framerate. The only problem I have is the scenery is off by approx 12 degrees to the right of center line. The FMC and everything else is working correctly. For example, if I am sitting and the end of rwy 24L at LAX with my nose pointed down the centerline I should be sitting at heading 250-251. But my instriments show me at 262. The FMC is correct and the display shows the rwy correctly and the plane pointing about 12 degrees to the right. I have recently upgraded from Windows 7 to 10 but although all else works FS9 has a problem. Using disk 4 I can get nothing but by inserting the no cd file the programme loads to the central splash screen as normal and then the usual wait for the Settings/Flight panel. However, all I get is a black screen with a very much enlarged blue "wait" circle and eventually a totally black screen with a much enlarged white cursor arrow. To exit I have to type Ctrl-Alt-Del which gives me the various exit options BUT whichever one I select I get an instantaneous flash of the Settings/Flight panel in very large format. Hey! I have Windows 10 and FS9. Why can it be that all my AI aircraft depart and/or arrive 2 hours too late? My Time settings are correct, at EBAW we have local time now 2 hours before GMT, and that is also what FS Real Time shows me. However, I have a AI flightplan programming departure 07:20h at EBAW, and the aircraft stays there waiting and starts only at 09.20h. Why can this be? Do I have to modify any setting somewhere? I had to reinstall Win7 I installed FS9.1 ok Maddog installed but I got a message saying .. The registration program was not able to contact the server. So, I sent an e-mail to [email protected] using my purchased e-mail account (Comcast.net): In the e-mail I included: My Purchase e-mail address. My Purchase Code from SimMarket receipt. Hi, I can give more details of course, but to start simple - does anyone recognise these problems, which I have been struggling with literally for years: 1. A helicopter (including the default Bell 206b) will make no engine/rotor sounds unless you start a flight from the default Cessna, with engines running moreover. Not all my installed helicopters have this problem, but a good number. 2. The helicopter (like the Bell 412 from HoverControl) will start and I get sounds, but when I increase the throttle to lift off, the rotors stop. As I pull the throttle back to idle, they start up again. Same if I press F4. Only when I press F1 do the rotors turn normally. …

As the title suggests, I get a message that there are "over 3,000 reports out of date". It goes on to suggest that my computer clock might be set at some time in the future! Thought I'd ask here if anyone has come across this? before plunging into the HiFi support Ticket system.

Well, I sourced a CD on eBay. It's from a decommissioned Samsung PC. I read on the Web that sometimes these copies will only install on a PC made by the manufacturer so as I've built my own computer I'm hoping that everything will work OK. I won't install XP until I either have to [say a HD failure] or something goes wrong [like Windows 7 screws up on me]. Dijvid

Hello again to you all, I have recently uninstalled and completely re-installed (after reformat of drive) Windows 7 and FS9 after huge problems with the Win10 update. I updated to fs9.1(no CD key). Added some payware only aircraft and some freeware sceneries, notably VOZ 1.8 complete (fresh download) Incidently I have had problems before with this one, particularly in the YBBN area ... your computer has run out of memory. Running dxt3 fixer has normally fixed that. The only other programme installed is My Traffic2010. I have scenery for Vina del Mar in Chile. When I tried to copy the files to my FS9 one file will not copy over. When I try to copy it I get a 0x80004005 error. The file is Image2.bmp. Without this file some of the tarmac has no textures. Any idea why I can't copy this one file? The scenery is found on flightsim and the file name is scvm07.zip

While looking for South American scenery I stumbled across this Facebook page that had freeware scenery for Chile. (you have to scroll through the page to get to them) https://www.facebook.com/groups/405858796183051/ The scenery is for both FS9 and FSX. They have scenery for SCNT, SCAT, SCBA, SCDA, SCPQ, SCJO, SCIE *this one is donationware), and SCIP (this one is donationware). I installed all of them except for the two donationware sceneries. Overall they are good sceneries, my favorite one is SCDA.

Hello everyone. I have FS9 and has been running very slowly for the past couple of years as I continue to add sceneries and thousands of AI flightplans. I still run it on Windows XP. I would like to upgrade to windows 7 and use a second drive instead of drive C. Will it run on Windows 7 as well? Thanks for your help.

Hi! I got a new PC with Windows 7 and Directx 11 and installed my dear FS9. I read somewhere that Directx 11 isn't compatible with FS9, but I ran it and it actually works, but with poor perormance. So can anyone tip me what to do? Is it possible to change back to Directx 9, and, if so, how to do that. And is Windows 7 compatible with Directx 9? I'd be very grateful for tips.... I tried today to fly from PKMA, Marshall Islands and found that, although I didn't get a CTD, FS9 stops working as it tries to load the scenery files... it never gets past 0%. At the same time I can see in Task Manager that the CPU usage also drops to zero, and stays there... Thought it might be my 3rd. party addon for the Marshall Islands, but no, without that scenery, just the same thing happens. Options are QWings, PSS and CaptainSim. I owned the two first but removed them from my sim 2 PCs ago. What about the latter? Is it still worth it, especially in comparison to what I am used to flying nowadays: iFly, Maddog? I am interested in the systems and the accuracy of flight. Thanks
