Having learned that one of my 'must have' FS9 programmes (FSHotSFX) will not work in Windows 7, (as per thread below), I wonder whether to have XP 64-bit installed on my (planned) new PC instead of Windows 7 64-bit. Would I lose out though in other ways if I make this decision? Are there advantages to Windows 7 64-bit over XP 64-bit in FS9 and FSX??Thanks,Martin

I've only just started using the "Most Realistic AI" Flightplan Installer/Wizard v.1.24). I thought the use would be intuitive, but it isn't: makes me feel totally stupid!!I have Googled for an MRAI help file & looked on the MRAI site but can find nothing. Is there a help file/user guide somewhere? I know it's not all that complex, but I don't know, for instance, what the checkbox ("Use fixed arrival, '@'") is. What's a "Special livery data file"? And when I come to the part where I have to associate an existing AI a/c with the downloaded flight plan, MRAI only finds my flyable FS9 a/c mdl files (PMDG etc.), not those for my AI a/c, even though the AI folders are all …

I'm having CTD's after flying for any length of time then trying to tune in ATIS of the destination airport. FS 9 stops, I get a black screen, then an error message with the do you want to restart question. Any body have any ideas? Hi Guys,This is maybe not a new topic but as a newbie I thought I would give it a trawl.Does anybody know how to make approach lights display in daylight using FS9? I can only get them to show at dusk or at night.As a retired air traffic controller I know that they are deployed in daylight at varying intensity. Very useful when landing into sun for instance or in bright but misty conditions.Thanks anybody.Dave (regulator)

I have a small number of 'AFX_****.bgl' type AFCAD files which have errors and I want to correct them: for the moment though I have only AFCAD2 (waiting for a new PC to be installed before I purchase the AFX tool itself), so cannot edit the files directly without losing information. I am able to correct faults, but only by creating a corrected (AF2_) copy of the AFX AFCAD, and saving it somewhere which has a higher priority than the original.My question though is, are both AFCADs - the AFX original and my AF2 'dummy' - used by FS9? In other words, as my AF2 file has a higher priority in FS9 than the original AFX AFCAD, will the latter still be read and the data in it used…

Does anyone know of a replacement for my beloved FSHotSFX (one of the best addons for FS ever, if woefully under-supported by the developer). When I get a new PC it will run Win7 64-bit and FSHotSFX will not run under Win7, so all my reverser noises etc. for FS traffic will be lost. Almost worth having XP 64-bit instead.So if anyone knows how to make the loss less painful, I'd be grateful. There are various AI sounds in the AVSIM library of course, but will any of them wortk at all like FSHotSFX?Martin :(

Hello AllI have recently been giving my Posky 747s an outing and after much updating,service packing,FDEing,cfg altering,service vehicles installing and still to be done finding the fix for increasing the ground taxxing characteristics(white knuckles as grip my joystick ferociously(steady)in an attempt to get the mighty beasts to turn) I have been enjoying the experience.However one thing that I am finding a little irksome is after I touchdown I don't actually HEAR the aircraft touchdown and I don't hear a decent reverse thrust sound either,this is making it difficult to know if I have actually hit the deck.Can somebody please tell me what sound settings in FS9 are good f…

I was enjoying a beautiful flight from ATL to BZN (Bozeman, Montana) in a PMDG 747-400 into a setting sun when just outside of Billings getting ready to start my descent when FS9 crahed to desktop telling me there wasn't enough memory. I have a Core2 Quad with an Invidia 9800 GTX video card so I was surprised when this happened. Running along side FS9 was Active Sky Evolution both of which were activated via Multi-Core Environment. If you wouldn't mind, please refresh my memory. If I have a USA wide landclass and some of my individual sceneries have landclass files themselves, then the landclass with the highest priority, (the lowest number), in the same area wins...right? Please advise and thanks!Mark

I had to re-install FS9 and all my addon's a week ago when I lost my computer to a virus. I've got everything back to where it needs to be except in the past I was able to run FS9 as a normal window and now I have to make it full screen in order for it to work. I've downloaded all drivers and everything-- I just can't figure it out. I enjoyed when it was a normal window and I could just minimize the window and do email and then go back to it.Any suggestions?Thanks in advance!

I'm installing Project AI traffic and was wondering if it is best to have loads of separate traffic files for each airline or to compile all the traffic into a single traffic file. What will give the best performance?

Has anybody else experienced a random ATC "chatter" sound file that plays over and over? It goes something like - Unintelligle radio chatter (mutter, mutter, mutter" --- then a reply from an American "pilot" voice saying "Thanks very much, we love you." It just keeps repeating itself over and over. It's not all the time - it seems to happen randomly. I am pretty sure it was added by that wonderful freeware Voice Mod program - I think when you use the option to accelerate the speech rate to a more "real world" speed. Not complaining about Voice Mod Pack (or whatever it's called - it's a wonderful program.) But I sure would like to get rid of this annoying file. Does anybod…

I've used and been satisfied with this product since its release for FS2004. It looks like I have Version 1.2 and understand Version 2.0 is now available. The question is - is this a $12.95 charge for this new version? The website is limited and the FAQ's doesn not clarify. Many thanks.

Guys,I have LLBG 2006, a really good scenery that I use in conjunction with Tel Aviv photoreal and thus have a great experience upon arriving at LLBG. However, there is this problem that has always been there: I always am told to land at runway 30. From all times I have landed in real life at LLBG (must be over 20 times), we have landed on runway 30 only 3 or 4 times. Looking at the charts, I see lead-in lights at runway 12 and 26, and indeed, we have always landed most often at runway 12. I know that in PFE you can close down one end of a runway, so that PFE will never send you to land there. That way I can ensure I will not land at 30, but at 12 or 26. I was wondering h…

Hello folksI have two freeware ATR 72-500s one is made by ISDT very nice models.The other is by Francisco Sánchez-Castañer My question is this one of these aircraft will cruise(fl230) at between 180-195 occasionally 200 kts(it feels sluggish and cruises with a nose up attitude.)The other model at the same altitude and with similar fuel loads cruises at 210-220kts)It certainly feels to me as a sim plane much better at these speeds and also no nose up (or little anyway).What is the correct cruising speed please.Both aircraft use the same panel and use an engine management system(sort of auto throttle I think)cheers Andy

I've had MegaScenery New York installed for quite some time and have always owned a copy of Aerosoft's Manhattan as well. I decided to finally try the Aerosoft product, (after all these years), and found that it's so much nicer then the MegaScenery version that I want to use it instead. The issue being is that I never did take note of what the MegaScenery installer did to my Scenery\Name folder. I also have a bunch of other sceneries that have also modified that folder. I would just like to know what BGLs have been altered by MegaScenery so I can rename them and keep them in the folder in case I ever want to revert back.So does anyone know/have a list of what MegaScenery …

I've noticed that many aircraft addons including Captain Sim have rendered both wings visible when in VC mode, allowing for wing views to made.Other addons, however, such as PMDG 747, have not portrayed the wings in VC. My question is, is there any way to adjust the model so that the wings become visible? And does it involve the PMDG mdl file?ThanksPatrick

When I start my FS9 before it gets to the start screen where you select your plane, airport, and stuff like that FS9 asks me if I want to exit the flight sim. Very wierd.This is not a problem (I just click "no" and the sim runs fine) but I am wondering why all of a sudden the sim is asking me if I want to exit the sim even before the start screen comes up.

Quick question, I want to remove the enb series bloom plug in, But I cannot remember which two files I need to remove out of my fs9 folder? I don't want to remove the wrong stuff. Thnx in advance

Hello fellow simmers. I am having a problem with a couple of sceneries and hope you might have a cause and solution.I have Imaginesim's KSJC (San Jose Mineta) scenery and after not having flown from there for quite a while, I experience a serious drop in FPS's when at or above the airport. I did not have this issue before. I was getting 28-30 FPS, but now I get only 4-6, a real slide show.I have not changed anything with my system and this doesn't happen with any other scenerys, except that I downloaded the Chena Marina AK28 and right from the get-go, this one also displayed 4-6 FPS.Now I can take-off from a nearby airport in San Jose, like KRHV (Reid-Hillview) with norma…
