  1. Very well done review. I have been using this AOA MD-11F training for the last 6 weeks and am in total agreement as to the quantity and quality of training material. I am probably most impressed with the HD videos with the use of a slick little pointer (the AOA repaint of course), lots of zooming in and out, and fantastic VC views using the TrakIR and EZdok. The narration is also of the highest caliber. It is just light years ahead of anything else out there.I would like to see supplemental lessons on some of the panels unique to the MD flight deck. The Flight Control Panel (FCP) is different enough from the Mode Control Panel (MCP) on the Boeings to merit its own les…

Beware the Thunderbolt! This was the motto of the top scoring for aerial combat in ETO 56th FG, just to contradict the reviewer about the P47 main use as a fighter/bomber; true after the advent of the P-51 Mustang in the Fighter Command, only the 56th kept this aircraft operating in the 8th AF, and still was able to maintain the top to the end of the war in Europe, and this motto was also much subscribed by the Luftwaffe pilots who were facing this 'dinosaur - but a dinosaur vit goot proportions!' [cit. Alex Kartvell, designer of this kite].It's also a coincidence the reviewer citing IL-2 Sturmovik for both the actual aircraft and the WWII sim: in fact I started to fly FS…

That's a quality review of iGMap, Aidan. Glad to see FSWidgets getting some exposure for a great product. I agree that GMap (Android/Tablet) and iGMap (iPhone/iPad) is worth every penny and then some.

Excellent review of a fabulous addon. I especially appreciated that you took the time to cover both the FSX and the FS9 versions. The problem with the docking system is easily solved BTW - don't use it! Being an Aerosoft product, it was released with AES support and I would never fly without it!!! CheersIan

Is anybody else finding that the link to the review for the DC-3 is going to the review of the C 310?

A small correction to an otherwise in my opinion good review: FSbuild nav updates also are not for free anymore. The nav updates for FSbuild (as well as for ISG) are since beginning of this year handled by Navigraph (like also the FSC updates are).Them becoming payware (in a sence) though also has one added advantage: with having become Navigraph updates the FSbuild updates now have become regular, instead of previously much depending on possible available time in Ernie's undoubtably (very) packed schedule. The most recent (and last, as i understood it) free update available for FSbuild is Airac 1009 (from the FSbuild website).Cheers,Stef

  8. Ariane has terrible customer service. You order a downloadable product, they charge your card (a very high price I might add) and then it takes forever to get the product.Ariane needs to get up to speed with the times. If you post you have a downloadable product, then when someone buys it, they should be able to get it. Not wait 48 hours for it.I had no desire to wait that long. Seems petty, but when I buy it, I want to fly with it. You buy from PMDG, you get it. Flight One, You get it. And you get it when you buy it.I wrote to them and said I was calling my bank to cancel the order… I got a reply about canceling my order and calling my bank, much later, with a ridiculous…

An outstanding in-depth review of what appears to be an outstanding in-depth simulation. I must admit I had thought I might pass on this product when I first heard of its launch. I can't buy every add-on and the A300 is an aircraft which I am quite familiar with so there is no "discovery" aspect to it. However this excellent review has made me think twice about this decision and I'm now very tempted to buy it.The only thing I would say is that the review seems to imply that later A300s were fly-by-wire, when this is not the case, apart from the protoype which tested the A320 flight control system. Even the later A310 and A300-600 have traditional flight controls, alth…

It seems Flight 1 have just completed a massive work on European scenery since your March 14th review and I hope the new version GEX Europe v2.0 will be reviewed soon. I wondered why GEX is not included under the "scenery" link on the main reviews page?

Upgrading for FSX is complex, especially if one addon works with another like GEX and UTX. It may be obvious to all except me but when I saw the UTX review dated Dec 2010 I wondered if the review was for a new version because I updated my UTX to 1.4 in June. And so I looked everywhere for a version number but couldn't find one.

  13. A friend of mine turned me on to the Cera Simaircraft (http://cerasimaircraft.com/products.html) Bell 212 and 412 models for FSX. Holy toledo are they awesome! I'm seriously surprised AVSim hasn't managed to get their hands on a copy for a review. Think PMDG for Helicopters!

Greetings to all,I've just read the new review of Aerosoft's Orly airport with interest as I originally purchased the scenery on the first day it was released. It was immediately obvious that this scenery was unusable due to terrible performance issues, so I deleted it very quickly and vowed never to buy another Aerosoft scenery unless it was developed by Simmwings or German Airports Team. One comment in this review grabbed my attention as this issue has been a personal concern and irritation of mine for a long time. This is the comment:"The mark of truly worthwhile scenery is when parts that are not that often visited are modeled with equal amounts of effort and detail. H…

Thanks for a good review. However, I must say that everything you said in it further confirmed Aerosoft's current mindset favoring eye candy over functionality.Once a beta tester for Aerosoft, I still have the utmost respect for Mathijs Kok and the entire Aerosoft team. Very talented guys, but I can't share their production of eye candy-over-function philosophy that began IMO with the Aerosoft F-16. Perhaps one day in the future they'll get back to making the other end of spectrum, add-ons that function even better and more accurately than they look.

Hello,I have read the review which I interpreted as a thoughtful review rather than totally enthusiastic one the final paragraph implies. and also visited the US distributor website with a view to purchasing this product. There is no facility to download the English language version online and you must use Pay pal or send a cashiers cheque to purchase this product. After a brief correspondence by email with the distributor I have sadly declined to purchase this game/simulation for now. The price plus shipping costs translate currently into a whopping NZ$144.44 dollars!! at the current exchange rate. (This includes a $12 US shipping fee). Your reviewer might like to mentio…

  17. I've never given negative feedback on a review before but I really have to say on this one that I disagree with a number of negative statements the reviewer made. I have never noticed any blurry textures and I've been using it since the day they announced it. And I really don't think the comment about birds and sounds should be stated as a negative in the final summary - that's very much a matter of personal taste. And the thing about your security hardware perhaps giving a warning? By all means mention these things in the review but to put them in the negative box at the end elevates the negatives almost to the level of the positives for the scenery. I don't think that's…

I know that we all dont have tip top hi-end systems but the screen shots in that review for KBUF does that airport any good whatsoever. I thnink that ir would have been better if the reviewer was not able to make decent screen shots to at the very least post links to them on Fly Tampa's Site... which is what I will do here in hopes of saving this review.

...that the product is a PORTOVER. The Maddog 2010 is a FS9 portover, not a FSX aircraft. Why isn't this mentioned in the review? This is the single most important thing readers need to know about it!AVSIM reviewers really need to stop dropping the ball. I've brought this up many times and nothing has been done about it. Developers should NOT be rewarded with a good review for a product that doesn't meet today's (or even 3 years ago's) standards. Period. The Maddog developers have said on their forum they have no intent of making a FSX version of this aircraft. They need to be called out for it.

Please do not encourage people to get this add-onn, it is impossible to make it work, it is impossible to make the software to conect with FSX ( please read theis forum discussion before you buy this). There is NO technical REAL support, you are directed to their forums were everybody ask questions and NOBODY answer them.I'm VERY dissatisfy with UT2 , after installed ALL my traffic disapear and the only solution was to unistall UT2.ALL the promisses are very tempting but it not delivering most of them :(

I have to echo everything Aland Bradbury says in his review, it is so simple to use that it is incredible! I just start FS9 and then start ASE and that's it! If I lost my backup disk with MSFS software, Active Sky Evolution (or ASE) is one of the first software I would purchase again. I haven't really tried the different settings on the option page since it works beautifully "out of the box". I have had one issue which I haven't seen since the last patch, namely all the sudden my airplane would start rocking back and forth, ie first banking say 15 degrees to one direction and then snapping into a position where it banks 15 degrees to the other direction and then back agai…

  23. Just a suggestion for the reviewers... Some of the recent reviews that have gone up like the Dodosim Bell 206 and the Maldives X scenery have really excessive levels of lossy JPEG compression on the screenshots - it makes it almost impossible to judge the visual quality of the textures in the products because there's so much of that blocky compression artifacting in the images.Examples:http://www.avsim.com...ior_Utility.jpghttp://www.avsim.com...Aerosoft1/9.jpgI'm not sure how you guys are taking/compressing the screenshots but there should be a quality setting when you save them as jpeg - I generally set that slider no lower than 80% when making screenshots - that reduce…

I enjoyed reading the review of the Carenado C185F Bush. It was well-written, well-illustrated and I thought it was accurate and fair. There were just two omissions that I think could have been mentioned.1. I have found that it has a surprisingly high FPS hit for a GA product with a simple, analogue panel. I even tried converting the textures to DXT3 to see if that would help but it didn't make any appreciable difference. I think readers with modest systems should be warned that they may not be pleased with the FPS they may get from this otherwise excellent product.2. I found that there were several "tweaks" that I had to make to the aircraft.cfg file to correct a few iss…

From the review and screen shots, it looks like they rushed the product a bit. The actual production Cessna 162 has a ventral fin and revised tail shape, due to spin problems. The airframe mod is in the production line aircraft, but the sim modeldoesn't have it. The sim model is based on a second version of the plane... the production plane is version number 4 of the design. Cessna also redid some of the control throws and limits to help the spin recovery. At Oshkosh 2010 they had three of themaround the area and I got to see them fly a couple at Fond duLac airport. They have also updated the interior a bit. I'm going to wait for a good exterior model and actual fl…
