Re : Airbus Series1 EvolutionAVSIM Re : Airbus Series1 Evolution ReviewSummary / Closing RemarksAt the end of the day, the aircraft of the Airbus Series 1 Evo are great to fly, with a good range of Short to Long Range aircraft. They have significant realism and once the minute errors are identified and understood, you can overcome them and fly the aircraft without even knowing they exist. If you’re a person that thinks take off and landing are the most fun parts of the flight, the short range aircraft will suit you very well but if you like cruise procrastination, the long range aircraft would work very well. These aircraft will definitely not rust in my hangar as they will…

Thanks for the review, Drew, very good and complete. And it is refreshing to see a scenery review by somebody who understands the technical aspects, the possibilities and the limitations - this is not very common, unfortunately. Your knowledge and insight allow for good judgment on the true value of the scenery package. And congratulations on your own scenery efforts over the last year, from another Jersey boy.Best regards.Luis

Hi folks,So hows things going with AVSIM Hard Case Hauling at this point? If you remember from the piece we just reached the 49.5 rep mark. After finally reaching the summit of 50 rep points I went ahead and flogged the C172, opened a second base at CYPR (Prince Rupert-ILS and NDB...good stuff), and went ahead and leased a Saratoga for a bigger cargo bay, more speed, and a lovely cockpit thanks to Carenado.Sounds pretty good right? It seemed a great idea as I flew for the first time from CYPW up the coast to CYPR collecting a high value fee and enjoying the new facilities.Small problem.Icing. IFR is no issue beyond the technical challenge but moving just the 300-odd miles …

Soya has posted a great 4:31 minute video showcasing the Carenado Cessna 337H Skymaster in various liveries cruising the Grand Canyon. See it here. 2 musical versions to suit the entire world. I like the original score, music starts at 8 seconds, so don't overboost your speakers.Ray

Ray, I hope you don't feel offended but you've easily broken the word and picture count benchmark set by Alan. I never thought that was possible though. Seriously, a big 'wow!' to the all the work going into the review. It may take me all week to read it in full and I'm sure that the emotions on the huge detail may differ from person to person. But count me in on the ones appreciating it.Those sceneries are nice stuff and they sometimes may get lost when the small flight sim world focuses on the big names in the low'n slow business only.So thanks for bringing them to attention and surely another thanks for looking at them in that detail.

Hi Avsim Reviewers,There is one little issue on your review of this bird. You all say that the fan blades don't move, but they aren't supposed to move because there isn't a fan on these turbines like you would expect on other planes. Just thought I let you know because these old jt8s are not exactly turbofans.

Can´t believe this. Curtiss is not even taking a look at the virtual cockpit...How can a review be complete without taking the VC into account as well?Menno

Nice review Chase.I'm glad to see the EFB has the AVSIM Gold Star to add to all their other accolades. My overview was more of a summary and user overview and I kept hoping someone would do a full review. I use the EFB all the time and agree it is almost necessary for FSX.One feature that seems to really stand out is the use of EFB with those addons that don't support Navigraph or maybe I should say those add ons that don't let Navigraph support them. For instance, using EFB with the Aerosoft AirbusX instantly make all the SIDS, STARS. approaches, charts, etc and the Navigraph near monthly updates available to the AirbusX plus a lot of other features that were not des…

In my Marshall Islands Review I showed a screenshot of N20 INE airstrip surrounded totally by water. When I was writing the review I was puzzled by this so I checked with Google Earth (it also shows it out in the ocean with no land around it) and I contact Graham Michael of PIS to confirm/or otherwise this fact. Unfortunately my question to Graham was not entirely clear, "I also see on my system that INE (N20) is out in the ocean and Google earth shows it like that too! Is that correct?" and Graham wrote back confirming that INE N20 was now correctly positioned (it is not in the default FSX). I mistook that to mean that INE should be surrounded by water but apparently …

Chase summed up the review of the PMDG 737 NGX quite well. I read it with interest, although I already knew the outcome as I got my download on day one also. I was one of the lucky ones with no show stoppers. What I didn't know was . . .(i.e. a sound happening on the left side of your head is more noticeable in the left ear than on the right ear – the same applies in this simulation). My wife and I spend an hour or so on google trying to confirm this. Our conclusion is it is BS, (Our neighbor is an Audiologist and her opinion is the same - BS) but the review was well done, fair and balanced as FOX would say.She recommends we fly as often as we can and enjoy the immers…

Not only is this review woefully short and almost devoid of content, it is also extremely misleading. The description of the scenario "GD-1M93 Paignton to Manchester Piccadilly" says that "This scenario will have you on a tight schedule to Piccadilly with multiple stops." This would lead the reader to expect that the scenario covers the hundreds of miles journey from Paignton in the south west of England to Manchester Piccadilly station in the north of England. However, this is not so. As Just Trains themselves describe the scenario:"Briefing: Your calling points this afternoon are Tiverton Parkway, Taunton, Weston-Super-Mare and Bristol Temple Meads, where you are due to…

As usual, Angelique is to be commended for her thoroughly researched and very complete review. She goes far beyond the normal review and gives us her extraordinary efforts. In particular, all too many, or rather all scenery reviews display a general ignorance of the technical aspects. Because of this, it is very common to read incorrect assumptions and conclusions regarding particular scenery products.Angelique has instead done the work and acquired the knowledge of scenery methods so that her review is not only complete, but also well informed and gives the appropriate analysis. This is an outstanding effort on her part, who is however always giving us outstanding reviews…

Great review and well-written but I just want to point out some things that were in the 'What I don't like' box.1. No noticable seasonal changes. Hawaii actually dosan't have any noticable changes bewtween summer and winter other then storm and wind patterns so there shouldn't be any change at all in terms of vegetation and the surrounding area.2. Lack of realstic night lighting. While I agree that some of the other FSDT could have better night lighting in a few areas, these Hawaiian airports don't have much lighting at all anyways. A few years ago on my trip to Kona our flight was delayed making us land at around 9 Hawaiian time. We flew by parallel to the airport for run…

Pretty good review overall, but when I read a scenery review for FSX (especially airport scenery), there are two things I am looking for from the review:- 1). Plenty of nice screenies.2). Notes from the reviewer about how the scenery performs in FSX, in terms of CPU demand. I noted this review did not make one single reference to how the scenery performs in FSX. Thanks,Stick.

I have had the CS757 for 2 years now. Well if im honest the first year was trying to work out how to fly the bird :Hypnotized: Anyway I think the CS757 cracks the mustard for me. The animations are awsome, just like the functional flightdeck windows etc etc. The CS752 wich i always fly now on VATSIM, has very good flight dynamics. The nose wheel steering is very realistic as it rolls more than any other add ons while taxing the 75. The FMC is good as it has a lot of SIDS/STARS already programmed into the FMC as you dont have to mess around going to navigraph and downloading procedures into it. The model is great on whole, if you stick the TSS RB211-535E4 sound pack on it,…

Thanks for a really good review of the SU Texans pack. I trained and instructed on the Harvard Mk IIA in the South African Air Force in the 1960s, so it was probably closer to the British version. I would like to add my recollections to Drew's observations: Aileron trim, but no wheelThe Harvard had elevator and rudder trim only Propeller pitch will cut engineNo. We used full fine pitch (i.e. pitch lever fully forward) for T/O, reducing to 2000rpm and 29" boost for climb and aerobatics. Cruise was 26" boost @ 1850rpm. The engine was cut by pushing the mixture control fully forward to the full lean position. MagnetosThe switch in the MkII had positions (L to R) OFF.. L..R.…
