I've read many comments about "opinions" on how forum contributors think we do reviews at AVSIM. So let me quell some of the misconceptions. 1. We are all vounteers, we have no loyalty to any company. We review to get the information about our experience with the product out to you. We are not ALWAYS right.2. We will review anything and everything that a developer or vendor releases to us. Unlike other sites, we don't care if you don't want to advertise with us, we want to expose your product to all the flight simmers who enjoy AVSIM and may want to purchase a product. (or not)3. I offer a list of products available to the review staff in chronological order that I receiv…

While using Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 both on and off VATSIM, I discovered a need for somewhere to quickly jot down details about my flight for future reference. And after a bit of searching, I came across this. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DPVHBKHT This is an IFR logbook that solves the problem I just described above. It has space for everything I need to jot down, including basic information (departure, destination, callsign), ATISes (departure and arrival), Arrival briefings, squawk codes, cruise level changes, frequency changes, and similar. It really has increased the realism in my flights, and is so useful, particularly in high-traffic high-stress situations on …

I recently purchased a TCA Captain pack for Airbus, direct from Thrustmaster. Their website was nice, and the purchase straight forward. They delivered the wrong item, and its been a nightmare since. No human being to talk to, tried phoning the published UK number in the hours supposed to be open, spent 45 mins in queue with the answer machine telling me I was No1 in the queue, didn't change, hung up, tried again, same outcome. Slow customer response once you have jumped through the hoops and filled forms in online, I then had to send photos of the wrong item, upload them. Radio silence since. Terrible customer service. If anyone intends to purchase direct from …

I use the P3DV4 version of the Skysim's DC-9 and noticed that when the plane comes to a complete stop, a few orange safety cones will appear along with the wheel chocks. When I advance the throttle I notice that as soon as two knots, the safety cones disappear. Then when I coast to a stop, no brakes used, those cones will show. The MDL file shows those cones, so I guess they are baked in, but I would think that when the plane shuts down that those cones would then appear. Kinda strange and not realistic IMHO.

I was impressed with the program that Airline2sim were using. Anyone know what one it was please? Failing that, which one is the best, as far as you know?

I installed MSFS 4 months ago and have played about 500 hours on it now, enough to make some statements about it: The graphics and flight model are way more realistic than they were in FSX, yet the aircraft and scenery controls are enough like FSX that it's easy to get flying in MSFS in just an hour or two. The cockpit graphics for the instrument panels are light-years better than FSX instruments. But I have to temper this positive impression with some less-than-ideal aspects of MSFS: 1. There is no support for supersonic flight. The aerodynamic modeling seems to behave as if Mach 1 is an impenetrable wall. Even aircraft like the TBM or Cessna Citation, that should…

Thanks for the review mentioned above, I don´t have that airplane and will never have. But I want to thank Roger Curtiss for a very good review. I have read so many reviews of the FS add-ons which seems to be more like advertising. So many reviewers praises the products with out any negative comments. And when we buy them we find they are far from perfect. I have bought some products which are frenkly useless after reading those "This is stunning, developer has done real great job"- reviews. In a good review we (readers) get to know also the negative sides of the products. I hope other reviewers (in Avsim and else where) will do they job as Roger Curtiss did his!

Due to some limitation of the new Avsim Front Page the last few pages of the review was omitted. Here is the closing. So what do I think of the BayTower RV-7 and RV-7A? I think it is a fantastic add on. It has numerous outstanding features, many of them I found and highlighted in the review. It looks good, sounds good, has a nice solid feel, the panel has a clean layout with easy to read gauges and instruments. It is easy to fly and is predictable in its characteristics. I like it a lot. And did I mention it is fast? Yes, really fast, near 200 mph cruise and 64 mph stall speed with STOL capability with a solo pilot. It takes off and climbs like an elevator.…

A well-done review by Bert Pieke IMHO. I have a couple of issues with the Epic which he did not mention though. The passenger seat behind the co-pilot and facing the back has the Epic lettering reversed. You can see this when you hit the 'A' key two times and look at the top of the seat. The other problem is with the door opening/closing. When I first got this aircraft, I didn't see this problem but now it happens all the time and just with the Epic. When I hit the Shift+E keys to open the door, it opens then immediately shuts, then opens and immediately shuts like the function is running in a loop. I can't get it to stop no matter what I do. I tried using the icon…

Comment to: http://www.avsim.com/pages/0306/SR22/SR22.htm First, let me say that the SR-22 appears to be a fantastic, superbly designed aircraft simulation. I might find myself agreeing with everything the reviewer says about the product, had I actually had an opportunity to buckle in and fly it. Instead, I uninstalled it and am in the process of requesting a refund. Here's why: I have enjoyed a few of the more sophisticated aircraft sims on the market for the MSFS platform, and all of them have shipped with rather extensive documentation of on-board systems and avionics. This has always been helpful in understanding how to competently operate the airc…

I just want to say that your review regarding the Wilco Harrier was spot on! I also feel that one of the most unfortunate points of Wilco is their Support system. I must say that I've received a response to my support requests 97% of the time but it would come when I've all but completely forgotten that I even contacted them. I just don't believe they can be so 'large and busy' that they need 3 weeks or more to "review" the question after the submission has been placed. One more thing; In your "What's wrong with this picture" game, you overlooked the fact that the compass is mismarked as well as backwards. They have the 150 degree mark labeled "250". In fact, I tho…

I recently purchased the Lancair Legacy aircraft from Real Air Simulations and was having a problem with the installation ( turns out it was my fault after all) but I just wanted to express how good their customer service is. Rob from Real Air sent numerous emails to me to try and solve the installation problem. After two days, he solved the problem for me and he was determined to fix it. In this day and age, it's refreshing to find a small company that stands behind their product and stays with you until you are satisfied. By the way, their planes are great and probably the most realistic handling of any general aviation planes available. Tom palmer

I've recently bought the Lionheart Quest Kodiak and although the review by Jason McKee is now 5 years old I'd just like to take the time to thank him for his accuracy. I more or less bought the plane (an excellent bargain by the way) based on his review and it turned out to be a very fair assessment of the aircraft. I'm happily flying it around the Australian outback in P3D and FS Economy and it's well suited to the rough strips you find around those parts. As noted the sounds need beefing up but a small investment of around $10 will sort that out. Thanks again

http://forum.avsim.net/page/index.html/_/reviews/airbus-extreme-prologue-r562 Loved the review, but I'm assuming you've never flown the Wilco airbus product? It's not the fact that Blackbox is releasing an unfinished product for us to buy with a promise of finishing it that disturbs me, it's the fact that you're review was so good in pointing out their flaws that disturbs me. No pax or fuel loader? Even Wilco has one. No cold or dark mode? "FS9 like" VC? No thanks. I'll wait for the FSLabs machine. If it's anything like their concord people rave about it will be a thing of beauty. Thank you, Sir for the great review.

Hi folks,Just a quick follow-up. I completely forgot to provide a look at the package from the higher altitudes as I was engrossed in enjoying the VFR test flights. These are from a quick test flight this morning with then-current weather at FL250: And a quick flip over to night-time:I think it looks lovely from high altitude as well. It was quite a shock leaving PHNL to the east and turning around over Molokai to re-approach Oahu as the difference between the stock Molokai and RS Enhanced Oahu is stark. The night lights look great from altitude as well.Apologies for neglecting the jet-set. Have a happy holiday season!CheersTed**edit**The clouds are NOT stock. REXPlane a…

Hullo AVSIM, Do the reviewers take requests at all? Not sure if it's appropriate to ask... (If it is appropriate to ask, I'd love to see a review of the FlyJSim 727 for X-Plane 10. If it is inappropriate to ask, don't read the previous sentence.)

Hi guys, I am still a little new to AVSIM so please if this is not the place then please direct me to the proper place to ask. I have read as much recent review matierial on both so far as I could find. A friend of mine has REX but I think an earlier version. We were looking at it via skype today. THAT SAID, I would like such a program however the reviews I have read elsewhere say that Active Sky has less drop in FPS so I am leaning that direction. I am looking for something that will give me realistic weather. THANKS in advance.

I'm sure you know it but in any case if you don't, quite a few reviews (not the majority) cannot be accessed from tthat page (at least from my end). Last case in point was Anchorage X. http://forum.avsim.net/index.php?app=ccs&module=pages§ion=pages&id=19 Clicking the title brings back the message below. Looks like your files index went bust.
