  2. Very good review and a great explanation of the pros and cons when it comes to such a remote scenery project. Nice and informative screenshots. Indeed, that one guy does look chilly. B)I've bought it instantly and I think that a fast plane helps a lot when exploring. I also like the fact that Aerosoft took the step and released such an addon.

I'm not sure if it's the fact that AVSIM accepts commercial advertisements, which limits it's ability to tell the whole truth, or just a lack of the reviewer's "long term" testing, but you're reviews of any CaptainSim product fail to mention many undesireable qualities of this developer? I have purchased 3 products from them and I am COMPLETELY dissatisfied with every single one of them (all for FS9). It seems whenever the complaints of bugs and errors reach a certain level...we get the "CaptainSim has stopped developing for this aircraft and will no longer support it". After my 3 purchases, I have managed to break the code and can tell you what it REALLY means..."We made…

  4. Just wanted to say thanks a bunch Ray for going over that bird with such detail. Gives a much clearer picture of what it can do than what I could give on my own as one of the devs on it.

  5. Maury, Our FS world is just getting better and better each day. With SDK details available to the follow-on developers like Byran York these type add ons are totally seamless. Like you stated in your review, the voice in the cockpit and the switches being flipped and buttons being correctly pushed based on our own voice commands is just wonderful. I guess the next level will be to populate the seats. It would be so more realistic to look over and see a green-horn first officer picking his nose. With the hardware to upgrade a desk to a simulator cockpit being readily available and affordable, and the insane technical and visual achievements of PMDG and several othe…

  7. I know what I find important in a hardware reviews, but perhaps there are other things that I didn't think about. I'm writing a review on the Thrustmaster T.16000M, and have covered the design of the joystick, changing the handedness of the joystick, a very short piece on how to set it up. A piece is also included on how the joystick feels when actually used. I was wondering though if there's any additional things, or specific details that you'd want to know. If so, this is the time to bring it up

  8. Hello, Dudes! Here'll be pilots and other FS users in this forum. You all have listened that a Bhoja Airline's Boeing 737-200 has crashed in Islamabad. What do you say guys? What's your opinion about the incident? Pilots specially give their their opinions please. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-17788698 Regards,

I have been involved in Flight Sim for many years and all of the Hardware connected to my system has been Saitek The Saitek Switch Panel was not functioning properly and for the length of time I had it I thought it was due toi be replaced so what did I do I went and bought the VR Insight Multi Switch Panel, We all make mistakes and I feel it was a big mistake paying out good money for a panel that fails to function properly. I read the review and agree the Manual out of a score of 10 I would give it one TRhere is nothing in the manual that has heloped me get this hardware working. I sent off an Email to VR Insight trying to get the answers and all they mentioned wa…

Hello,Thanks for the review of MaastrichtX.Two addtions; the picture "Observation area atop the terminal?" is indeed a visitor platform. It is very nice since you have an excellent view on the airfield and it is close to the taxiway. When I visit with my 5 year old son, the pilots wave when passing by, especially the 747 freight pilots since you are at almost the same height. What is not mentioned, is that EHBK also is the home of Eurocontrol (Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre MUAC). I attached the picture of this important building for Europe's ATC.Regards,TT

The Flight Review was thorough and certainly covered all the main aspects. However, the tone was very biased and bordered on patronizing to many readers. Furthermore, the review takes a "knowing" tone that most newcomers won't understand. The review is good if the editor could have tone down the scolding language which belittles the opinions of some readers.

There are some changes made, I dont have the knowledge to judge the good/bad since I have zero experience flying the bird but, there were some discussions in the last couple of weeks about this controversial product and some of them don't have decent knowledge about FBW, and that IMO interests me in a way buying it. No I haven't applied Refund policy til now ;P..thus it deserves a fresh point of viewregards

Firstly, this type of aircraft doesn't personally interest me, and also I don't buy Wilco products, but that aside, I have to say, what an utterly superb AVSIM review this wasThe level of detail, layout, length, writing style, quality of images, etc really really surpassed most reviews we see these days, and I felt set the bar for AVSIM reviews.Superb job Drew. I found myself engrossed in a review of an aircraft that wouldn't normally interest me, because I just enjoyed the review and your findings so much.10/10Please do more reviews soon Drew, and Robert, this guy has exceptional talent so I hope to see him as a Senior Staff Reviewer soon!

  14. So, after reading the Avsim review in its entirety, Here's what I've learned.1. I can't fly from anywhere to anywhere. I can fly around Hawaii. There is no underlying model of the world. I can pay $20 to download more of Hawaii. 2. I have to hack a file to use my Saitek flight controls and I can only map to a few controls. And no differential brakes.3. Nobody will be able to write 3rd party mods for this environment. Only M$ DLC will be available.4. Nobody will be able to interface with the program whatsoever except through M$ DLC.5. Lots of promises about DLS. Sounds like Hope and Change to me.OK, so what this means for me is that M$ is giving me nothing and …

  16. Ted,Excellent review. I enjoyed all the details about all the details and the bonus coverage with the many great sceenshots. I have been flying the A2A J-3 Cub with Accusim for some months now and agree with the motto - 'No two flights are the same with Accusim'. As stated in your review this moves everything to yet an even higher level of FSX enjoyment. Scott and those 3d Professional modelers are really on to something good. I hope they can just keep improving on each new release. Pretty soon all the new add-ons will be in the stratosphere. Those new voices, unexpected unique sounds, multiple working flight crew members, and astounding attention to details adds so …

Thank you very much for an excellent review of REX 2.0.There were at least three instances in the review where the documentation, daytime textures, and user interface were mentioned as being suburban in origin. In future please reference the city name as well so that readers will know which surburban area the reviewer is referring to.Respectfully yours.

Not only has the author spend 101 hours on this model, he also took the dangerous approach of testing stalls and spins too, showing the readers how convincing the flight model on that little plane was rendered. So, while not avoiding any risk, I think Peter showed how it's done and also gave a nice perspective on that not cheap but well made bird. The only thing I (personally) can't agree in full is the 'Not too much performance impact' statement. But this of course is system and setting based and just doesn't reflect my experience, although the plane stays in the playable range of course. Just in case somebody missed that comprehensive and detailed read, go for it!

Rex does not cover land textures and never has. I suppose you mean airport textures as opposed to land textures.Land textures are forest, field, town etc. textures. It would be nice if you corrected that part of the review because I (and probably lots of other simmers) are just waiting for a land texture add-on besides GEX (Ground Environment Extreme) and REX is not it!

  23. I have been in contact with a chap called Rory Fairbairn, he has/will upload a bgl file to add to the Liverpool scenery which is specifically for VFR flying and shows the wind turbines in Liverpool and Morecambe Bays, plus those around the coast in Wales. All in all about 1200 turbines. I asked some time ago for if someone could do this as in the past there was one on the net for FS9, but where it disappered to I cant say only that it was and still is sadly missed by me and vfr flyers in that region, and he contacted me this week to say he had finally made one. It’s up on Avsim soon but I got the first dibs on it and it looks fantastic for FSX, just giving you the heads u…

Great review Rick! Just one note... I saw your one 'dislike' was the lack of custom hard surface textures at the airports. You also indicated in your review it uses too many default textures at the airports. I use FTX Aero from FTX/Orbx which allows you to use the default textures or custom textures produced by REX (you don't have to be an owner of REX) and in varying resolutions. Don't know if you were aware this was available from FTX. Again, kudos for your review. Lots of pictures and a thorough review.Best regards,Jim

You wrote about choosing between the MU-2 and PC-12. The PC-12 in x-plane, despite of beeing a payware, looks like a freeware, toy-ish and rough textures, for this plane I'll rather switch to FSX and fly the excellent Flight1 Pilatus. For what concern the MU-2 I think it's a marvel. Controling gauges and levers in 3D panel has never been so realistic before. Everything is modelled and in this case there is NO MU-2 like this in FSX...Thanks for reviewing anywayRV
