I notice in one of your screen shots there is a FedEx freighter parked at the gate. Is this a normal occurrence with the reviewed scenery?

In the second paragraph of the review you stated: Don't you think that's a short runway for airliner traffic? I think you meant to say 2900 meter runway which converts to 9514 feet. Re-read the chart. Runway 3/21 is 2900x45m.One other typo further into the review.

First of all, I think that was a very good review. Thanks for that! But, on one point, this review may confuse people. At the top, it says this aircraft is for FS9 and FSX, which is tru of course. However, you also say that the aicraft is updated to version 4.3, but this is only for the FSX version. The FS9 version still is at 2.1 and isn't going to be updated anymore. Can this maybe made clearer, for I'm sure there will be people reading this who don't own the aircraft and are not aware of this, or people who will have this aircraft may get confused.Other than that, great job, and I really liked how you also adressed general concerns and added in stuff like A2A Schockwave…

HiI just can't understand when you state the blackhawk flies pretty well. I've just tried it in FSX and i'm really disappointed as it is nearly uncontrollable. I guess that you just tested it in FS9, not FSX. This chopper is way below par, say the Aerosoft Navyhawk and Jayhawk, even though the skins are very pleasant to see.Unfortunately, this bird flies more like a drunk flying saucer .

Can the reviewer please clarify their comment on Carenado and turboprops. I am aware of none."if you like military aircraft in any way, the F/A-18E "Superbug" is a must-have, like the Level-D 767 is a must-have for airliner fans and Carenado is a legend for turboprop fans."

The PMDG MD11 product is, agreed, a masterpiece of software and simulation engineering, and I

I agree with the reviewer about the sound file. I believe turbine sound studios created a sound file for the kingair which sports twin P&W PT6 turboprop engines. This would be a better option if it could be converted to a single engine sound file.

FYI: Wilco VR review has the wrong link to the Wilco site, it should be: http://www.wilcopub.com/not www.wilcopublishing.com

I'll start off by saying I don't own this aircraft- for one HUGE reason. A reason that the reviewer neglected to say one word about. A reason MOST reviewers neglect to say one word about, here, there, and everywhere. This is NOT a real FSX addon. It was not compiled with the FSX compiler. It doesn't have good FPS in FSX (compared to a native aircraft). It doesn't work in DX10 (which was mentioned by the reviewer). It doesn't have features that true FSX addons have. These are all big deals now that FSX addon sales have exceeded FS9 sales. I'm truly puzzled as to why, after two years, developers who still fail to design true FSX products aren't being called out on …

Hi,Just to say, great review by David W-O.I bought this add-on about 2 months ago and have been really enjoying it. My thoughts and observations are very similar to Davids.Great value too, which is becomming more rare.My only question was around David's statement about the island of New Guinea being the second largest in the world. I find it hard to see how such a conclusion can be reached. Even if you take the 'continental' islands out of the equation (Australia and Greenland), the Arctic Canadian islands of Baffin, Ellesmere, and Victoria Island dwarf New Guinea. It's also important the remember that PNG spans far beyond the island of New Guinea. The provinces of New B…

Angelique van Campen's review of the Saitek Pro Flight Switch Panel is pretty much in line with reality as I personally experienced with, having purchased said panel from www.gogamer.com just after New Year's Day. GoGamer.com is one of two vendors on the Internet who offer this Panel markedly less than the average $99.99 encountered by other vendors, and being the incurable price-buyer that I am (which does have its drawbacks, to be described shortly), I went with GoGamer for my Panel. On arrival, Saitek's latest offering was very much like the rest: packaged neatly, attractively, with any and all hardware you could need for various manners of installation, a multi-languag…

Okay, perhaps it's lack of coffee (or carrot juice?), but am I blind?I've scrolled through the review list a few time and can not find this review.Any help? Thanks :(

Thanks for the wonderful review from Bert. I bought this addon early this year and found it (excessively) top heavy so switched to Alexander Metzger's AIR file instead, as I do with the default Cub and Cessna 172. The trim issues are also well known; this particular model is trim hungry! Using the original AIR file it handled like a model from X-Plane and would require a lot of trimming to stay straight and level. But once that has been achieved it flies really well, but it is highly sensitive to the trim used and any insufficient trim would tend to result in a nose dive, i.e. the aircraft would hardly oscillate about its vertical axis and there is too much momentum going …

Nice review. But I think you should re-think this statement:The G1000 system is just the default FSX G1000,...If that was the case then how come the FS9 version has the same G1000 panel? I don't think the panel included with the Epic LT is a default panel.

Just wanted to point out a couple factuals. The building from Ghostbusters wasn't a real building so it shouldn't be there if it is. But the screenshot didn't look like it to me anyway. The second point is that the Staten Island ferry does in fact only go to Staten Island. But there are a few different ferry services that are active around the island. But the high praise is definitely deserved. As a New Yorker, although I could nitpick on some small details, I found it overall to be very accurate.

I am contemplating the purchase of the MD-11 from PMDG. Two questions, for those who have it for FSX, what are your thoughts, is it really as good as advertised? Secondly, I went to the PDNG site to purchase it, put it into the cart and clicked "checkout, that resulted in a message, NO ITEMS IN CART. I was signed in, does anyone know why this would happen? Thanks

Good to see another review with comparative FPS figures quoted. This one is particularly interesting, because the Leonardo SH Maddog 2008 Professional has an almost direct competitor in the F1/Coolsky MD80 Professional. The Petraeus Index for the F1/Coolsky is 80, whereas that for the Leonardo, based on your measurements, is only 39. In other words the Leonardo airplane, although similar in function, actually runs at less than half the speed of the F1/Coolsky airplane. Quite possibly this because the latter was redeveloped for FSX, whereas, as you say, the former is ported from FS9.

Thank you Avsim for recently publishing another review on the Wilco Airbus Series. However both Airbus Vol 1 and Vol 2 like most complex software products have bugs and issues which need resolution.I have asked a number of times on the Developers forum (Feelthere) to clarify what bugs they still acknowlege to exist and what they intend to do about them. Each time I or other posters are refered to Wilco the publisher who also are unwilling ever to pass comment. Can I therefore ask either a representative from Wilco or Feelthere to actually state what there intentions are.At the moment I can only conclude they are a "hit and run" organisation - once the product hits the street…

Hello,I read this latest review on Avsim with interest and enjoyed the pictures showing this model in the environment of FSX.Especially those close-up shots showed the care, which was given to the details of this model. There is a saying, that one picture is worth more than 1.000 words.Well, in that case we got more than 7.000 words about the installer. And for an installation, which is described as "extremely simple" this is a little bit too much in my personal opinion. I believe, it is not necessary to depict in a product review of a helicopter model the installer with a number of pictures, which show us EULA pages and even a installation progress-bar, when the only vari…

Folks,I found the iFly 747-400 review today understated. This freeware is close to brilliant and compares favorably with other add-on's, some of which, as we know, are very expensive. I have even managed to get technical support by writing e-mail's to the developers directly. They have always answered me and have always been courteous and helpful. I cannot say that for other developers/forums.I agree the FMC needs work and more data in it, such as SIDS and STARS. That should not be all that diffficult and I hope the developers will make further enhancements to the FMS.She is a joy to fly by hand, resembles a "heavy" in terms of handling, is stable, and goes where you poi…

In the December review of the FSX version of this product I noticed an apparent reluctance to note any negatives. Call me a cynic but I don't believe any add-on is without flaws. But in this FS9 review we apparently have the opposite. Noting a negative of a missing weather radar. How can this be a feature one does not like about this product ? Its not even possibleto produce an accurate reproduction of such a thing in FS9. Its not a feature that is standard on otherproducts. Doesn't seem reasonable to expect PMDG to include it.Also why such a detailed review for a version that is essentially a port to FS9 of the FSX version of which Avsim has already provided an excellent a…

Hi there, I also have bought the new pmdg md-11 and it is without comprimise a thruly must have for all our simmers out there. Although reading the review I have to mention some serious comments. The zillion pages of documents lack important tables. For example there are no tables reffering to the flap settings, t.o. thrust derate temperature settings and even fuel burn of tables, wet runway v1, rotate v2 etc. Not even to mention the fuel planner, it's not in it. So if i'm plannign a flight I estimate my weights in the load manager, praying it will com close... And wait for the fmc to calculate the right amount of fuel needed for flight... Then back to the load manager cal…

Congratulations, Angelique, on the first AVSIM review to have really meaningful FPS figures. :( In other words, for relating the CLS 747 performance to that of the stock CRJ700, so we all have an idea of how it will perform on our systems.(Just a minor point of detail - the cockpit pictures in that section have been transposed - they don't correspond to the captions underneath)
