Is it just me, or is there something wrong with a number of the screenshots of UTX USA/Canada in the new review of UTX/GEX? It looks to me as if there might have been problems with the installation of UTX before GEX was added. The default FSX roads and coastlines are still visible in the UTX screenshots, causing lots of doubling of features. In the UTX/GEX screenshots, though, these problems are gone. Since GEX only provides replacement textures, it seems like something must have changed in the ordering of the scenery elements in the scenery.cfg file between the two sets of screenshots in order to explain the difference. For example, in these shots of San Francisco, …

Hi Angelique,Great review but OOPS! ....... you stated that Edinburgh was a town in Northern England. Edinburgh is in fact not in England; it is the capital of Scotland. You know how people can get offended and touchy about these things, (it's a bit like stating Rotterdam is in Belgium :) so I thought I'd point this out to you so it can be corrected in the review.Otherwise a good, detailed review.

I would like to comment on Mark Kolo's review, mostly on the procedures that he used during his "flights" to St.Barth's and Saba. The two airports are not closed but are restricted, meaning special training is required before pilots can arrive and depart from these aerodromes. As well, in the real world, Winair pilots would never go to 3500' to St.Barth's or Saba. The special procedures for St.Barths require aircraft to transit at 1000' or 1500' depending on direction of travel, and squawk 2000 for identification by radar services at Juliana. The charts for the french islands can be found athttp://www.sia.aviation-civile.gouv.fr/htm...eset_aip_uk.htmThe airspace between…

I sincerely want to thank Captain Mark Kolo for this excellent, informative and FUN review. I can honestly say that, until I got very close to the end, I really wasn't sure if what I was reading was fiction or 'for real'.I have read, and even written, a few reviews in my MANY years for flight simming, but this sets a new standard. I own the Aerosoft Twin Otter and will be purchasing the, soon to be released, St Maarten FSX package, and am looking forward to take my place in line on the taxi way right behind you Captain. In fact, I may consider applying for a job in the right seat of your aircraft at Win Air.Thank you again,Howard

Does anyone know how I could get in touch with Angelique for some questions regarding her tutorial on CLS's DC10-30-F? I've tried to track down her e-mail but haven't had any success. I'd appreciate any help with this.Jack [email protected]

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Cheyenne X review, Etienne Martin did a fantastic job. You know I love good stories with lots of good pertinent pictures ;).

Nice job on the review. One thing I'd like to add: The Alphasim MH-53J paint schemes will work on the CH-53A, so if you have both, you'll essentially have 9 paint schemes for the CH-53 (if you add them, of course). Unfortunetaly, it won't work the other way around since the tanks & refuel probe & radome wind up untextured.

Now that gentlemen is what is called a REVIEW!!!I have read many of them here and this one hits not only all the major points but is clear, very well organized and in depth. I cant tell you how many reveiws of photoscenery I have seen, yet I always have the same question -'what's it look like at the edge??' plus many others. Again, this one has all of them.Congratulations, an excellent jobp.s. I dont have FSX but I cant believe that Lake Mead (the larges man made lake in the world) can not be seen. That must be a glitch in the reviews default install.

Hi,nice review. Would have loved to get some information how its performing under FSX and with the HUD on but its ok.But what I'd like to say is that the video at the end of the review is not functional. Seems it was removed. I think its a nice idea to show aircrafts in videos like the short ones in the text. Would love to see the 3 minutes with the Mi-28.ByeTim

Could I point out that the name of Venice's LIPZ airport is Tessera - not Teressa as shown on the Avsim front page. The airport is named after (or for) the nearby village of Tessera, not Saint Teresa or any other lady of the same name. Petraeus

Re: Reviewed by: Chris Khiel AVSIM Contributing Reviewer - January 19, 2008Nice bit of writing, Chris, and yes, Carenado has another winner here.I waited a while before buying mine as I wanted to see what others were saying and what I'm hearing is all good and I'm pleased with my purchase. As a former realworld Mooney M20E owner and pilot I wish the Carenado's performance -- particularly at cruise -- mirrored its realworld counterpart more closely. One has to remember, the Mooney got its 201 designation because that is the true airspeed in statute miles-per-hour the machine will cruise at; this translates into 174 nautical miles-per-hour, which -- as you note in your review…

Although I'm logged in as 'Chock' I'm actually the Avsim reviewer who wrote the Shockwave P-40 review (Alan Bradbury), for some reason my proper log in doesn't want to work. Anyway, on to the point of this post, it should be noted that in my review I mention that the external fuel tank does not drop from the aircraft visually. While it is true that I could not get it to drop, either with the FSX keyboard command or the switch in the virtual cockpit, Shockwave have assured me that it can jettison using the VC switch. I actually couldn't get it to do so by either the method, but since Shockwave told me it can drop, it seems this may be a glitch on my system, so if that's th…

I've tried several times over the last two days to read the Vancouver Review posted on the front page, but I get absolutely nothing but an indication that the page is loading and has finished loading...then a white screen.I've tried this on three separate browsers and it's the same on each one.Cheers,BartCloud 9 F-4F Beta TeamAerosoft F-16 Beta Teamhttp://acquiry.com/picts/BartMig110_sml.jpg

Hello,I enjoyed this review especially as it was well-illustrated. I've often panned this product due to the excessive charges involved with obtaining world-wide coverage. It now turns out that you get world-wide access for a one-time fee. Way to go Jepp, I am a customer now.Which leads me to the question portion of my post: Why isn't your Jeppesen order immediately processed? The product is now a download and I've downloaded it and installed it. I have signed up with Jepp and paid my $42. When I try to logon to use the software, it says I'm not registered and that I should pay first. I go to "My Jeppesen" and look at my orders and it shows as "In Process." This …

The recent review of this scenery was well done. I had it in hand for a while, but hadn't installed it while waiting for my new system. Now its up and running, and I am using UTX-USA, FSG US and world mesh, Megascenery Honolulu X along with the Dillingham X product, and they all play together very nicely.Since PHDH is mainly a soaring field, I wsa interested in this apsect, but the review didn't look into it at all. So I began some experiments of my own. I haven't done any soaring before, and this looked like a good place to start. Actually, I first did the tutorial and race missions and then loaded up the default DG808S. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to look for…

Good Morning; Mark - I'm sorry - your comments about the Heinkel appear "mostly" to support AlphaSim's monotonously exaggerated advertising blurbs of yet another one of their dull, boring, lifeless, CFS3-style representations of another addition to the many venerable vintage and veteran aircraft in their stable. I think in only three areas are you right on: the flight model, which is good; the lack of installer - which is abysmal, the lack of documentation - ??????????????? - and then the price - U$45!!. If one needs to see real value for money in this genre of aircraft I would heartily recommend a comparison with MAAM-Sim's B25J Mitchell at $35, and almost any of Shockw…

Any chance of a review shortly?I am happy to put a mini review together when mine turns up.ThanksRoy Hinds - UK

Excellent review and I generally agree with the comments made. There are significant improvements over the FS9 version. However I think the panel and VC are still a disappointment. The 2D panel is looking it's age, and has not really improved over it's predecessor, 767PIC. The EFIS is clear and readable, but the graphics used are not very realistic. The position and angle of the windshield centre post is incorrect from the pilot's perspective. In the VC, my biggest criticism is that the pushbuttons and rotary controls are still all two dimensional. Compare this to PMDG 747 and the negative impact on immersive realism is quite large. It would affect frame-rates though,…

Good review but I would very much like to have had a screenshot and some more comments on the vc. Also how does version 2 differ from version 1 which is what I have got - in other words is it worth upgrading to version 2 if you have got version 1?Frog

It might have been useful to quote the resolution available in FS9 and FSX with this scenery package. Photo-realistic scenery has acquired something of a bad name because many only have the standard resolution of FS9, so at low altitude they are not at all convincing. The only relevant information in this particular review tended to confirm my worst fears: "My experience is when flying at around 6000-8000
