Hello everyone I thought I would start this link for everyone to list the times they can be available to race.I work a regular job Monday through Friday 0845 - 1645 EST Saturday and Sunday are usually free. I am able to check here while at work to find out what is going on. At best during the work week I will not be able to fly until about 1800 or so that allows me time to eat.

Hi, With all due respect:As you know there are only a couple of weeks to RTW09 Race start. As you probably also know, we are seeing quite a lot of problems with the forums. These problems include longs response time, failure to recognize logged in users - in general, the forums are really unstable. If these problems are not solved, we might end up having to abandon the use of this forum, or risk losing just because of the problems described. Are you in tech support trying to correct the problems, and what is the status?Thank you in advance,BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCKTeam AVSIM (and proud of it!)

New racers should make a post here to say hi, so we know who you are, and can give you access to the private forum. We would however also like you to do a practice leg before we grant you access, for you to show your commitment to the team. Just do a leg in one of the practice threads, it doesn't have to be a full 2 hour race leg, a short one will do just fine. You might also want to reply to your post in this thread with a link to the leg post, so that we don't miss it!Welcome to the team! :(Some important links:New Racer FAQOfficial Around the World Race website

This was part of a private question and my response - since it touches on race policy rather than exclusively team information - my response is posted for everyone to see.----------------------------------------------------- The unknown start point, unknown corridors, unknown bonuses, unknown requirements are a key element vital since the first race to make it interesting and a challenge. I think everyone agrees that running the same route year after year would be the death of the race.Mike, Matt, Ian and I work very hard and very long hours - some of us about 150-200+ hours each - to ensure there is not ONE fastest route around the world. Last year we had four near ide…

Hey Roman,(and et al. as this shows the importance of scouting ahead :( which I obviously didn't do :( :( )I guess the reason I couldn't find Coban / MGCB (besides the fact it was night): it is in a "pit." And there were buildings scattered on the length of the runway. Very bizarre. I tried to pop-up there with a new flight plan, but I was actually looking up at buildings and trees... as if the runway was "below ground." And when taking off, the aircraft crashed before rolling very far. I wonder if anyone else has this problem with FSX - MGCB. First time I have seen something like that.Weird about what happened to the comp too (the non-crash crash). At any rat…

I just noticed that AVSIM has made some changes, it is no longer possible to see this forum if you're not registered. If I remember correctly, the rules state that the forum must be viewable to the public, though I can't seem to find that rule right now. This might be a problem. Can anyone else confirm my suspicions?

Hi all,I see a lot of people have begun to attach small Google Earth pictures instead of the 'normal' Duenna simple graphic. With all due respect (AND with the rather poor forum performance in mind), wouldn't it be better to save some bandwidth by sticking with the old one?Just a thought...BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

Here's a couple of screenies from Saturdays practice. An animated GIF with Bry & I waiting for departure @MYAS as Mike comes in in a P-51. The single shot is myself (as wing) passing Bry on our way to KMXR. The aircraft are aliased to the closest model, not submodel or paint.

The purpose of this thread is to guide new racers into the world of the Around the World Race. Please feel free to add more information to the thread (and to notify me if I write anything wrong in this post :( ), but please don't ask questions in this thread, to keep it from becoming too cluttered. It is a work in progress. Much information and rules can be found on the official Around the World race website.

Hi GuysI have given myself a real treat (call it an early Christmas present): A new gaming computer - I'll post the specs later, but they're not too shabby....That means the my old rig will move down the line, and that one is big enough to support the same setup as last year.So unless something bad happens, we should have the same VPN as last year (24/7), without the security issues in Hamachi.I'll let you know of the progress.Merry Christmas to you all, BRGDSSven Sorensen, EKCH

What is the order in which to start a race leg. I would think that it would be as stated below1. Make sure everything is off that does not need to be on, such as automatic updates and such2. Start FS 3. Start up hamachi4. start multiplayer session5. Start up Team Speak6. Position air craft at starting point and make a flight plan.7. Start up the Duenna I am not sure at what point do you make your post that you have the baton and where do you make it at? Here or somewhere else?Do you have to wait until aircraft is at a gate before shutting down the Duenna and making the post that the baton is free. This is all a little foggy to me.Do you have to post your flight plan and i…

This will eventually be the Teamspeak broadcast server, but until then, Avsim Radio is now online! Running random music in my collection, will make every effort to have it online whenever I'm not using the computer for Flightsim or other games.. I may also move it all to my other computer so that it can stay running while gaming/simming, but need to plug in temporary hard drive and install Windows on it first....Point your Winamp or other shoutcast-capable music player to http://team-avsim.weirdnet.org:8058The playlist can now be viewed at http://avsimradio.no-ip.org:8888, and requests are online.DISCLAIMER: Some tracks do have bad language, not recommended for childre…
