The 2009 Flight Simulator Around the World Race has come and gone, and this year proved to be the closest finish in the history of the race. The race also acknowledged the 75th Anniversary of the MacRobertson London to Melbourne Air Race, and featured aircraft from that race on many legs. This video serves as a visual testimony of some of the sights that were captured by myself, my teammates at Team Flightsim, and participants in other teams as well. Enjoy!

I just wanted to say thank you all to team Avsim. I know it's a bit premature but I think that we've won. Regardless of the outcome it has been a blast and I had a great time. I am not sure if I can make it to the celebratory flight as I have ignored my famy quite a bit these few days.Anyway congrats to all for a wonderful race and welcome again to fs-mp. You guys did an incredible job and it was a pleasure to race against u guys.Cheers,

We have announced the final results for what was possibly the most exciting Around-the-World race ever.Standings are at www.fsrtwrace.com .Teams did an excellent job of flying and navigating and the margin of victory this time around was slimmer than ever before. The committee congratulates Team Avsim for a hard-fought and well-won victory, and all of the other teams for an especially well-run race. See you next year!Avsim,Well, you guys did it. Fantastic job in winning an extraordinarily hard-fought race. We had no idea it would be this close, or so well-done. You flew largely error-free and you flew extremely efficiently. We're all extraordinarily impressed, and can…

Terrific job, everyone! I was sorry I could't participate this year, but it was my father-in-law's birthday last Saturday, and the wife needed the PC on Sunday. I followed the progress from work this week and was with you in spirit. I'll be back next year, I hope.Cheers,Craig

Hello everyone,Is it too late to join up in the race? I have been following along so far and would like to maybe try to fly a leg or two later on. I have the next couple of days off so maybe I can help out in times of lower demand. Or maye something else I can help out with...Running FS2004 on a relatively fresh reinstall so right now only default aircraft, but I do have a number of payware that I can install and use too (Flight1 PC12, FeelThere Caravan, MAAM-SIM DC3, PMDG B1900D are probably the most appropriate).I downloaded and set up the FSDuenna on my system... flew a really quick test leg here's the results just to make sure everything validated.I was thinking th…

We have opened up significantly the various GA aircraft which pilots can fly for the Kickoff Event and the GA Team Flight. Gents, I am assuming that the "Race/Tracker Id" setting in Duenna/settings will change for the '09 race. When/where will this be posted? And one more question, when shall we activate this account? ( probably self explanitory ) It's just that I noticed other teams had dedicated practice tracking ID's prior to the start of '09 race. Our 2008 tracking page looks like spaghetti :( TIARegardsRoman

Fellow AVSIM team members. I am sorry to say that I will have to withdraw from this years race. The problem? A new member of the family who has never touched FS on a computer is really "pooching" up all my flights. I mean, My GOSH, if I had to deal with a co-pilot like this............ She's complaing about my EGT if it's off more than 5 degrees. On approach, she's right in my face! I tell her to go back into the cabin as we're doing a go-around, " Get out of my way Sam! get some left-overs or something!"! Because of this problem, and the fact as the company's "Employee Manual" say's that inter-cockpit misrelations result in re-assignment means that I will have to withd…
