I learned something good this week. NEVER volunteer to do a flight plan unless you have a clear idea what you intend to do! My first thought was the Florida Keys (jokes about Ernest Hemingway/Joe's bar/etc. I took a trip down some of them and it was abysmal. It will probably be fine when NA LC comes out. Ooh! I know how's about continuing on from the Caribbean trip by making our way along the South American coast. Yeuch! Scenery is third world and add-on airports are worse. In desperation (it's now Wednesday and panic is setting in) Sardinia and Corsica! EU LC and although the add-on airports are thin on the ground, what there are aren't too much hassle. So …

  4. Catchy title huh? Flight plan and narrative SkyVector You have to trust me when I say I really did try to do an interesting, educational and witty narrative. I failed miserably. :( This has served to heighten my respect for Jeff and Mike who churn out such brilliant stuff week after week. Bless you boys. Say what? My recommendations for the scenery are Orbx Global, Orbx EU_LC (really makes a difference) and Orbx Vector. All combine to make an 'almost' full fat region out of the whole of Europe.(I did ask JV for some commission but he told me to get stuffed! ) Oh yes, aircraft. I'm going to use the RealAir Legacy as there are…

I've uncovered what may be the reason for our (Jeff and I) OOMs tonight. If it was the fault of my paints this could be the answer. I've reoptimised the textures so that A: They are a LOT smaller and B: They are sharp even when using 1024 MTL HERE's the link. These are all the paints affected. Subsequent paints (should there be any) will not be a problem. Sorry for the hassle. :(

We begin at the principal airport on the Shetlands, Sumburgh (EGPB). We first head away from the main islands to visit two remote outcrops, Fair Isle (EGEF) and Foula (FOA). Next stop is the small island of Papa Stour (PSV), before we return to the main island and Scatsta (EGPM). We then continue to the most northerly airport in the UK at Unst (EGPW). Turning back south, the route then takes us to another group of small islands with correspondingly small airstrips, Fetlar (FEA), the Outer Skerries (OUK) and Whalsay (EGEH).…

Pago Pago. Orbx's new scenery will be out soon. This will give us two options. 1: A quick flight from one airport to the other airport, or..2: Hours and hours of gazing at water till we make landfall. Sound good?

Just looking ahead. On our RTWR Casual Flight agenda lies a tour of Norway. Many will already own the Orbx Norway region. Others will have no interest. However, for those on the fence, it is worth noting that Orbx is having a 37% off sale until the end of May. In current US Dollars, here are the prices. Norway: USD$24.81 In addition, for those who have developed a taste for the northwest, the following prices might be tempting: Pacific Fjords: USD$14.87 Southern Alaska: USD$20.35 All are on sale at the FlightSim Store here: http://www.flightsimstore.com/ --M

  18. Here is a way to change the stock FSX camera setup so that when using the multiplayer cameras a spot view is created vs. in cockpit/VC. EDIT - This is for pure FSX MP sessions. If using FS Host sessions the same type of camera is already provided via the AI view menu, no mods needed. I tried to get both a VC and a spot view to be used during MP sessions. More experimentation may be needed but I doubt it will work because the camera is instance created using the aircraft container. (FSX closed) 1. Locate the Cameras.cfg in C:\Users\USER_NAME \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX 2. Backup Cameras.cfg if wanted. (stock code vs. new is below) 3. Open up Cameras.…

Should anyone like to fly online on a Wednesday I propose running the server from 19.00 UDT. What I had in mind was a 'Pick an airfield, any airfield, pick a heading, any heading and see what we come across. We could make stipulations as to aircraft type, distance between airports, types of airports (grass only, Municipal, international etc.) Anyway, the server will be up next Wednesday whatever happens. Real weather, current season, so some of you will have to purchase Opus Teamspeak=RTW server.

  25. Around the world -- Over this weekend I spent many long hours shuttling freight across the pacific in 748s of between 6 - 8 hours and interested in longer 12 - 16 hour flights. That peaked interest in how I could maximize endurance for an around the world flight with very minimal refuel stops. Anyone have interest?
