...for the return of those RTWR heroes, I have cobbled together a flight as a consolation. NCA trip starting at A30 Scott Valley (because that's where the dart landed) taking in various little burgs (passing over Crater Lake) along the way to 77S Hobby.(Very, very nice airport from Orbx if you haven't got it. Very, very nice airport if you do have it) Twelve stops altogether, longest leg 38nm, shortest 13nm, total distance 212nm. All the runways are sensible! Flight plan Kick off = Usual time. Aircraft = Run what ya brung, but don't go sodding off into the distance! Fly as a group. I'll probably use a Cherky.

Time to begin RTWR Practice. The practice legs should conform to the general rules, leg length (<750nm), time (< 2hrs), white list aircraft, real world weather. You can chose whatever time of day suites you but it is good to do some night flying. Fly whatever aircraft you intend to fly in the race. Do the full leg documentation. Baton claim post with aircraft declaration and origin - destination airport. Baton release post with Duenna & txt file. Pilots may fly consecutive legs if the baton has been idle for at least one hour. -Start airport is KMRY, Monterey California -End airport is FACT, Capetown, South Africa Suggested rout…

A quick reminder about selecting Racing Committee Members. Wednesday deadline. As the Race begins early on Saturday (or late Friday for North Americans), we have little time remaining. So it would be best if teams might select their members and inform the Committee by (Wednesday). That would give the Racing Committee only one day organize themselves and set their schedules. Names can be sent to Rob, Ed, or Eamonn via PM in the respective forums (Mike has limited time to collect info this week) And, given the short time involved, it might be helpful if each team might select at least one member who has previously served on the Racing Committee. (We appreciate the value …

It's that time of year once again! Assuming that the race will go on as usual in 2016, it's time to start recruiting and practicing for the annual 'Round The World Rally. The 'Round The World Rally is a race around the virtual world, run in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The forums at Avsim, FlightSim.com and Sim-Outhouse.com each form a team to fly a virtual baton completely around the world. The race is run completely in real time, and is usually flown in legs of up to two hours. The team that completes their flight with the fastest overall time (after bonuses/penalties) takes home the coveted Tornado Trophy. The race is traditionally held the first weekend…

As the title says, we have released the Special Rules for the 2016 running of the Round the World Race. For consistency they are available to all teams and interested persons at: http://www.fsrtwrace.com/#rules The White List and Team Flight Appendices are also available. These only have minor editorial changes to include the latest data (as already posted). While it is hoped that the Rules are clear and straightforward, a FAQ document will be available on the Race Site in the next couple of days. There should be no conflicts or surprises Have fun planning and racing! Rob for the Executive Committee

RTWR Jetliner Team Practice 3 – Sunday 7 Feb, 1900 UTC This practice session starts at Anchorage International and proceeds down the coast of Southeast Alaska before heading inland to British Columbia and finishes at Spokane Felts Field. The legs are short (100nm) so that we can focus practice time on climb, descent, and landing phase of flight. While it should be daylight when we start, Alaska is known for its bad weather so some approaches and landings may be challenging as terrain will be a factor at several airports. While flying fast is good, completing the leg safely is as important. All team members are encouraged to participate in this sessi…

Around and among the Southern Alps Mountains. NZQN,Orbx does a lovely job! First stop Glenorchy(NZGY Alt: 1255ft 2018 grass(keep an eye out for sheep.)) we can either go straight there over the mountains or take the scenic route around Lake Wakatipu. There are a couple of unlisted strips on the way if you can find them NZ153 on the right and NZ154 on the left. From Glenorchy we'll have to wend our way to NZ155. This strip isn't shown on Plan G so I've given a 'thereabouts' on the flight plan. After repairs to undercarriages and bent props, another 'wend' to Milford Sound(NZMF Orbx strikes again!) Alt: 846ft 2598 bitumen). Head up the sound from Milford towards the o…

RTWR Team Practice 2 – Sunday 31 Jan, 1900 UTC This practice session starts on the North Cape of Norway and features darkness, short runways, terrain, and possibly bad weather. In other words, just the kind of conditions we are likely to have to cope with in the RTWR. While flying fast is good, completing the leg safely is as important. All team members are encouraged to participate in this session. Any new race team members should make an effort to participate, as this session will provide an excellent opportunity to meet your fellow teammates and experience what the race is like. As discussed this evening. These are the KB~s I have uninstalled and hidden. I forget which one sorted out the UI problem. Most of them were W10 update nags, but none of them seem to be missed by W7 KB2670838 KB2952664 KB2990214 KB3021917 KB3035583 KB2977759 KB2996978 KB3022345 KB3044374 KB3068708 KB3086255 KB3075249 KB3080149

Good Morning, Last night I was hit with several people claiming the graphics or maps in the Duenna do not work. In V0.891 of the Duenna (John Mueller's original) the map does not display but the graphic does. in V2.0 of the Duenna (my update to allow FSX:SE and P3D) the graphic doesn't generate at all. The problem is Google actually, you see John's original Duenna used version 1 of the google maps static api which was deprecated in 2009 and completely turned off last night. When you try to generate a map this is the return. The reason V2 of the Duenna also doesn't work is that I didn't actually modify much of John's original code, the reason n…

Its that time of the year again and the race is set to begin on or about the 20th of February, I want to gauge the interest in the race from the 3 teams. To that end, does Team AVSIM believe they will be able to participate in this years race and have enough pilots to be able to compete? 10 pilots I believe are the recommended minimum however it has been done with less, its entirely up to you. NOTE: I am not speaking for the race committee, just trying to help wherever I can. Thanks,

Firstly my apologies to Bryan, Leon and anyone else that had connection problems last night. I've spent the best part of today (I couldn't even get to church) running down the problem. Starting with various other aircraft known to be 'good' including the default C172, I tried to connect to my FSopenised server. Booted unceremoniously on every occasion. Hurumph! Rebooted the router-nah. Long story short... ESTONIA MIGRATION TOOL! :t0115: Uninstalled it and all is now as it should be. Fired off a support email to Estonia and a covering one to SimMarket. In between the first line and the last line of this post there was much copying, pasting deleting, renaming o…
