Rocky Mountain Racing For Wednesday, May 5, 2021 Outrageous! Unbelievable! Ridiculous! Fun! Everyone has their own opinions about the Got Gravel Vertigo. Watch Bob Patey shoehorn a PT6A into an ultralight JMB VL3 and you have tremendous power that simply overwhelms the little airframe. Not so good for delicate flying. Great for raw racing. Today we fly from Aspen Colorado (KASE) and enjoy a few hours meandering around the nearby mountains to enjoy the view...all at about 380kts. The idea is to capture some of the thrills of early cross-country racing. A Mille Miglia of the air. We start at, and return to, Aspen to complete the southern circuit. Then pause for mainte…

The next leg to Myeik (VYME) is the first of five crisscross legs over the Malay Peninsula moving generally southward. We will land at six airports on the Andaman Sea and three on the Gulf of Thailand. If we make it to the last airport in the plan – Langkawi (WMKL) we will reach Malaysia. I will be flying the Aermacchi MB339 in the Royal Malaysian Air Force livery (a default paint). …

We explore the city of Paris with some of its attractions and the surrounding area. We depart from Prunay (LFQA). We reach the city of Reims with the Cathedral. After about 30 miles we land at Courmelles (LFJS). 12 miles west we visit the Chateau de Pierrefonds and continue to our next landing at Glisy (LFAY). The next attraction is the city of Amiens with the Cathedral. We turn south and land at Tillé (LFOB). After another 32 miles, we land at Le Plessis-Belleville (LFPP). This stop is a good opportunity to change your settings in case you encounter problems before we head towards the very busy area of Paris. In case of problems we could switch to another, less freq…

At the moment Asobo has changed multiplayer in a way that makes our normal operations unworkable. For some pilots, the stutters are so bad that flying in the group is impossible. In our experiments after the last flight, we (Norm & Jeff & I) tested the hunch that the problem lies in a pilot's not having the liveries used by other pilots in the multiplayer session. Norm was so afflicted by Jeff and my non-default paints. Once Jeff and I switched to the default paints, Norm was AOK. Having everyone fly in default aircraft and default paints seems a poor solution. So our thought was that we revert to our previous practice of informing each other about our aircraft…

The flight starts at Filton (EGTG) in Bristol – now disused and being built over, but it has been kindly reinstated by Asobo. Looking to the northwest after takeoff you will see two large bridges over the estuary of the River Severn. Head towards the southernmost of these; if you have the addon scenery it’s safe for underflight. After inspecting the underside head to the waypoint inland marking the start of the Avon Gorge, which you will want to be well down inside to pass under the Clifton Suspension Bridge (yes, you can). Continue along the river and look to the left as you exit the gorge to see Bristol city centre. Leaving Bristol to the south we get to our first …

Where to start? Helsinki, that'll do. Then where? To be discovered. Some of course will find out before Wednesday, others will hold their breaths. The trip will be 360ish nm long with about several stops along the way. There will be ample opportunity to purchase shed loads of duty free booze at our destination. Aircraft, probably a Bonanza. As I recall most airports will have runways that will accommodate bigger, hairier craft. Your choice. Flight plan: HERE MFS Server: East USA Roll call 18:45BST for 19:00 wheels up. That'll be all. Dismiss.

Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way EIKY-EIDL For Saturday, April 17, 2021 Today we spend an afternoon flying up the west coast of Ireland. This route is part of the "Wild Atlantic Way," a name for Ireland's 1500 miles of rugged coastline along the Atlantic Ocean. This is a land of promontories, cliffs, dunes, beaches, bogs, bays, and coves. In normal conditions, the winds bluster, the sea sprays, and the clouds race over the sky. A fine place for light plane fun. We begin at Kerry [EIKY], a small regional airport for commercial and GA operations. Built for passenger service, the airport now provides connections to Dublin as well as Berlin and Manchester (and, p…

South Korea – Counterclockwise We fly around the Korean Peninsula and visit 10 destinations in South Korea. 25 million people, around half of the country's population of more than 51 million people, live in the Seoul Capital Area, the fifth-largest metropolitan area in the world. After World War II, Korea was divided into two zones; a northern zone occupied by the Soviet Union and a southern zone occupied by the United States. After negotiations on reunification failed, the latter became the Republic of Korea in August 1948 while the former became North Korea. In 1950, a North Korean invasion began the Korean War, which saw extensive U.S. intervention …

I know, I know, the real G-OBAK was/is a TurboArrow. Different cowling at the very minimum. Trouble is I was too far along before I notice it. (Insert DOH here) But I thought to heck with it. This plane has been done for XP11 and FSX. This is it's debut in MSF. Available on my Mediafire HERE or on AVSIM Library soon. To those that got a preview, nothing changed

This time it Portugal, in case you're unaware, it where the port comes from. In fact it's only made in the Douro Valley which we be passing on our way to Vila Real. Exciting eh? This is a bottle of port: Flight is 355 nm so don't chose anything too sluggish. I think I might give the Aeromacchi MB339 a spin. Oo, weather. 🤣 Time: What is sunset in Portugal? Just looked it up. 20:00 so kick off at 16:00 local? Sound good. The rest is old hat; Particulars Date and time: April 3rd, 2021, 1800 UTC. (I'm really at a loss as to what time zone but I'm going to turn up at 6:45 UK time. You can consult your own oracle) Where: AVSIM RTWR …

This is just an early announcement that Wednesday March24's flight will start at CYCD, Nanaimo airport, land at CAM3, a very challenging airstrip at the side of a gravel quarry, and continue across the Juan de Fuca Strait into northern Wahington state. Through the Alps and Up the West Coast. NZQN-NZWN. (For March 13, 2021) This is a reprise of a previous flight through New Zealand's Southern Alps and up the West Coast of the South Island. We shall use jet fighter trainers to go low through the valleys and near the mountain peaks as fast as our airframes and engines and airmanship allow. The route should provide great fun in all our simulators: FSX-P3D-MFS. We begin our day at Queenstown Airport [NZQN], the popular South Island resort city. Take a second to look up to the southeast to see an imposing sight: The Remarkables. We depart over Lake Wakatipu [WAKATIPU], passing Queenstown on the northern side of …

The French Alps - France-Italy The French Alps are the portions of the Alps mountain range that stand within France, located in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions. While some of the ranges of the French Alps are entirely in France, others, such as the Mont Blanc massif, are shared with Switzerland and Italy. So this is a VFR French Alps exploration excursion. I have never been here, not even in the sim but looks like a interesting trip. We'll travel through some of the mountains, then low and slow in valleys, along rivers, marking natural as well as man-made landmarks. We depart from LFLS Alpes-Isère Airport Grenobl…
