Today we visit a couple of small and even smaller airstrips in New Zealand. All of them are in the southern part of New Zealand's North Island. We depart from Wellington (NZWN) and follow a clockwise route, ending at Pencarrow Head (NZ4Q). There are twelve landings enroute, most of them small grass fields. These fields are to my knowledge not included in the MSFS database. We land at Ohariu Farm (NZ4N), Ohariu (NZ4P), Ohariu Valley (NZ4M), Belmont Airstrip (NZ4L), and Battle Hill Station (NZ4G). The next landings are at the default airports of Paraparaumu (NZPP), and Masterton (NZMS). Then we are back to the smaller airstrips. We land at Parsons Landing …

Fjord Norway For Saturday, July 3, 2021 Today we visit Norway's "tourist magnet" region...the fjords of Western Norway. We begin offshore at Alesund to visit some of the coastal islands and fjords and then climb over the Jostedal Glacier, dip down to part of the Sognefjord before flying overland and then down the Hardangerfjord to Bergen. We depart from Alesund Vigro [ENAL] to fly over the island town and fishing harbor [ALSND] before darting down the Hjorundfjord (perhaps the most beautiful of the not-packed-with-tourists fjords). We land at Hovden [ENOV]. Then out to the rugged coast to Floro [ENFL] which has grown this century as both a regional airport and a he…

Propliners over the Atacama The tour starts in Chile at Antofagasta (SCFA) on the Pacific coast and has one stop at Calma (SCCF). The final leg will require climbing to 20,000 and finding a safe route across the 112 mile long chain of stratovolcanoes east of San Pedro de Altacama. Our destination Salta (SASA) is at 4,044 feet and will require some descent planning. Flightplan: Here. Aircraft: This route was planned as a challenge for the Douglas DC-6 pilots, but as always you are free to fly what you like. The first leg is pretty straight forward but the leg from Calma (SCCF) to Salta (SASA) will require managing climb and cruise to 20,00…

The Alps: Germany-Austria-Switzerland – Excursion 1 The Alps are the highest and most extensive mountain range system that lies entirely in Europe, stretching approximately 1,200 km (750 mi) across eight Alpine countries (from west to east): France, Switzerland, Monaco, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia. There is a lot to cover in these scenic areas and will try to travel much of the Alps in a series of excursions: this being the initial voyage into the Alps. Pictured: Overlooking Locarno from Monte Tamaro Summit We are departing Friedrichshafen (EDNY) Airport in Germany and we’ll end this first Alps excursion in Lugano, Swit…

Some Royal Homes of Denmark - and more points of interest We depart from Esbjerg (EKEB), first we head for the coast and then turn inland. The first landing will be at Billund (EKBI). The town is the home of the Lego interacting blocks. We turn east, cross over the Small Belt and land at Odense's Hans-Christian-Anderson airport (EKOD). We fly south and visit Egeskov Castle. The next landing is at Sulkendrup (EKNO). The airfield is really hard to find. I added a further waypoint at the arrival end of runway 27. We cross the Large Belt and admire the bridge before we land at Korsör (EKKO). Again, this landing is very hard to spot, I added a waypoint at…

As usual, I've just 'joined the dots' so I've not idea what we'll find. Aircraft selection? I'll leave that to you but I think I'll give one of those hairy a**ed Ggravel things a whirl. South Florida and the Keys We'll start at Key West (KEYW) and follow US1 towards the mainland, passing the Seven Mile Bridge, Marathon and Key Largo, making stops at the few landing strips in the Keys. We then head into the Miami metropolitan area for some signtseeing, and make our way up the coast past the many resorts. I've picked out a few interesting looking landing places, so let's go and see what's there. If we make good time we might get as far as a tour of Cape Canaveral, finishing at Space Coast Regional airport (KTIX). Flight plans Download here. Aircraft We want to cruise around 140kts. I'll be in the Piaggio P.149D. As …

PNG Western Highlands For Saturday, May 29, 2021 NOTAM. This flight is designed for MFS: it employs airstrips that are in MFS but are not in FSX-P3D. We have for a year created Saturday flights that are suitable for both MFS and FSX-P3D. But our current group of pilots are all in MFS now. And it has been quite a while since our FSX-P3D-only colleagues have participated. If you are a FSX-P3D pilot and want to fly with the group, please let us know and we'll immediately go back to a hybrid FSX-P3D-MFS design even if that limits what we can do. Good friends are far more important than any other considerations. This is the second of two planned excursions in Papua New Gui…
