We will depart from Aviano (LIPA) in the northeast of Italy. Only 30 miles southwest is Istrana (LIPS), our first landing. We continue west and land at Ghedi (LIPL). About 40 miles southwest is Piacenza (LIMS), the now-closed Italian Air Force base. Now we have a longer leg. We head south along the coast and land at Grosseto (LIRS). Depending on our progress and on which airplanes are chosen, we may have to skip the next landing at Gioia del Colle (LIBV) and head directly to Grazzanise (LIRM), the Air Base just north of Naples.
