Australia Red Zig-Zag (Part 1) In 2017 we planned a route across Australia that crossed the red center, and in 2020 we crossed Australia again in the opposite direction and further south. Those flights were done in P3D. I am ready to give this crossing thing another go – this time in MSFS. This will be another multipart flight. It will likely take four or five sessions to complete the entire route. We will start where we finished our last Australia flight last month - the mining center of Kalgoorlie (YPKG). The route will proceed in a north easterly direction with numerous zigs and zags for 1900nm until reaching Milingimbi Airport (YMGB) – just off the mainland …

Grand Gulch & Monument Valley In April my brother went West for his annual backpack trip. This year their destination was Grand Gulch. He left me his itinerary which included a detailed description of the route Grand Gulch III, Kane to Collins 11/15 | 50 years of walking (wordpress.com) After reading the account I was inspired to plan a flighsim tour of this area. Our journey will start from Hite (UT03) proceeding south then east passing Natural Bridges Monument and Bears Ears before heading to Kane Gulch Ranger Station – the starting point of my brother’s hike. We follow the GG (Grand Gulch) waypoints down the canyon as Grand Gulch cuts its way into Ceda…

PNG Revisiting Kokoda and Tapini For Saturday, April 29, 2023 Michael MacKuen Here is a salute to Tim Harris and Ken Hall, whose extraordinary sceneries popularized PNG aviation for our community. We shall fly from Port Moresby over the Kokoda Track and then up over the mountains to the Tapini region. This will certainly be bush-flying in high terrain. But unlike some other remote villages on the island who have just recently established regular connections with the outside world, these Central Province communities have enjoyed air service for nearly fifty years. On our return to the area, we shall fly in MFS and take advantage of the current World Update 13 which i…

The Colca Canyon is a canyon of the Colca River in southern Peru, located about 160 kilometers (99 mi) northwest of Arequipa. With a depth of about 1000 - 2000 m (3300 - 6600 ft) (whereas the bottom is at ca 2000 m and edges are at 3000 - 4000 meters above the sea level), it is one of the deepest canyons in the world. Its length is about 70 kilometers (43 mi). The Colca Valley is a colorful Andean valley with pre-Inca-rooted inhabitants, and towns founded in Spanish colonial times, still inhabited by people of the Collagua and the Cabana cultures. Today we will visit two of the Mascarene Islands, Mauritius, and Réunion. During our first flight, we will visit Mauritius. Owing to its geographic location and centuries of colonialism, the people of Mauritius are highly diverse in ethnicity, culture, language, and faith. It is the only country in Africa where Hinduism is the most practiced religion. Indo-Mauritians make up the bulk of the population with significant Creole, Sino-Mauritian, and Franco-Mauritian minorities. The island's government is closely modeled on the Westminster parliamentary system and Mauritius is highly ranked for economic and political freedom along with being the only African country …
