I was wondering if someone could paint a livery for the flight1 C421? The liver is the yellow air taxi which fly out of south florida to the Bahamas. I'm only a beginner painter, and normally paint over other repaints, adding my own colors/text etc, this is all done on the background layer, so say I select a stripe to be colored, I just get the magic wand, select the stripe, then floodfill whatever color I fancy Lately i've tried layers, but as soon as I add a layer, i've lost the ability to use the magic wand, as it just selects the whole layer.I thought layers were supposed to be easier? I can't figure out how, guess i'm missing something, but what?Any help, thanks

Wondering if someone that has done Flight1 repaints using their paintkits can lend a hand.I received a blank paintkit in .psd format, did the repaint and saved it as .bmp along with the alpha file. When the person runs the Textomtatic application on it, it compresses the entire .bmp file onto the top of the wings.. everything, tail, fuselage etc is all on the top of the wings.What do I have to do to get the file to work with Textomatic?

Hello all, not sure if this is the place to ask, but I have a request. I was wondering if anyone could paint a livery on the flight1 cessna 150 for me. Being in the military hasn't really afforded me the time to learn how to do this myself, otherwise I wouldn't be asking. There's one picture of this aircraft on airliners.net, and I have a few snapshots I took of it this summer. It doesn't have to be super-accurate, just fairly close. This aircraft is the one I got my first lesson in, so it has a special place in my heart. Thanks!

I am trying to do my first paint. I have managed the tail for the moment, but am still not sure about the fuselage area. Why is it that the paintkit only has one PSD file, but the actual FS model textures are divided into three? How can I save into three separate DXT3 files with the correct proportions? Note, I am not asking about converting from PSD to BMP to DXT3, as I know how to do this; I am just not sure how to divide the main fuselage textures given in PSD file to the required four (F1_B732_F1_T, F1_B732_F2_T, F1_B732_F3_T.bmp, F1_B732_F4_T). Gday allHave just finished my first repaint, however I am having trouble with the jagged appearance of some lines. The top of the red stripe is particularly bad, having a pronounced staircase appearance.Repaints were done on the Gimp (v2.2.11)using a number of layers. All lines were constructed by stroked paths or by using select area from a path. The mode was RGB (not indexed), and the image was converted to DXT3 format.I thought it might be an antialias issue, however that box was checked when I stroked the paths. I've had a play with filters and checked the preferences, but still to no avail.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,Can anyone give me some direction. I recently have tried my hand at repainting. Opening & altering just text on a 737 paint named United freindship which shows up as Boeing 737-200 kittyhawk in the aircraft selection menu.I was able to open the fuselage-T BMP and alter it. However, I could not open the interior views and others, (with the pilots). I have tried at least six programs which can work with BMP's but still not able to open that file or several others. I could view it with DXT.BMP.Through one of the forums I thought I learned that I must use Paint Shop or another advanced editor to open certain type BMP files. Im currently attempting my first repaint, basicly putting pirate flags on a black cessna. only problem is, now that the plane is black, the tail numbers dont show up, is there a way to change the tail numbers so that they come out white? or do i need to just paint them on in paintshop?

I've been using PSP for a number of years but I've never ventured into the realm of layers. I was wondering if someone in our community that uses PSP and layers might give me a "quick 'n dirty" on using layers to paint aircraft.Take me from opening a DXT3 paint-kit "t" file (white texture set) to the completed paint job (not everything - just layering). It doesn't have to be too elaborate. I'm using Paintshop Pro and I have a paint kit for the C172. My problem is, when I add lettering to the left side of the fuselage rear template{ this paint kit only shows the left side} the letters are reversed on the right side. Is there a solution someone would be willing to share with a beginner please? Thank you for your time.

I understand a little of what goes on here but have not been able to find answers to a couple of questions:The 8 bit alpha channel controls how "shiny" a color is (I know it can also do other stuff but the plane I am working with that is the effect)1. How many different levels of "shineyness" are there? is it 256?2. I am working with DXT3 but what would DXT5 do for me?3. I am having problems making a deep red color be shiny and keep its deep red color; it seems to become pale and "washy" when I apply the alpha channel.The reason for question 1 is that before I work my way down the greyscale from 200,200,200 to 255,255,255 am I wasting my time? perhaps only 8 levels of "sh…

I,m doing a re-paint of a Blackhawk using the paint kit from hovercontrol.com. It's all done no problem using photoshop to paint the textures and BMP them then Dxtbmp to convert them to extended as well as apply an alpha channel to the black areas. The only thing is the window areas are completely clear, which looks a bit odd as if there's no glass. Previewing the transparency in Dxtbmp shows the alpha areas completely clear, straight through to the white/grey checkerboard. when I compare it to the standard Blackhawk ( using FS repaint as a viewer ) it has tinted transparent windows, 5% black or something similar.http://www.hobra.net/hc-images/tinted.jpgNotice how on the …

Hi!I have made my first repaint on the 737 PIC.The livery is Falcon Air from Sweden.The problem: Sometimes the plane texture gets all blurry.I have created the texture in Photoshop CS and then converted the BMP to all kinds of format, DX3, DX1(no alpha), 32-bit, 16-bit...But no luck.What am I doing wrong?Please help.

When I tried to repaint the default 737 in my VA's colors it worked out perfectly, except only one side of the fuselage shows the whole name. The other side shows up as a backwards version of just the first letter of what I typed, not the whole name. Am I doing something wrong? Is this usual? Thanks in advance for any help.
