An early morning flight in the Beech Duke from KFHR in the San Juan Islands (Washington state, USA) , to CAT4, situated on the Georgia Strait, British Columbia I don't make it to Canada very often, but I found some exceptional freeware at the usual place for CAT4 (along with others like CYCD if you want to explore that area) Enjoy this flight with nice views in the stunning Black Square Grand Duke (stunning livery by TimHH) Somewhat of a marine layer/mist in the early morning here.... it makes for a lovely view I think! Leveling off at 2,500, we'll pull the power back to about 75%, the duke is still quite fast 🙂 We h…

The proximity of Lake Powell, the Marble Canyon then the Grand Canyon and the Monument Valley make this KPGA (Page Municipal airport, AZ) one of my favorite place for GA flights. New NOTAM's and construction have slightly change the airfield with new 16/34 runway and closure of 17/25. A great opportunity to update (and fixes for MSFS2024) my freeware MSFS2020/24 scenery.

This week, I was reading a bit about the Boeing 777X which is going to be the latest, largest, and most efficient wide-body, twin-engine jet in the (iconic) Boeing 777 family. The 777X is currently going through the certification process, persevering to overcome the recent hurdles and setbacks, and looking for introduction into service in 2027. The 777X program, despite facing delays, already has significant orders, with Emirates being the largest customer (270 jets as of Nov 2025) and other airlines like Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Lufthansa also holding large orders, totaling over 500 for both passenger and freighter versions. Recent significant activity in…

I wished today to test the latest MSFS2024 SU4 Update (v1.6.34.0) with the default (Asobo/WT) Boeing 787-10. And regarding this flight, for reference and background, I wish to point out, here, one of my recent posts, where I'd replicated the longest stint in the air, so far, of my entire life...from Chicago O'Hare in the U.S. (non-stop) to India's (capital) city of New Delhi (see that post, if you wish). It was in an American Airlines 777, so, in that post, I'd simulated a (RW) B777 flight of Air India (since AA no longer flies this non-stop route); strictly adhering to the (RW) route between KORD/Chicago and VIDP/New Delhi. My own (RW) flight, flown more than …

Today, when I opened my Xbox, I found the installation of the (much-anticipated) MSFS2024 SU4 Update already on-going, and it then took just a couple of more minutes to finish. After verifying in the Xbox (Games) App, that it was indeed Version 1.6.32.0 (ready to stream); I then tested this latest Update with a short 200 miles flight across Norway (see MSFS EFB Map below), west-to-east, from the coastal city of Bergen Airport (ENBR), at the western edge of the country, to Oslo Airport (ENGM) in the capital city, located on the eastern side. On my route, I overflew the snow-ridden (southern) range of the larger Scandinavian Mountains. With this SU4, I could not help n…

I had made a few livery mods of the default DA62 for 2024. These colors are based on the actual color panel provided by Diamond. My livery pack is at the place. Since red is my favorite I decided to fly the Ruby Red paint from KHWV (about half way up Long Island New York) to KBID (Block Island, RI) Brookhaven has some really nice freeware too Ruby Red is just beautiful! Looking south at Mastic Beach I had jokingly enabled Garmin Pathways for our short VFR flight... pretty amazing tech though! Looking towards Eastport and Westhampton Calverton Airpark (private I guess - long runway!) Passing Gabr…

Is there a way we can get an option to upload screenshots directly to Avsim? Flickr is no longer a viable option, not to mention, the old HDSimulations account was deleted without any warning.

In my previous post, as I'd replicated the longest ~ (18-19) hours (RW) flight of my life, to date...🙂..., I had alluded to the Black Sea. It was because, not only in that ultra-haul (virtual) flight, from my hometown airport (Chicago O'Hare), flying eastward to (far off) Asia (to the city of New Delhi, India), I'd overflown the southern edges of Black Sea (see that post, if you wish); but also I had mentioned there that, from my past such (RW) long-haul flights (either eastward or westward), I would clearly recall overflying the Black Sea. It would be sometimes in the night time and in total darkness; cruising high at 35,000 to 40,000 ft altitudes, as I would be (gingerl…

Taking advantage of this long holiday weekend, I simulated today what I recall as probably the longest time I was ever afloat in the air, travelling in an AA 777. I've been meaning to do it for a while but never got to it. In my life, there was a period of a couple of decades, I considered myself the consummate (and seasoned) long-haul air-traveler. 8–10-hour flights, across the oceans and lands, were most common (departing from my local airport, Chicago, O'Hare, to destinations in the east and far-east) with typically one layover in Europe (mostly in Frankfurt). But I can also recall a couple of ultra-haul flights lasting 16 hours or more. One, I especially cannot f…

Today, I was intrigued by a small (Swiss) airport scenery in the MSFS2024 Marketplace, of (LSFR) Frutigen Airfield 1967, with the following description: "The perfect place to begin your Alpine expedition! From here, the flight takes less than 10 minutes to reach the 13,000 ft peaks of the Bernese Alps and the longest alpine glacier, the Aletsch Glacier! Frutigen is also an ideal base for glacier flights. This scenery contains the military airport from Frutigen in its 1967 shape. Built during WWII, attempts to use it with fast jets in the 1950s were not fruitful (the runway is only 3,000ft) so it remained in use by air transport units (which operated among other …

Today, I picked up a couple of airports, on SALE, from the Marketplace: One in Brazil and the other in Switzerland. Here is the post (and flight) for the airport in Brazil (prepare for a long name...🙂..., as is typical in South America), Vitória–Eurico de Aguiar Salles International Airport (SBVT), serving the city of Vitória, Brazil. Vitória, a beautiful coastal city, surrounded by sea on all sides, is actually situated on an island adjacent to the Atlantic Ocean and Vitória's Bay. The many (low) mountains of the mainland are just a short distance away (see images below). Moreover, the city is located at the mouth of several rivers that flow into the Vitória's Bay …

I took out the 1-day Free Trial version of the Project Crosskart (by GOT FRIENDS) ...equipped with the raw power of the Hayabusa 1300cc engine...for a quick spin around the (local) KORD (O'Hare) premises...while putting my (new) cockpit (crew) recruit ...🙂...in charge of this transport... "Project Crosskart" website says: "Walking on foot is fun - driving is faster! With MSFS 2024’s stunning ground-level detail and access to the entire planet, Project Crosskart is the perfect way to explore the world at full throttle. From rugged trails to hidden backroads, go wherever the terrain takes you - no runway required." Oh well...it's not too bad...🙂... Hope …

Due to some (logistical) complications for direct delivery to my door, today I had to pick up my first ever on-line order of some wine...🙂...at a (nearby) local business facility, designated as an authorized shipping location for this (on-line) wine vendor. Anyway, the first bottle of wine in the set of 4, that caught my attention was, "2020 Alain Jaume Terrasses de Montmirail Gigondas". Gigondas is a French wine Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) in the southern Rhône wine region of France. As I sipped this wine, I also read the Winemaker's notes about the Gigondas wine, "Deep red garnet color. Aromas typical for Grenache with ripe black fruit, blackberry. A powe…

I'm flying the Black Square Pro A36 TC from AeroDesign's KMHT (northwest of Boston) to Dream Flight's Providence, RI (KPVD). There are clouds but it looks to be good enough for VFR so I'll cruise at 8500 as we are heading slightly west of south. It's a short trip (approx 45 min) and we'll do around 175 ktas. We'll also get flight following and generally plan to remain outside the Boston Class Bravo airspace. The only sunny spot today I think hehe Manchester, NH - home to over 100k humans - a really nice destination from anywhere, the airport has multiple instrument approaches and two runways the longest being over 9000 ft Look at me...…

As usual...🙂..., I got triggered for this post today by a couple of (apparently) dis-connected events (of place and plane). I visited a local mall this week, far from the (Chicago) suburb I live in (an unusual event itself). There were times a decade or so ago, pre-Covid, when I would often visit the (local) malls (those large enclosed (indoors) ones); in the early weekend mornings and especially in the dead of winter...🙂...carrying my Apple Watch and a Pedometer (you know, the devices that can calculate distance, steps, speed, duration and the gamut for your outing, with pre-programmed input of personal data such as stride length, height, and weight etc....which data, th…

A year has now passed since MSFS2024 was released, though my own 1-year anniversary of it is today, November 20...since... I'd jumped into the fray (without any concern for my own safety) ...🙂...the day after that tumultuous first day of release. Anyway, this (PMDG) 737-600 (my most beloved 737 variant...🙂...though this variant was widely considered the "black sheep of the 737 family"...🙂...i.e., the one that didn't make the successful cut with global airline operators), still remains in my MSFS2024 File Library marked with the un-welcoming label of "MSFS2020 - Unverified", whatever that means (see my shot #2 below). Please note that this "Unverified" label is disti…
