Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.

  2. Flying in formation around England just after lunch time. Today`s weather was a bit cloudy and cold, typically winter time.

  3. I've always loved birds...🙂...I eagerly await the arrival of all kinds of colorful birds around here in Illinois, at the start of Spring season, and likewise I feel a touch of sadness to see (most of) these birds disappear in winter as they migrate to warmer climates of the south, as already has happened here by this time. So, out of curiosity, I recently picked up a FS BIRDS add-on from the marketplace, that I've been eyeing for some time...🙂...It's published by South Oak Co, and their website proclaims: "Birds for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024 have arrived! Stay tuned for rollout releases as we work towards covering the entire world!" Sounds good …

  11. Today, in the MSFS2024 Marketplace, I caught sight of this (1-day) Free Trial Latécoère 28; the classic (French) long-distance monoplane of the 1930s, simulated by Red Wing Simulations. This is a fascinating airplane that I recall well from my earliest times in the hobby, thanks to freeware (FSX) versions available in the library. So, naturally, it piqued my interest, especially after my last post, where I just flew the Air France A320, because there is a connection between Latécoère and Air France. During Latécoère's operating life, it became the main-stay of Air France's predecessor, Aéropostale, which heavily used this a/c to establish intercontinental air-mail service…

  12. Started by andy1252,

Inspired by the progress with P3D, I'm now back experimenting with FSX. I seem to have ended up with FSX/SE left on my system, although I do have the plain FSX dvds to hand as well, but I have the vague memory that the Steam version was a bit easier to live with, so that's what I'm working on. Just spent a couple of days playing with this. I have of course got all the original Orbx stuff available to me, and I've put all the global and regional stuff back on. Airports I may not bother with so much, although some of the smaller country strips might be worth checking out. Initial impressions were disappointing, and I was having problems with what I figured out in the …

  14. This is a post, I've been thinking about, since a long while...🙂...In my previous post, I'd explored a bit into the background history of the Boeing 737 (see also Andy1252's recent posts about the classic, original, and extremely rare B737-100 variant), that had initiated the modern era of twinjet (short-haul) commercial service in the world. Then, naturally, my thoughts drifted to the Airbus A320 type, the other short-haul twinjet, that (ubiquitously) dominates the global (commercial) aviation scene today, along with the B737. I'd mentioned Joe Sutter and Brien Wygle, as a couple of visionaries and test pilots, from the Boeing side, who helped shape the creation an…

  15. Started by andy1252,

And here's the other really big reason I put my P3Ds back up - This is an FSX airplane but seems to be happy enough in P3D v5 (if a teensy bit skittish). My v5 system not set up properly yet, but I'll probably carry on and do so if this beastie can run in it.

  16. OK, so not installed into, but symbolically linked from v4, here's the 737-Stubby in P3Dv5. Seems to be ok but I did have to remove one of the effects files (smoke.fx) as it seemed to generate about 100 feet below the aircraft. Still making my mind up about v5 generally. The atmopherics are definitely better than v4 but are a bit too blue hazey for my taste. Might be able to mess around with that I guess. Three shots out of Orbx's LOWI A winter shot up the Hudson from NYC And a milder day over the Bay Area One thing P3D never did convince with for me was water. Even on max settings, still looks unconvincing. But the experimen…

  18. One last flurry of B737 shots in P3D. Out of EGLL, across True Earth GB and Netherlands, and in to EHAM. EGLL is Aerosoft but EHAM is native. Neither are particularly wonderful but I'm not looking for great airports in this restoration project. It's about the aircraft, and as decent a ground layer as I can get to fly over. Even the True Earth loses its shine a bit if you get too close, MSFS really has knocked everything else sideways as far as real up close and personal goes. But hey, that's the beauty of simming. Storage is not expensive and I've got loads of spare capacity anyway, so I can load up all the sims I want really. And it really is huge fun going back in to th…

  23. Well, I knew I'd weaken but I did hold out a day longer than I expected. I am having so much fun (and a lot of frustration, I'll admit) getting this P3d system set up again. Love this stubby little 737 - she's a real looker. Put Orbx's Germany on to the sim and am finding myself reasonably happy with the results. If I want to get down to rooftop height I can do that in MSFS or XP, but as long as I stay a little bit higher here it is perfectly fine. Finding all sorts of gems in my hangar as well, so lots of exploration to come. Just a quick three shots then -

  24. Yesterday, I happened to watch a re-run of the 1967 Dustin Hoffman film The Graduate...🙂...on one of those (numerous) movie channels on today's (smart) TVs that someone in the family likes to subscribe, unauthorized...🙂...for 7-day-free trials. I'm told it's free, but it's not really free because here is one more thing for me to remember to un-subscribe after a week...🙂...Oh well...The film opens with an iconic scene where the (said) actor, actually ~30 years-old then, but portraying a (dashing) 21-year-old recent college graduate in the film, is seen seated on an airplane, supposedly returning from Europe back home to KLAX airport. The airplane, AI tells me, was a B707, …

  25. Started by andy1252,

A few initial shots from my experimental re-installation of my old P3D systems, which I thought I'd try purely to use some of those older aircraft that I don't expect to see coming to MSFS any time soon (or ever). Not my usual 4k hi-res shots as I'm also experimenting with image hosting now that imgur has gone from the UK. One of my all time faves first - This beastie is out of EGMC, my "home town" (well, childhood town, anyway) and I do remember seeing them there And yes, I do have one of these for MSFS but I like this version better An Airfix moment And another major favourite. I would dearly love to see this done for MSFS…
