The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

Flying Tiger Line used to handle military transports. Dad was a young Marine stationed in Germany. My mom was there also. Around 1962 they flew from Germany to the US on an FTL Constellation. Also on board was my older brother who was a baby. I wasn't born for a couple of more years.

It's always lot more fascinating to be roaming (and exploring) in foreign countries, from the comfort of our virtual world. I am no stranger to digging deep into aviation themes centered in distant lands and rooted in distant memories, visited IRL or not...! Sometimes, we have maybe visited places nearby there, but wish to find more about places we never got to visit. In my pastime here, in my past SIMs, I've posted about Canadian themes and Airlines (e.g., CP Air comes distinctly to mind) and bits and pieces of their history. Here is a story, I have been meaning to do since the FSX days, but never got to it. To be honest, my (RW) exposure to the (neighbor) country up nor…

Whenever I see a Lockheed Constellation (as in a member post here this week), or hear about this a/c, I think of one TWA Constellation I had a chance to visit, many years ago, in the Airline History Museum on the campus of the Downtown Airport in Kansas City, Missouri. This particular Constellation (an L-1049 Super Constellation) was apparently saved from imminent scrapping by the local Save-a-Connie, Inc. organization, then moved to the Museum and fully restored by the local volunteers and former TWA employees (TWA was the spirit behind and also the launch customer of the type in 1945). I'd been meaning to visit that Museum since a long time. So, one fine (very) early we…

For our flight from Ushuaia to Phoenix Field on Ross Island, we are using our good old Transall in a livery in the colors of the British Antarctic Survey (they don’t use the C-160 in rl, but I think it looks pretty good). The skin is based on the real livery of the BAS Twin Otter, which is used in the Arctic. Despite the (fictitious) additional tanks, we will have to refuel twice. Let the adventure begin. The Beagle Channel always looks impressive Of course we had to fly past Cap Horn The north-western foothills of Antarctica. It's quite impressive what MSFS offers us in this respect But that also exists:…

Hi all, now it seems that my new joystick will arrive end of next week, I will see. So I have modified a few keys only in XP11 just to fly a bit. This here is from a little flight in the beautiful valley between Bolzano and Trento in northern Italy. All freeware scenery and aircraft. Thank you very much for viewing! Cheers Andreas

As many already know very well, different LOD settings matter. But changing them "on the fly" has until recently not been possible. AutoFPS enables this by dynamically changing TLOD+OLOD, in order to maintain a target FPS. With the right settings in the app, and the right hardware, it is possible to get higher than default TLOD + OLOD. Default is limited to TLOD max 400 and OLOD max 200. And remember: TLOD has a huge impact on CPU load (and probably VRAM), OLOD to a much lesser extent. As I've spent quite some time with this excellent app, I've been able to experiment a great deal with different settings. I'll take this opportunity to demonstrate different TL…

For me it is always a pleasure to use the sim to repeat real travels, in this case a hike I did 2 months ago. It would officially (and by helicopter) start from the Cradle Mountain Visitor Center. If you enter the National Park before the bus shuttles start, you may even drive by car towards Ronny Creek parking. You see the cars below... ... and the start signs here. Just for your orientation: We follow the Overland track until Crater Lake... Then it gets hard, the warning signs are no joke. Slightly easier in a helicopter... ... to get to Marions Lookout. The easiest part is walking over the high …

Here is another of my "Getting to know River XYZ..."...🙂...and bits of Geography Lesson via MSFS (for myself too). I am particularly curious about World Rivers that are not so well-known outside of their countries. I might have heard about them, but always curious to know a bit more. So, here we go. We all know of the famous Nile River of Africa, longest in Africa, and arguably the longest river in the world (running toe-to-toe with the other famous river, Amazon of South America). Nile may have originated near Kenya Border (Lake Victoria) with 11 countries sharing its water, but my subject, here, is the forceful and furious (Kenya's) Tana River that's wholly contained wi…

[This post is partially triggered by Bernd's post about Bella Bella and Port Hardy.] Now, please raise your hands if you like mountains...🙂...? OK, it is (perfectly) fine if you don't, but I am going to tell you about a mountain curiously named "Stupendous", so, please read on, if you're interested. First, however, I must say that my only (and limited) RW experience with Pacific Northwest (PNW), includes 2 visits to Seattle and a road-trip from Seattle to Vancouver via (a traffic-ridden and congested) Interstate Highway 5 on a (rainy) weekend, plus a day around Vancouver Island, hardly enough time to appreciate the splendor of this region. Maybe, instead of the roadway…
