The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum

Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here.  Please follow image posting rules (below).  Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).

Screenshot Image Posting Rules

  • Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own.  See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
  • Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
  • Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
  • No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
  • AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
  • Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

  2. I've been messing around in Florida and the Keys a bit lately. The colours and light there show up brilliantly in MSFS (although I'm not sure that Orbx's True Earth with XP is not still my favourite version of the Keys), even if some of the PG is a little off in places. I also spotted a bit of scenery on flightsim.to called "Illuminati Island" (https://flightsim.to/file/73700/tight-lz-s-illuminati-base ) which is a complete fantasy setup on one of the real Keys in the Dry Tortugas national park, Loggerhead Key. In real life, there is a lighthouse there and that's about it, but this scenery is really quite spectacular, if a little weird in places (more on that in a minute)…

Today I'm flying from Great Inagua in the Bahamas to Great Harbour Cay on Berry Island. Berry Island is part of a bow-shaped chain of thirty large and numerous small cays about thirty-two miles long. The islands are located south of Great Abaco, a popular yachting destination, and about forty miles north-northwest of Nassau. The island has a large salt extraction plant, Morton Salt Crystal Factory The island, one of hundreds here, is called Long Island, the airport is Deadman's Cay Above Exuma. Sandals Emerald Golf Course is one of the best in the Caribbea…

  5. As if to prove that reality can be sometimes just as weird as the imaginary world, a couple of nautical miles east from the Illuminati fantasy island, actually Loggerhead Key, is Fort Jefferson, on Garden Key. According to Wiki this is the largest brick masonry structure in the western hemisphere with 16 million bricks. All of which would have had to be ferried in by boat, of course. Construction started in 1847 but it was never completed. And personally, I have to ask "what were they thinking?" There's no major anchorage for a fleet of warships, you can't protect much from a fixed location that any approaching enemy can just sail around out of range, and there's not even…

  6. I'd recently posted bits about TWA and United. The United post was about an upcoming (domestic) flight of mine where I am, as of now, scheduled to travel, to my pleasant surprise, on the (old gold) 757-300 (I didn't know United still operates the 757). I'd also noted on my post that though that would be my first 757 flight with United, I do recall having flown domestically on Delta's 757s on a few occasions. I looked up just now the 757 fleet of United and Delta. United has 61 757s in its current fleet (plus 99 historic), while Delta has 125 in its current fleet (plus 80 historic), both massive operators of the type, in the world. Anyway, United has been my major in…

  11. In my previous post, I'd travelled the (legendary...🙂...) coast-to-coast route, symbolizing Canada's first ever Atlantic-to-Pacific (overland) flight, from Halifax to Vancouver. I had overflown (in a B748) high above, the vast (so-called) Central Plains of Canada, nearly 1,000 miles across the region west of Winnipeg, aiming myself (I mean requesting my FMS) directly to the apex of the highest of the Canadian Rockies, Mount Robson. You might also recall that one of the significant segments of that coast-to-coast (original) flight was between the cities of Winnipeg and Calgary. So, once you get to Calgary, only then you would have to face the high Rockies to further west. …

Today I want to watch penguins. But first I have to go to the coast to the Casey settlement What I like is that many people and vehicles are animated. You can even hear the engines Instead of the noisy helicopter, I prefer to approach the penguins by motorboat Throwing stones seems to be fun And I enjoy navigating between the ice floes at over 30 knots We have reached our destination. If you look closely, you can already spot penguins on the ridge above the bow Thanks for viewing

just one quick edit from a fortuitous grab -

  20. I just booked a flight with United, not online (but via a very nice UA Agent...good to talk to humans rather than computers...once in a while...🙂...), from my hometown Chicago Airport (the one in O'Hare, aka: ORD) to Orlando (MCO), to be flown in about a month's time. This is at the invitation of a local family in Florida. I would be hosted and chauffeured, so, I just need to still get a one (or two) day pass for the Disney World. I have not been there in ages, and wild rides for myself being now things of long past...maybe a leisurely stroll in the Epcot Center is what I'm most looking forward to. I have some fond memories of my decade-and-half ago visit to Epcot, such a…

Went to file a few screenies, and got distracted looking at some old shots. Thought I'd post some of them here as a reminder of some old faces that haven't reappeared (yet?) for MSFS. When MSFS first came out I did convert a few older aircraft but not all were successful and most of the ones that were initially ended up u/s after a few MSFS updates. Not a big deal, got way more than I can reasonably use in the hangar now anyway, but there's always room for more! I'll start with one of my real all-time favourite aircraft. Had a couple of trips to the SAS museum at Omaha to see this beaut, and still got a couple of plastic model kits I bought there sitting around …

  25. So here I am in the seemingly much maligned LVFR A340 (poor, poor, gullible me - sing along now!) arriving at SamScene's ZJSY. I like the A340, though even I will admit the fuselage textures leave something to be desired, and am happy to have it. ZJSY is also not one of SamScene's finest moments, and a lot of the ground imagery around here is pretty bad, but that may well be MSFS itself. Anyway, overall an enjoyable experience. This A340 will be getting out and about a bit on my system in the next few days. So here's a few shots for y'all - enjoy or sneer according to your tastes, I don't mind either way. A cockpit shot to start with, but I went and changed the…
