The AVSIM Screen Shots Forum
Have a favorite screen shot of your simulator that you would like to share? You can by posting it here. Please follow image posting rules (below). Images must be hosted on an image hosting website. Please use prefixes to identify the simulator you are using (see pinned topic for guidance). Please include information about the screenshot(s) such as location (flight plan?), the aircraft, weather engine, scenery (i.e., Orbx/FTX, GEX, FSDT, FlightBeam, FlyTampa, etc.).
Screenshot Image Posting Rules
- Images must be hosted on your own image server site, such as Drop Box, Google Drive, Photobucket.com, OZx Image Hosting, or a website that you own. See guidance at following link - http://www.avsim.com/topic/479802-how-do-i-post-a-screenshot/
- Images can be of any size; however, be considerate of your fellow AVSIM members as large photos will take longer to load for some members who do not have fast Internet connections.
- Images will automatically be resized to fit the viewer's screen width. This process is done automatically by the AVSIM website program.
- No more than 20 images per thread (topic). Moderators will remove any image that exceed this requirement.
- AVSIM members are reminded of the AVSIM Terms of Service in respect to images, and copyrighted and intellectual property. Images that violate our policies regarding copyrights and family safe environment will be removed and, depending on the severity of violation, user suspended or banned from AVSIM.
- Images copyrighted on other websites such as Airliners.net are not allowed and will be removed immediately.

A while ago, I'd purchased several airport sceneries from the Xbox/Marketplace (on SALE for $1.99 each), one of which was KCRQ (McClellan–Palomar Airport); see my first shot below. KCRQ is located just inland of California's Pacific coastline, and about 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Beginning just northwest of this airport, extend the Santa Ana Mountains, northward for about 60 miles, towards Los Angeles. Today, while wishing to fly out of (and into) this (KCRQ) airport, my thoughts somehow wandered to the California based novels of Nobel Laureate, John Steinbeck, one of my most favorite authors. The legacy of Stenbeck's literature centered around the valleys, count…

I'm not exactly sure how this (default freeware) Asobo/iniBuilds A320neo V2 (in my Xbox system) is different from the earlier Asobo version, but I've meaning it to give this V2 a try, so, I did it today. It looks like the EFB is one major difference, however, I could not get the EFB to work properly today, neither could I upload the SimBrief FlightPlan (it could be pilot issues...🙂...). I will look into it again later... Otherwise, on a test circuit flight, including a takeoff and an (ILS) touchdown, the plane behaved well. And, at least, unlike my iniBuilds A310, I could capture some screenshots (to show you) ...🙂...without losing complete control of the a/c...…

I picked up the H130 (EC130) from CowanSim earlier today for about 30 USD. This is probably their best helo yet, though I also enjoyed the R66 (made a paint for it recently). Startup is simple enough with the FADEC engine, and the sounds are quite good which surprised me. The visuals are maybe just a notch below Carenado but not much, the modelling is excellent. The flight model is reasonable - I found it tricky to takeoff and land on a helipad, but otherwise enroute it was wonderful to fly. What's really nice is there are a lot of panel/gps options. You can get an analog panel with round gauges, with the GNS or GTNs (PMS/TDS), and also the new WT G3X panel with sta…

This time the 747-100 is not ported from FSX, but from FSLTL. As always, the rest is from MSFS. Of course, this is not for the purist, but I can also fly the older birds this way. And the 741, especially with the PanAm livery, just looks good. What's more, many moons ago I crossed the pond in one of these PanAm planes. Shortly after 5 o'clock in the morning, the sun is slowly rising Just over an hour later, we are ready to leave Dubai Already pretty busy at this time of the day No wonder they plan to build an even larger airport So…

Just put the 7.6.2 version of the map replacement tool on my system and went to check it out. To be honest, I'm not sure I can see that much of a difference now that I compare these shots with my previous "Red Arrows over Torquay" grabs. I was impressed at first but when I went to compare the two sets I'm now not really sure how much improvement there is or isn't. I'll leave it in place for now though, as it doesn't seem to be causing any problems. Thought I'd use the Red Arrows again. Tried to get the smoke trails to work but nothing seemed to happen when I tried them. I may have to read the manual, heaven forfend. Brief trip down the coast to Plymouth, and when I g…

The two most important rivers originating from within the heart of Swiss Alps (like arteries) are Rhine and Rhône (contributing life-sustaining blood-like flow to major parts of Europe). They have been also an integral part of the local legends and myths since the Roman times. Though their sources are located in two different (so-called) cantons of Switzerland, within 50 miles of each other; curiously and sensibly, they quickly bid farewell to (and part ways from) each other, heading out in (totally) opposite directions. We have to realize that this region contains some of the densest parts of the entire Alps. In other words, escape routes there (for newborn rivers) are h…

Pilots and afficionados of aircraft often come up with nicknames for aircraft (because either they love them or maybe they hate them...🙂...). Either way these nicknames resemble the namesake aircraft in some characteristics (or should we say idiosyncrasies), by look or trait. A long while ago, inside the O'Hare Terminal, as I was walking down the concourse and past the gates, towards my own departure gate, and wanting to know the Gate No. of my flight (since the information was not listed on my Ticket or probably the gate was changed for some reason), I happened to ask a staff member of the same airline, walking from the opposite direction. He took a look at my Ticket, an…

A while ago, I'd recreated here in the SIM, reminiscences of one of my longest (RW) road-trips, from Chicago to New Orleans (I'd thought it was my longest drive, but someone...🙂...corrected me...with slightly better long-term memory). The distances between 2 cities are calculated and displayed for us on-line, probably using some fixed references within each city, not necessarily the geographical centers of the two cities. When I search on-line for "Chicago to New Orleans Distance", it comes up with "928" miles. However, I remember the door-to-door distance was closer to 1,000 miles one-way. Now, with an upcoming ORD-MCO flight on the wing for me, deliberations within the …

I'm taking the piston Duke on a 300 mile flight from KMKJ airport in Virginia, to KHXD in South Carolina. The route line is just slightly west of south so I filed FL280 to take advantage of some winds aloft. Normally I'd fly this between the high teens and low 20's. But we have supplemental O2 onboard so we'll be fine. So, this weekend just gone was the Torquay Air Show. This has been going for a long while now, and usually has the Red Arrows doing their thing and for the last few years, the Typhoon making sure "Nessun Dorma". Once upon a time we got a good view from our balcony/patio, as we are on the top of a hill overlooking the bay, but over the years we've planted a bunch of trees and bamboo and that, along with the neigbours' own trees growing away, has meant that we can no longer see much unless we go out and join the thronging masses down on the seafront. Which is not something we're bothered about. So this year, as with most of the last few years, we just get our afternoon…

OK...🙂...First of all, NO, this is no heart-rending drama of human separation and reunion, but actually reflects the story of my (local) United Airlines. I've been meaning to illustrate this interesting aspect of United Airlines, since a long time, but never got to it. So, here we go... I distinctly recall in 2012, when Continental Airlines and United Airlines (officially) merged together to form the new United. Many of us would also remember the good old Continental Airlines and might have even flown in the SIM many of Continental's classic liveries (such as the "Golden Jet Livery" or the "Contrails" livery) with classic airplane types (such as the B727 or B707). Ho…
