Here are the mods I've made to my air and config files so far to make PIC fly right in FS2004. This corrects small (1 deg) pitch error resulting from FS2004 not using wing incidence parameter, and corrects the gross induced drag error that affects cruise fuel flows. For the airfile mods, you will need to use an airfile editor like AirEd, Airfile Manager, or AirUpdate.I will not provide copies of the altered files, so please don't ask.Hope it works as well for you as it does for me.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Washington, D.C.===========================================MODIFICATIONS:In "767 Pilot in Command Wilco Publishing.air" file:Table 1101 Cmo…

Hi all, I was just wondering if there is a patch so that N1 displays idle thrust for the descent yet. I know that I could disengage the autothrottle and bring the levers back manually but this kind of defeats the purpose. Also, I see that there is a patch so that you can taxi without having to increase N1 up until about 60%. Are there any problems with this patch? As in does the aeroplane still burn the same amount of fuel etc or is there some penalty ?Thanks again and happy landings

The updated TCAS IVSI and Transponder have been posted to AVSIM's library: http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=33281&CatID=Root. If you downloaded prior to now, 15 July 2003, 1800Z, you have the old version. This fixes the interference with PIC's cursor hands on the clock, EHSI controls, etc., and the frame shading issue when switching between full-screen and windowed mode, during the day, with the panel flood light off.Sorry for the inconvenience.Lee Hetherington (KBED)

Fellow PICers,Lately, I have noticed an inconsistency in MCP behaviour with some flights when I am nearing TOD. AP is engaged and in LNAV & VNAV mode with MCP alt, actual ALT and VNAV crz alt all matching up nicely. At 16nm from TOD, the FMC calls out to me (RESET MCP ALT!) and as I start to do just that, one of two things happens. Most often nothing happens, ie. VNAV and LNAV remains engaged and aircraft remains at cruise alt until the distance to TOD ticks down to zero, after which the aircraft starts descending on the VNAV profile. But sometimes, VNAV kicks off and SPD and ALT modes engage, as if I have overflown TOD, but there is still 15 odd nm distance remaini…

Anyone any experience of using this.I encountered some anomalies when I used it: 1) Reaching Cruise Alt, AFDS went into ALT Hold Mode instead of staying in VNAV.2) No TOD Calculation.3) To rengage VNAV had to select lower ALT and in doing so DES NOW mode was automatically engaged.Oh, and for those of you wondering what CLB DIR is, it allows VNAV to climb to the selected MCP Altitude while bypassing any Legs Page Altitude Restraints.

Gentlemen,Here is my contribution towards the use of the 767PIC forum as it is meant to be used.Situation 1:Aviation regulations require that the APU of the particular aircraft you are flying be operated prior to engine start until it is clear of the ETOPS area. During the climb the APU flames out through FL370, what is the next step? What are the legal requirements and limitations?Situation 2:You recieve your flight plan and documents from dispatch prior to an ETOPS flight. While reviewing the flight plan and plotting the route on the Arctic/NAT route planning & plotting chart you notice that dispatch has planned the route outside of the ETOPS range circle around one…

Returning to what the forum is really about, I invite you to join me in posting interesting PIC questions without the answer initially supplied. Lets get back to some procedure sharing and turn this forum back on track. I will start by replying to my own post, with the "Subject" changed to allow a series of topics to covered within one thread. If it gets too long and bytey with screenshots, we can start another, and another.NOTE: Some of the lessons learned in this thread will be very helpful on the BBall PIC flight. These are some of the surprises you can expect.

VNAV Descent.Altitude Restriction of say 15000ft.15000ft set in MCP.Set 14500ft as the restriction on the FMC.Do Not alter the MCP setting.Watch in amazement as PIC meets the restriction level at 15000ft.this was gleaned from a post on the Tech Log forum of pprune.I have tried this in PIC and can verify that it works.

Here are some simple ATC instructions in different situations. What exactly are you cleared to and what will you do to comply correctly?1. You are at your cruise level(say FL350), 25nm out from TOD. ATC says "AAL327 descend maintain 19000".2. same situation, ATC instructs "AAL327 descend maintain 19000, good rate to 25000".3. You are 13nm inbound to standard straight-in ILS procedure. The published starts at 3000' - you were cleared to 5000' earlier, still on descent. Now ATC clears you as follows: "ACA3339 cleared for straightin ILS approach runway 12, report fully established".4. You are on ILS CAT3 approach, Low (or no) visibility. You suddenly lose the ILS signal. wha…

I've seen the various navigation "tests" for PIC pilots on the forum here, and what great threads they are. This is very cool stuff.I'm currently training for my instrument rating in a Cessna 172SP, and in a rare moment of brilliance have discovered why pilots learn from the old steam gauges first, before migrating to something with glass. It's so hard using the old VOR and ADF to find intersections specified in clearances, when one knows how easy L-NAV and V-NAV make this. But the rating requires it.Other then the actual a/c, a sim at flight school (loggable) and IP Trainer on my PC (all of which simulate C-172's with "classic" instruments), I sometimes fly the B727-2…
