News Flash: Residents of the peaceful village of Stansted were delighted to hear today of the plans to flatten a large part of the local natural scenery and turn it into a busy international airport. Thousands turned out to the first sod-breaking ceremony, waving placards in support. One happy resident said: "Its high time something happened here to break the monotony of green fields, lush forests, quiet streams and fresh air." Joe Dozer has been appointed site construction manager, and has wasted no time getting into the job. "I expect that we will have significant progress, by, oh, say Wednesday", he said, "2010. Maybe earlier." Excited residents watched a steady strea…

Hans mentioned that we could do with a British Baron to go with the UK scenery. I would like to mention that I once saw a Baron in full British Midland colours at Manchester Airport (dark blue top, dark grey underside, with red lettering). Since this is a REAL plane, it would probably make the perfect "British Baron".I'm not sure if this plane has been "upgraded" to the new British Midland colour scheme. Maybe I should have a poke around on the internet............ :-)Chris Low,ENGLAND.

The runway at Coupeville NOLF is designated as 12/30, but I noticed during my take off run that the heading indicator was showing 138 degrees. This would make the runway more correctly 14/32. I have flattened this runway recently using Andre's GeoTiles Viewer, so I would like to make sure that this isn't the cause of the problem. Therefore, is everyone else's Coupeville NOLF runway positioned at around 140/320 degrees ?Chris Low,ENGLAND.

OK I want to try out the UK scenery that everyone is talking about. I realize it's over 8 CDs currently. Does that mean I have to copy all 8 CDs to the harddrive, or can I keep some of it on the CDs and insert the CD only when needed like with the SFO and SEA regions?Who do I talk to to get the CDs? I assume I can't download it anywhere because of the size of the files....?How complete is the scenery? Can I just hop into my Baron and start from any airport, or will I have to build the airport first? :-lol Are lakes properly marked as lakes or will I not be able to land the Renegade on lakes? Are ATC services available?

Well after playing the FU series since FU2 came out I don't know how many years ago (I belive FU2 came out in 1997...), I'm starting to run out of ideas of what to do in the sim :-lolI think I've tried everything there is to do :(I have mastered all the planes. I can even land the fokker without it tipping over when braking.I can land in virtually zero-visibility, on the smallest of runways with the most severe crosswind.I have landed on every major bridge, fotball field, race-track, hangar, volcano, alien spaceship, aircraft carrier etc. in the entire west-coast it seems :-lolSo what's left to do other than fly from A to B? I tried working some with FLED but I got bored …

Great addition Jon! :-sun1I had a heck of a time putting in a NAV Light Switch... I forgot that some switches require 2 or 3 "on" position images. I finally put your switch images into some of the old unused switch images... until then it was giving me a needle for the on position. I have some more work to do on my version... like a lable for that switch would be nice. But that is the fun part! :) Thanks again for this great plane.http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e628a7078fc8560.jpgBoeing Field... 31L...http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e628a937a3c697f.jpgKind of a stubby looking thing... but hey... that is what a GeeBee is all about! ;-)http://ftp.avsim.co…

Yes Folks! As promised, the yellow GeeBee has been delivered with fresh paint, new quarter views, a working 5-way starter switch and 3-position flaps :-) Due to the latter changes, I've delivered it as a complete aircraft, ready to fly instead of just an upgrade script. Truthfully, the upgrade script was over 2 meg anyway and this is only twice the size ;) Besides, one cannot script cockpit or flight model changes anyway so it saves you having to muck around :-) http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e5eb4331cb3060f.jpgWho's that smilin' feller in the cockpit then? Musta got his own plane :-)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e5eb4971e65155f.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.co…

Hello friends, here I present you the new windhawk/baron model which is long awaited from several FU3-pilots.Hans Petter mailed me month ago, that he needs a new model, because the original windhawk of LG has several bugs and limitations in texturing and so on. I offered him my help and he is on the go to repaint his "Big Red" now.I made the model completely new based on the 3D-model coming from LG with FU3. Because we only can convert the dxf-file of it I must redo everything else: -> the complete 3D-models are new and several polygon-bugs are fixed-> the virtual cockpit "F4" is total new and uses the same textures-> all the uvw-mapping and texturing is new -&gt…

Hi guys, unless Jon's racing package finishes early (which will make me busy coming up with a new challenge), I'm currently trying to create new soundgroups for Ansgar's great new AI.As the sounds (i.e. Lufthansa) have to be "scratched together" from all the spoken words in FU3, right now I'm writing down EVERY spoken phrase in FU (in the vcomctrl.res and the player voices), so that everyone searching for a word has a chance to find that as well (we need that in order to know where to put the new sounds).I assume noone has done this before? As we are talking some 3000+ sound items in the FU3 .res-files, I sure could need some help writing all this down. I have pre-formatted…

Dear All,My apologies for being tardy with a few things but I've been waaaay busy recently :-( I haven't forgotten my promises, it's just that with the little time I've had, my FU3 stuff has taken second-place.1. The yellow GeeBee (NR77V - The "Tucson Terror") IS coming but as a complete aircraft (v1.1), not an upgrade. The reason is that I've changed some of the cockpit views (front quarter etc) and the existing rectangles needed editing. I have also increased the braking force slightly and reduced the flap angle to 20 degrees. When I've finished the Red GeeBee cockpit views I'll post them as part of an upgrade package so you will still have a choice of liveries! A coup…

I just found this program FRAPS. It actually allows you to record into avi files any openGL or Direct3D game.http://www.fraps.com/Just set FU3 to 640x480 and you can record by pressing a hot key. Requires a very fast coomputer and lots of harddrive space. On my computer, the framerate in FU3 drops to around 10 FPS, but the actual movie is smooth. That's on a XP1900+, 512MB RAM and a 9700 Pro videocard. It's quite fun to record clips from FU3 then put together little videos in Windows Movie Maker2, add sound or music etc. :-lol

Webmaster, please delete the corrupted post below with the same heading. I was posting just at the moment the forum went down yesterday and it went through, sort of :( This is what I wanted to say:I'm going to install the UK scenery as a totally separate installation of FU3. Currently I've got two installations of FU3 on my drives, one of them being a basic stock version, with SanFran, outer terrain and the patch. I keep this one as a backup in case something goes wrong. Now, the UK scenery doesn't need Seattle, SanFran or the outer terrain. If I copy this stock version of FU3 to another location (logically E:flight simulatorsFU3UK in my case) what will I delete and recon…

Well, I have just experienced the UK scenery for the first time, and I would like to share three screenshots that I took near Plymouth, Devon. The first picture shows my Beechjet cruising over the dockland area of Plymouth, with what looks suspiciously like one of the Royal Navy's "aircraft carriers" to the left centre.Picture No.2 clearly shows the two main bridges over the River Tamar, just to the right of my Beechjet (the suspension road bridge, and Brunel's famous railway bridge, which was completed in 1859).Finally, picture No.3 has special significance for me. The red line shows the A386, which heads north from Plymouth (the city is a few miles to the south, which is…

The beacons.fld file contains every navaid for a region, including VORs, NDBs, ILS's and markers. I have included the most updated version of that file in the update CD; but this file is obviously temporary. When one wants to add a new navaid, he must be sure to have the latest version of the beacons.fld file; otherwise, he'll overwrite someone else's work.Bogdan Adamski has agreed to put the most up-to-date beacons.fld file on his site, but this still isn't available - he's still translating his web pages from Polish to English. In the meanwhile, everyone who wants to add a new navaid (including airport developers) should email me, so I'll send him the most recent file..…

I followed ATC instructions carefully, yet as you can see on the picture below, I never made it to runway 25R Livermoore (bottom-left in picture). Instead I flew back and forth in the area for about 20 minutes before I gave up. Geez, and I thought the ground controllers had a weird sense of humor...What's the secret? Is it possible to be guided straight to the runway instead of flying around in this weird pattern? I was once told to descend to 1000 feet, and looking at the GPS in the map view, it looked like I would finally be landing...but then I was suddenly told to climb to 4000 ft. again and make a 180...

Hi Rob, I am in the process of building a runway for Bristol (EGGD not Filton) using your tools. I have modified two of the Gif files so as to remove the "R" and "L" using Microsoft Photoeditor and saved to new names both ending in zeros. However when I use Fixmip I get a "Bad File Error" on step 3. I have checked with other untouched Gifs and no problem. Is it perhaps a Photoeditor particularity ?Cheers, QvdG

Hi to all FU3 and GeeBee fiends! The day has finally arrived for the GeeBee to make it's true debut. Today I am uploading Version 1.0, ready to fly. Those of you familiar with either the original, unfinished model or my 'pre-beta' are in for a surprise! This one flies better, looks great, sounds pretty convincing and is a lot of fun to use.It includes a lot of features only found on post-LGS aircraft like wing wires, transparent canopy, 3D engine and a unique callsign. She's a new aircraft, Jim! I won't ramble on too much here - just go fly it and see for yourself :-)http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e502b3253742459.jpghttp://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/User_files/3e502b9…

I am encountering two problems whilst building a new airport. 1) Regardless of the fact that my parking spot is connected to both ends of the runway (no cross overs) I get errors on my taxigraph. I don't recall having this problem in the past.2) Most Probably related to 1. Creating a new parking spot for AI (by default is called player 2000 again) - selecting it for modification I get "Parking spot cannot be editted in end user mode.Any hints ?QvdG
